to USS Resolution – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((Holodeck Two, Deck Four, USS Resolution))
Genkos stood up and straightened his uniform when Shara came around the corner. He slipped his left hand into the pocket of his teal coat and his right rested heavily on the handle of his cane.
Adea: So, you had something to show me?
zh’Vranni: Yes, certainly.
Shara tapped the holodeck controls and brought up her program, then she stepped aside to let Genkos into the room. He stepped through, and was faced with the familiar black and yellow stripes. He stood apprehensively, his hands crossed across his cane.
zh’Vranni: I figured if we could be hands-on with this, we might be able to see something we’d miss otherwise. Computer, load the Meranuge system into the simulator.
Genkos gave her a nod of acceptance. There was a bleep and the holodeck changed into the black depths of space. In the centre was an unremarkable F5 star, with six planets orbiting. One, the fifth, appeared to be rotating in the opposite direction to the others. It was to this one that Genkos’ eyes were drawn to.
zh’Vranni: What do you think?
Adea: I have to admit, I’m intrigued.
Shara smiled.
zh’Vranni: So, what do we need to do?
Adea: Well let’s have a closer look at the Da’al planet. Get the lay of the land, so to speak.
zh’Vranni: Computer, zoom in on the fourth planet.
The simulation zoomed right in on the planet, and Shara seemed a little taken aback. She wobbled slightly on her feet and set her hands out to steady herself.
zh’Vranni: Ugh… I did not expect that.
Adea: Not to worry Ensign, I know how you feel. It can be disconcerting.
Genkos walked in closer, examining the terrain of the planet and the geography of the Da’al’s homeworld. It was similar to Earth in the maelstrom of greens and blues; a mix of large and small landmasses, and large oceans and smaller seas. All this was surrounded with a variety of different, magnificent rings of a plethora of different shades and vibrancies.
zh’Vranni: Response
Adea: It is a very beautiful planet; if indeed the Klingons are planning on attacking, it would be a crime to destroy any of it. ::he stared off into the distance for a moment:: The scars of war are always horrendous.
zh’Vranni: Response
Adea: My apologies, Ensign, I didn’t mean to get so… Well. ::he coughed briefly:: So, what do we know about Da’al physiology? I’m talking worst case scenario, but should the faeces hit the fan and we need to provide medical aid, it would be nice to know any major physical discrepancies. Their hearts aren’t in their feet or anything like that?
zh’Vranni: Response
