((Elder's Chamber - Temurian Settlement))

Haukea figured, playing off their own strengths, it would be to their advantage to potentially extract and alleviate The Temurians of their pest control issue. If successful a massive increase in trust could be gained, amplifying their own potential in goods exchanged. As qualified Starfleet individuals a risk, such as this, was worth taking, not only for their present mission, but equally the welfare of the Temurian society.

Likewise, Haukea-Willow, as a Starfleet security officer, current chief, was more than, if not over qualified, in the use of several phase weapons. However, working with two medically qualified individuals may prove to require on the job training.

Willow: Whatever is required, I at least speak for myself, that the job will get done. All I ask is that there is compensation, trust.

Sylvax: Trust usually starts with someone being willing to solve a problem before asking for anything else in return. ::He let the words settle briefly.:: Compensation matters. But so does reputation.

Ivalyan: ::quietly, eyes drilling into Haukea:: Trust is built in increments. ::the blue eyes turn brightly back to Leda:: We're not asking you to hand it over. Just asking for the chance to earn it on the ground.

Sylvax and Ivalyan’s comments appeared entirely directed towards Haukea - her innocent, open, honest, nature of trust first, question later, far removed from their own interpretations of acceptable negotiation. Yet, Haukea, being who she was, found difficulty in understanding a mentality of gaining trust, and respect from a reciprocal individual. The Risian, found, for herself, that, to her, you had automatic gain of those characteristics, up until you proved otherwise - some individuals quicker than others.

Leda: If your offer is in earnest, I’m happy to consider it. These creatures have been plaguing us since we arrived here in the Cluster. If you can rid us of this problem, I can see us becoming trading partners for a very long time indeed.

The Trill, Ryden Sylvax, joined, gave a sharp glance towards his companions, imploring them of some unknown request, before locking his eyes on Leda. Haukea herself knew nothing but of her own opinion.

Sylvax: If you’ll excuse us a moment... I’d like to discuss the arrangement privately with my associates before we commit to anything.

Leda: By all means. Take your time.

At least Ryden was of a sensible mind, asking for a majority vote before likely making the deciding decision regarding their course of action. Nevertheless, as Chief of Security, Haukea had her mind already settled - willing to proceed with pest control - trap and release non-wit-standing - solo if she had to. For herself, the undisclosed mission, the action was only logical, The Temurians had a dilemma, a solution was required, they, as Starfleet officers, had the means, she was committed.

Ryden indicated to Haukea and Ivalyan, the trio marching to the back of the chamber out of ear shot.

Sylvax: She’s not telling us everything.

Willow: No one ever truly does, even the most honest among us.

Ivalyan: Response

Sylvax: When that report came in... her reaction was genuine. I could sense real fear, concern… something personal underneath it. ::A slight pause followed:: But there’s more to this situation than aggressive wildlife delaying a relocation. ::He hesitated only briefly before continuing more quietly and pointing at his temple:: I can feel that much.

Willow: Of course it’s personal Ryden. They want to be able to settle, have a life, have a home. Nothing is more personal than that.

Ivalyan: Response

Sylvax: I don’t think she’s lying to us. ::His brow furrowed faintly.:: I think she’s deciding how much she trusts us before she tells us the rest.

Willow: Unlike myself, that’s how most operate. You don’t start telling a total stranger everything, you wait and see if you are going to call them a friend first.

Haukea, once again, was far removed from the common response. While a majority would wait to form trusting relationships before delving into personal details, the Risian, despite her alexithymia, found her motormouth often ran - the cart before the horse - acting without a filter as she spoke her thoughts out loud. Over the years, certainly, noticeably while working in Starfleet, she had learned to hold her tongue, far more than she would have liked, understanding that was not the experience for all.

Ivalyan: Response

Sylvax: Which means if we want answers... we probably need to earn them first. We stay careful. We learn what we can. And we assume the situation below is worse than advertised.

Willow: Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I have already expected as such. This transaction - in order to get her to trust us, it’s only fair that we take care of her worst situation.

Ivalyan: Response

Haukea, not having disagreed with any aspect of Ryden’s, or even Ivalyan, knew, confirming his suspicions meant they were on the same page. Therefore, returning to the center of the chamber, Sylvax made the announcement.

Sylvax: We’ve discussed it. ::His tone steadied, calm and deliberate:: We’ll help deal with the creatures in the cave systems. ::A small pause:: In exchange, we expect access to the power cores we discussed... and an ongoing conversation afterward.

Leda: Then I’d say we have a deal.

Once again a wave of twittering laughter rang throughout the collective of Temurians gathered in the room, reacting to inside knowledge - providing a wave of excitement, a hard to read expression on their face, acting as a mix of fear and anticipation.

Leda: First and foremost - let me send a message to my grandson, Kiro. I believe he’s meeting with the technical team from your organization and I’ll tell him to give them his full cooperation in regards to accessing the cores.

Haukea-Willow waited patiently, not saying a word as the Temurian woman used a messaging device to send a message to her aforementioned grandson, at which point the Risian woman had no further expectations, waiting for events to unfold as they will.

Ivalyan/Sylvax: Response

Leda: Of course. I’ll provide all the information I can about these creatures. We can also offer you transportation down to the planet as well, or give you beaming parameters. Drakos Prime has roving antimatter storms that can make transporting a challenge without proper calibration.

Ivalyan/Sylvax: Response

Willow: ::Haukea waited a moment for Sylvax to provide his response before responding:: Your assistance is greatly appreciated. We will gladly take you on that offer.

Leda: We have a forward camp on the planet and we’ve been conducting regular excursions into the cave system - as much as we can, anyway. As a show of good faith for your generous offer, I’ll accompany you down to the surface to help get you oriented. I assume you have preparations you’d like to make first? What else can I tell you before we leave?

Willow: It is true that we will have preparations we would want to make before starting out. I have a store of weapons I would like to access. However, until then I do have several questions to which you could answer.

Ivalyan/Sylvax: Response

Leda: Response

Willow: In order to conduct our extraction of the pests from the cave system, it would be ideal for any and all information you have regarding them.

Ivalyan/Sylvax: Response

Leda: Response

Willow: Any information that we can reference while we prepare would be ideal - greatly appreciated.
