((Main Briefing Room - USS Columbia))
::The nebula class vessel was well underway by the time the crew gathered in the briefing room. The table was filled with a selection of pastries - both sweet and savory, as well as breakfast meats, fresh fruit and a selection of beverages.
Sal was seated with a cup of orange cider, nibbling on a Betazoid waterfruit with a far-off expression as the crew filtered in.::
Taybrim: ::Turning, his focus snapping on the assembled:: Please everyone, take a seat and get something to eat.
Any: ?
::As they settled Sal stood up, looking at the assembled group. Even those who had not been with them very long felt like a connected part of the team. And Sal was very proud to be surrounded by such competent and loyal officers.::
Taybrim: As many of you have guessed, we're gathering here right now because we have a problem with one of the officers in our command structure. Commodore Kinney gave directly detrimental orders to the USS Albion and his guidance to both the Albion and the Avalon is largely responsible for the loss of two ships and 492 lives. ::a number that was burned into his mind:: Kinney is not the top ranking command officer above us, however - Admiral Hauke of sector command was open to hearing our side of the story; as evidenced by the quick turn around on getting a new support ship. ::He took in a deep breath:: That said, Kinney is continuing to generate negative reports and rumors that paint the crew of the USS Albion as incompetent fools responsible for the 'failure' of the mission... ::He trailed off, already feeling the negative emotion in the room rise::
Any: ?
::Sal took in a breath through his teeth. He agreed with all of it, and yet getting angry about it didn't help at the moment. Still he had a plan. And he was going to lay it on the table for open discussion.::
Taybrim: I plan to gather a body of evidence against Kinney and in three days time launch the Columbia with anyone who wishes to accompany me to Raskor I to confront Kinney about this issue. It is my hope that he will either bargain with us to something that will be beneficial to us, or incriminate himself.
Any: ?
::Another deep breath, Sal lingered with his cup by his mouth, drinking in the calming aroma of the cider.::
Taybrim: I understand that this is a risky gamble and I do not hold it against anyone if they do not wish to accompany us or help us gather and present evidence. However, the more assistance I can get in this the stronger our case will be.
Any: ?
