OOC: Apologies on the signature of my last sim; forgot to update it to Boggarsh. Boggarsh’s dialogue was removed here as it was out of earshot for Herrick.

((Primary Mine Tunnel, Central Tholus - Esh-o Colony))

Josh followed the Esh-o and the Lieutenants. Even though it wasn’t a Jefferies tube, and the tunnels were big enough to accommodate the standard larger Esh-o frame, it still felt cramped. The adrenaline from the encounter with the strange life form was wearing off, while letting the engineer’s idle mind get back to business as usual, with a tad more fatigue.

He felt hot — tugging at his collar, he realized it was moist with sweat. For a moment, he worried that his claustrophobic trigger was swinging into full action but as he caught a glimpse of Kel ahead of him, he saw he wasn’t alone.

Herrick: oO However we’re getting a ride home, I hope they don’t have a good sense of smell. Do other races smell when they sweat? Maybe I’ve already acclimated to it since we’ve been together non-stop since arrival. Oo

Then, as they entered a large cavern, Boggarsh told them to hang back while he convinced the Esh-o mining detail to join their quest to save the rock they called home.

Herrick: Do you think he’ll be successful?

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Kel:  How many are we now?

Boggarsh: ::sweeping his appendance and counting each of them:: 8.

Herrick: oO Didn’t he say he needed 20 earlier? I’m hoping the gods are looking down on us today. Oo

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Kel:  How much farther along until we can start placing charges?

Boggarsh: ::pointing towards 2 of the arches:: It would be about 500 paces forward in each of these 2 entry points. Since we are just a few, we will need to move at top speed. We must place them throughout the tunnels, return, and then engage the blast, while leaving enough time to come up with another plan if this doesn’t work.

500 paces was about 400 meters, which only takes a typical officer a minute to run. This was good news, but Josh wondered how far the tunnels extended and how long it would take them to reach the end and back. He took out his tricorder to begin sketching a better idea of the tunnels now that they were up close.

Looking at the initial map the tricorder developed, using the info from Engish’s office and the live data now, it appears that the tunnels extended out 100 kilometers, However, it looked like they would only need to place charges along the first 30 for the impacted site on the asteroid to effectively fracture off.

Herrick: How fast can you run?

Boggarsh: Run? ::his bulging eyes blinking:: What is… run?

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Boggarsh: Oh, probably a bit faster than how we’re travelling now. Typically we use one of these mine cars if we are going a long distance.

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Kel:  How many did you say were with us?

Josh looked over at the doctor and saw that he had his own tricorder open, doing his own scans.

Boggarsh: We are 8, plus the 3 miners who are now heading back to the surface.

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Kel: ::looking around nervously::  Either we have a straggler or something is following us.

Boggarsh: Is it that flying beast you should have killed? If it is…

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Boggarsh: Can you tell what they are? Esh-o? Zet?

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Boggarsh: How far are they?

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response

Boggarsh had asked every question he would have asked, aside from the comment about murdering the unknown assailant. Given that Boggarsh and the other three miners couldn’t really ‘run’ at nearly the same speed as the others, he doubted the senior officers would choose flight over fight. He looked first at Kel, then Richards and finally their away team leader Corelli.

Herrick: Should we try to hide or at least gather around the Esh-o?

Josh reconfigured his tricorder and saw the same vague blip as Kel, ominously getting closer.

Kel / Richards / Corelli: Response
