Ensign Josh Herrick: New Friends to Come

While the acronym OASIS (Oumuamua Athletic Squad for Interdisciplinary Sports or OASIS) may not catch on, Herrick thought that this more informal onboard bonding could help him make new friends now that Rox and Kammus had headed off to the Ronin. He wasn’t sure if they’d had considered him a ‘friend friend’, but they were the people he’d spent the most time onboard interacting with. As the group looked at their drinks, Maxwell added a bit more background on what he was handed.
Maxwell: You'll no need more than a glass ae V'taer'eth all night. Best tae take your time and sip at it or you'll be waking up in places you shouldnae and have no the slightest idea why you're there.
Sherlock: Tell me about it.
Etan: Response
Maxwell: Nae comment.
Nilsen: I also have…yeah.
Sherlock: Yeah, let's not share those stories.
Josh sipped on his pumpkin spice latte as the conversation winded down. He wondered what adventures Maxwell and Sherlock had when on a V’taer’eth — his bout with booze had been less social and more coping. The conversation hit a natural pause and also a natural end.
Sherlock: Well, gentlemen ::beat:: I'm going to call it a night. It's late, and I have to get up early tomorrow. Duty still calls.
Nilsen: That does sound like an idea. I’ll let y’all know when I get a team together.
Herrick: Night gang! ::smiling::
The young engineer wasn’t really sure how tonight was going to go but he’d worried that it’d have almost funeral-type vibes, but instead it was a fun gathering with new opportunities for him to explore. He’d look forward to getting to know each of the officers better in the field, both on and off duty.
