Commanding officer's log, stardate -- uncertain. The likeliest date appears to be sometime in the 2260s, though the science department is still attempting to narrow that with the equipment on hand. Commodore Ossa V'Airu is reporting, though I appear to be the interim CO of the USS Intrepid.

Following a routine arrival in the Sol System, I was informed that the 'Oumuamua's refit process would be expedited -- always a pleasant surprise -- as Command has tasked us with the deployment of the sophisticated Uhura Communications Array at the Gamma side mouth of the wormhole. The deployment will require several vessels in addition to 'Oumuamua, which I was of course delighted to hear. The refit and leave period therefore ought to have passed quickly -- but before I, and most of the senior staff, were able to make it off 'Oumuamua, something very strange occurred. In the space of a moment, we were -- transported? translocated? placed? -- on the Intrepid, nearly a century and a half before our own time.

My immediate goal is to understand what caused the temporal transference, and how to reverse that process. Given the recent events aboard the Beacon, I suspect a similar cause -- but I should not jump to any conclusions before gathering more data. To that end, I have asked Lieutenant Kessler, along with Counselor Brodie, Ensign Tyber, and the newly promoted Junior Lieutenant Promontory, to head up our investigation, as well as to guide us regarding our new context. I wish to understand from every angle how this could have happened, what its effects on us might be, and what we might encounter in this strange decade. For the moment, they have gathered in the Intrepid's Sickbay.

Whether because of our arrival or some other cause, the Intrepid currently does not have engine power and is operating on backups, though given that it is a Constitution-class vessel, it certainly should. I have asked Lieutenant Commander Etan to oversee all attempts to, essentially, restart the ship. Lieutenant Corelli is, of course, deep in the work already, with Junior Lieutenant Arlill and Ensign Byss to support him.

For the moment I have remained on the bridge, and though the specific location is unfamiliar, the general familiarity of such a space is helpful. Of course, we have more to contend with than our temporal jump. Even under emergency power, the Intrepid has detected a high-energy pulsar approaching a relatively stationary star system and, through the pulsar's radiation, a weak distress call. According to the library computer, the distress call originates from a planet called Gelf, and the Intrepid's mission before we arrived was to render aid to the planet. I have kept Colonel Greaves and Lieutenant Katsim on the bridge with me to assist, as well as Lieutenant Kel, who, thanks to his symbiote's history, knows this era better than anyone else.

Although the situation is unfamiliar, and my primary goal remains the crew's safe return to our own time, I can't ignore the assistance promised by Starfleet to the people of Gelf.

End log.

With her log complete, Ossa turned to the members of the senior staff she'd retained on the bridge with her. Katsim seemed as comfortable as possible at the bridge science station, along with her omnipresent Echo, and there was little that could discomfit Greaves for long. Of all the officers currently on the bridge with her, Ossa thought Kel seemed most affected by the time shift -- and, in his case, he seemed to be thoroughly delighted by the turn of events. He had provided a wealth of information about the time period, which was one major reason that she'd asked him to stay.

V'Airu: But do you have any memory of the Intrepid specifically?

If he did, then that could help a great deal in guiding them toward what history told them about the moment.

Kel: Response

Ossa gave a terse nod, unsure how she felt about the answer as yet. She looked to Greaves and Katsim.

V'Airu: What about the planet Gelf? Assuming we can reach it, what are our options to protect its population from radiation from the itinerant pulsar?

Greaves / Katsim / Kel: Responses
