((Capitol City High Council Chambers – Capricalia))

Gogi stared into the middle distance for a moment. Several things were racing through his mind now.

Where would the High Councillor be safe?

Who could they trust? Anyone? No one?

But one thing in particular was pushing its way to the front of his thoughts.

Fairhug: Lajith.

Madison nodded in agreement.

Marsh: That sounds like a solid starting point.

Fairhug: The question is - where did he go?

Madison looked at her temporary patient and glanced back at Fairhug.

Marsh: Someone we trust will have to keep an eye on the High Councilor because they clearly want him dead.

Fairhug: We have to find somewhere safe.

But before he could even begin to think, his commbadge vibrated.

Foster: =/\= Foster to Fairhug. =/\=

Instinctively, he slapped the Statfleet insignia on his chest.

Fairhug: =/\= Fairhug here. Go ahead, Commander. =/\=

Gogi answered in a much more urgent tone than usual and clearly Wyn had picked up on that.

Foster: =/\= Did I catch you at a bad time, Sir? =/\=

Fairhug: =/\= I’m afraid it couldn’t have been much worse, Wyn. The High Councillor has been poisoned. Thankfully, Maddie has been able to stabilise him, but we need to find somewhere safe to take him. The would-be assassin is still at large. =/\=

In times of urgency, Gogi reverted to just calling people by their names. It was a (technically) bad habit that he couldn’t shake. He knew that he should follow protocol as CO, but his instincts often took over in emergency situations.

Foster: =/\= That’s not good. Do you need any support? =/\=

The Bardeezan thought about it. Would extra officers make any difference?

Fairhug: =/\= At the moment… no. I don’t think so. Have you had any issues on your end? =/\=

Foster: =/\= No we just left Themem Zilo, Ross and S’zurak are researching his request and I’m… learning that I should probably go check on the old grouch again. =/\=

Gogi’s stomach dropped slightly. He hoped to Landi that this was not a coordinated attack. Zilo could already be dead if it was.

Fairhug: =/\= I think that’s a good idea. We need to remain on high alert. Whoever did this to the High Councillor may be working with others or even on his way to cause more problems elsewhere. =/\=

Foster: =/\= That’s… unpleasant. I will keep my eyes open, co-ordinate with Ross and check back in if I find anything. =/\=

Despite the fact that Wyn couldn’t see him, Gogi nodded before responding.

Fairhug: =/\= Keep me informed, Commander. Fairhug out. =/\=

Foster: =/\= Good luck, Sir. I’m here if you need me. =/\=

With the comm call closed, Gogi looked back at Madison and Zirzal in turn.

Fairhug: High Councillor, you mentioned someone earlier… Merta?

Zirzal: Merta… wife… nurse.

Fairhug: Then you will be safe there?

Zirzal: … Maybe?

He looked to Maddie.

Fairhug: What do you think, Maddie?

Marsh: I think we need to be on high alert. Whoever, tried to kill the High Councilor likely won’t rest until they finish their mission.

Gogi glanced at the High Councillor again. Despite Maddie being able to stabilise him, Zirzal was still not looking good. He definitely needed more medical attention. If his wife was a nurse, there wasn’t anyone better equipped to take care of him right now.

Fairhug: Even more worryingly - there could be others working with Lajith.

Marsh: Right, and it could be anyone, we proceed with extreme caution.

Zirzal: I don’t … care… where I go… family.  I want my family… safe.

Gogi took a deep breath. He could completely understand how Zirzal felt. Right now, nothing else mattered more than making sure he and his family were safe.

Marsh: I suggest we get a plan going and act swiftly. Did you have any strategies in mind?

The Bardeezan ran his fingers through the front of his fiery red hair. Strategies? Not really. He hadn’t been expecting this. But then in Starfleet, you had to expect the unexpected. Zirzal was still unwell and Lajith was still out there somewhere. They had to think of *something* and fast.

Fairhug: Let’s get the High Councillor to his wife. Then we need to track down Lajith and apprehend him before he can do any more damage.

Zirzal let out what sounded like a painful gasp.

Zirzal: hurry…

Marsh: ?

Gogi nodded, once, then tapped his badge.

Fairhug: =/\= Fairhug to Narendra. =/\=

But his call was met with silence.

He tried again.

Fairhug: =/\= Fairhug to Narendra. =/\=

Still nothing.

Fairhug: They must be out of range.

Marsh: Response

The Bardeezan looked at Zirzal. Gogi was strong. Bardeezans in general were hardy people and much stronger, pound for pound, than a lot of other races. But the Capricalians were a tall species. Even between him and Maddie, it would be a struggle to try to carry the High Councillor anywhere.

He racked his brain for a solution… and then he remembered Edan Femorr. The Sub-Commander that Lt. Haukea-Willow’s team had been put in touch with.

Femorr was loyal to Zirzal. He was someone they could trust. Well, he was someone they *had* to trust at this moment in time.

Fairhug: Sub-Commander Femorr. We could ask him to alert the High Councillor’s wife and then to come here and wait with the High Councillor until she arrives, while we go and look for Lajith.

Marsh: Response

Fairhug: I’m not sure what other options we have at the moment. If you can think of anything, I’m all ears.

Marsh: Response

(OOC: Happy for Maddie to come up with another plan, if you want. Otherwise, in the next sim, we can assume that Femorr arrives “off-screen” so that we can get onto pursuing Lajith. :))
