((Deck A, USS ‘Oumuamua))
Whatever had just happened, it wasn't good. Explosion on ships never were in Shevon's experience. And she was sure it was the same on Starfleet vessels. And the explosions didn't exactly sound nor feel small.
S. Sherlock: Was there anyone else up there?
Herrick shook his head and Shevon let out a breath of relief.
Herrick: If the readings are correct, no one was in the Sensor Pod when we got up there. Something though... something feels off. ::rubbing the back of his head:: There are double fail safes on the EPS conduit interlinks. If a conduit blows, the line before and after the affected system should automatically close, but it seems like they're going off in a chain.
Shevon braced her hands against the sides of the turbolift as another explosion shook the small pod. The ship went on alert and the klaxon blared, letting everyone know.
Arlill: =/\= Arlill to Herrick, do you read me. ::a pause:: Josh, do you copy? =/\=
Herrick: ::tapping his combadge:: =/\= I do, Lieutenant. I have Shevon Sherlock with me. The EPS conduits seem to be failing up on Deck A for some unknown reason.
S. Sherlock: =/\= It started happening just as we got there. =/\=
She wasn't sure if that information would be relevant, but there were multiple voices coming through, some in the background, and she didn't know if they'd need to know every detail.
Arlill/Nilsen: =/\= Response =/\=
Herrick: =/\= You mean it’s happening on all three decks? What about Deck D... Delta? =/\=
Arlill/Nilsen/Rouiancet: =/\= Response =/\=
Shevon watched as the fellow Engineer began tapping in the override to bring them back to Deck D. Her eyes widened wondering if that was the best idea.
S. Sherlock: Um ::beat:: are we, uh, going back?
Herrick: =/\= If we can’t determine why it’s cascading, then we’re going to need to detach the pod manually. It takes two, and if my colleague here is willing to, we might be able to separate it from the ship and stem it off… ::feeling another explosion:: before we take us and a good part of DS9 with us. =/\=
There was another chirp from their combadges and the new voice was the one she'd heard in the background of the others.
Rouiancet: =/\= This is Rouiancet. Lieutenant, we're trying to shut down the EPS network directly, but (with a glance at Nilsen for confirmation) we're having trouble getting through. (beat, more glances around) That plan might be best. =/\=
It seemed everyone thought that going back in was what they needed to do. She was nervous, but not so much scared. This was what she'd signed up for after all.
S. Sherlock: =/\= Yeah, yeah. We can do that. ::looking at Herrick:: We can do that? =/\=
Nilsen/Arlill/Herrick: =/\= Responses =/\=
Rouiancet: =/\= Proceed with manual detachment. =/\=
S. Sherlock: =/\= We'll, uh, yeah, we'll do it! =/\=
Nilsen/Arlill/Herrick: =/\= Responses =/\=
Shevon tapped her badge. She knew she'd have to work on that whole communications thing. But it was the first time she'd used one in an emergency situation. She looked over at Herrick and began nodding enthusiastically as the nervousness began to include excitement. The turbolift soon came to a stop and the doors opened.
Herrick: response
S. Sherlock: Right, but, um ::beat:: where do I do that?
Herrick: response
