((Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Oumuamua))

As the medical team discussed the different options around illuminating the ship and treatments, Herrick laid on the bio-bed in Sickbay, forced by Eli and by pure dumb luck, there had been some ‘real’ issue that he hadn’t been aware of — he was radioactive and not in the good, superhero Q-type of way.

V'Len Kel, as the Chief Medical Officer, helped the team get out of analysis paralysis; for now, they’d keep the lights in sickbay dimmed to emergency levels and investigate the root cause before coming up with treatment options. And the thought of being confined in the fMRI didn’t seem to phase Kel — whereas Herrick’s claustrophobia had been getting worse with each passing week.

T’Larn: Fortunately for all of you. fMRI has come a long way since its inception. You will not be - to use a human phrase - blasted to smithereens by the emission of this machine. I would like to take comfort in that.

Josh could feel his eyes almost bulge outside his head at that statement. Medicine had come a long way, but he wasn’t sure that T’Larn’s comment was comforting. What if a future report came out indicating this fMRI approach was not the safest approach. That thinking got interrupted by T’Larn’s next comment.

T’Larn: Instead you will be turned into salamanders.

Josh was still processing the comment when T’Larn clarified.

T’Larn: That was a joke. Of course you will not be turned into salamanders. That is an impossibility.

Herrick: oO Good deadpan delivery… Perhaps this was the only type of humor that fits a Vulcan. Oo

The more he reflected on the comment, the more humorous it became. The Andorian/Trill, soon to be lizard, also seemed to agree.

Kel: ::loudly::  Your sense of humor is coming along nicely T'Larn

Miash: Caught me by surprise, and I just met T’Larn!

Kovacs: Response

T’Larn: Hmmm…Dr Kel it would seem that your hypothesis has been proven correct. I can certainly see a radionuclide and they, to use another human phrase, light up like a Halloween tree.

Herrick: ::trying to play down his increasing fear:: Ah yes… the Halloween tradition of lighting up trees… along with carving up pumpkin cadavers.

Miash: Are the levels high enough that we should be worried? :: To T’Larn :: Are you properly reading the results hun?

Kovacs: Response

T’Larn: Allow me a few moments to identify the specific radionuclide.

Kel:  ::loudly::  No rush.

Miash: Doctor, can I get you anything to help ease your anxiety? A relaxant?

(OOC: Just adding a spot for T’Larn to give the doc the readout)

T’Larn: Response

Kel:  Caesium-137?  I thought that was a fission product.  ::loudly::  Where is it localized?

T'Larn: Response

Miash: You didn’t drink anything when you were on the asteroid did you? (beat) Your liver looks the worst.

KelLiver? I'm thinking we should try carbamazepine. It's old school, but it's a broad spectrum liver enzyme activator.  Maybe we can break this thing down.

Miash: It’s not standard so I’ll need to replicate it.

Before she could even get a response she was shuffling towards the medical replicators.

Herrick: ::turning his head towards the gaggle of medical officers swept up in discussion:: I don’t remember eating or drinking really anything… from our crash down to getting beamed over to the Nautilus. How could it have spread?

T'Larn/Kovacs: Response

oO Transporter? Oo Miash stopped shy of activating the replicator. She continued to listen.

Kel:  I hadn't thought of that.  Do you think the transporters can be that precise?

T'Larn/Kovacs: Response

Kel:  Let's try, but we better lie down and hold still.

Miash: ::pulling a PADD off the table:: How can I be of assistance?

T'Larn/Kovacs: Response

With that order Miash made her way back over to the replicator to order up transporter markers. Returning a few moments later, holding three syringes..

Miash: I have the markers, they’re sequenced to bind with this type of radiation.

T'Larn/Kovacs/Herrick: Response

As Miash approached him, he careened his neck for the Ferengi nurse to more easily administer the shot. However, she shook her head.

Herrick: Not here? ::pointing to the typical spot on the neck he received practically every other hypo in his life.

Miash: Response

Herrick: Oh, I guess that makes sense. Start at the worst location and work your way out type of deal?

Miash/T’Larn/Kel/Kovacs: Response

He lifted his shirt to expose his abdomen. He really had no clue where the liver was located; part of the reason why he did not don a teal uniform. As the hypo hissed, the markers were injected in him and, he supposed, started tagging the relevant items inside his body.

Miash then proceeded to administer the shot to Kovacs and the Doctor.

Miash/T’Larn/Kel/Kovacs: Response

After the shots were administered, the two medical officers that were overseeing this treatment plan went to their monitors. He wasn’t a fan of using an invisible forcefield to keep his body stationary for this treatment but given the microscopic degree that they were working on, he guessed it was better than having the wrong cells transported.

As the transporters were activated, Josh was sure he could feel a tingle, but he didn’t know if that was based in reality or just his mind making things up. The transport cycle wouldn’t have lasted more than a few seconds at max. He was already feeling itchy and ready to jump out of the unseen binds holding him down.

Herrick: ::staring at the ceiling, and rather impatiently:: You done yet?

Miash/T’Larn/Kel/Kovacs: Response
