As the awards ceremony broke up, Sol maneuvered her way toward the table where the drinks had been set up. She searched around for a few moments, digging around for a pair of glasses and a sealed bottle. She started to to stroll off toward the far end of the beach. A she did so she searched for Wyn looking to catch his eye. When she was sure she had, she jerked her head off in the direction she was walking and raised the bottle. She then turned and headed toward a set of rocks that was able to look out over the water, and the setting sun. She passed a torch on the way and hefted it out of the ground as she passed, the light now moving with her.
Sol speared the torch back into the ground as she rounded the rocks, setting the bottle and glasses down in a relatively flat area as she waited, sitting on the rocks, watching the sun sink lower on the horizon. She could see the rest of the crew mingling around. Before long Wyn appeared. She glanced over, grinning.
McLaren: Captain.
She winked. Even if it was only temporary for them both, it was still fun to say it aloud to him.
Foster: Response?
Sol reached for the bottle and began to pour the both of them a drink. She filled each glass, and then set it back down, offering one of them to Wyn.
McLaren: How are you feeling about this, Wyn?
Foster: Response?
Sol shook her head slightly, leaning back against the rocks to watch the crew for a moment as they mingled.
McLaren: Youre more than capable. Sal wouldn't have asked you to be CO if you weren't. :: She paused. :: And Ive always known it too...
Foster: Response?
McLaren: You know Ive never met the man... but I have a feeling your Dad would be pretty proud of you.. and I am too.
Foster: Response?
Sol grinned, nodding. She looked out the the ocean watching the reflection of the sun on the waves. She wonderd if the whales had moved on or were still hanging around just off shore.
McLaren: Until Gogi returns, Ill do my best to support you any way I can. Just tell me how.
And if, for some reason, Gogi didnt... Sol would still provide whatever support she could to Wyn.
Foster: Response?
