OOC - Skipped the comline conversation in order to make finishing my end of the scene easier.

((Holodeck 3 - 12 Hours Later, Deck 12, USS Narendra))

Bailey gave everyone else a change to share their input, ideas and opinions. She didn’t want to over shadow everyone. This was a team effort, everyone's ideas had to be listened to as well as considered. That was what she was taught growing up. Her uncle had said she shouldn’t talk out of turn. Of course this situation was different, most of them were. The big thing he had taught her was when it was best to speak up and when to listen. For a long time she struggled letting people know the necessities of life however she had gotten better at that which still left her with a strong set of listening skills.

Galven: Is there something you’d like to add, cadet?

Harper: Oh...I’m sorry. I was just...thinking and...well, a thought came to me...I just wanted to see…

The room fell quiet, with no one interrupting, Sheila however did speak up in order to encourage the cadet.

Bailey: Go on...I’d love to hear what you have to say…

Harper: Well, I was thinking...what if we used Noroline instead? It’s a strong neuro-sedative that’s confined to disrupting the electric impulses of the brain that keep someone conscious.

Foster: That’s a pretty new drug, it hasn’t been tested much.

Harper: I know it’s newer, but it’s also been shown to be very safe thus far. I thought it was worth looking at. In addition, if we combine that along with forcing a cytokine storm and genetically modifying the cells to specifically attack the nanites. They’d be overpowered.

Bailey: That’s a very unique idea.

It was unique. Bailey wasn’t sure if they had time to test it. The good news though was the fact that it might be worth adding it to what they already had. By combining them they could create a stronger drug that had the potential to be more effective.

Galven: Keep going. I'm intrigued.

Foster: I’m not complaining yet. Keep going.

Harper: If we’re constantly monitoring the subject, we’ll be able to protect against that possibility. That’s critical in this.

Munger: Are you sure we need to do more than what we just did?

Bailey: And you think that would be more effective?

Harper: No. I’m not sure. Everything we’re discussing here is theoretical. Models are showing promising results, and what I’ve just run seems even more promising, but as we all know, applying what we see in the models doesn’t mean that everything is going to go according to plan. So, no. I can’t be absolutely sure of anything but what the model says.

Bailey could tell Harper was unsure. She wanted what they had to work, most everyone here did. Right now however they didn’t have hours or even days to keep testing. What they had just had to be good enough; something that would have a promising result.

Foster: We’re flying on a hope and a prayer here. That’s not optimal, but considering the Borg are usually considered an end to all hope… ::he shook his head:: Maybe having some hope is better than none.

Galven: Depending on the quantity, then compare that with however much would be needed for a ship full of drones. Figure out the percentage, if that makes sense?

Sheila considered herself someone that knew Glaven fairly well. Okay, they hadn’t worked closely together, not often anyway, but his comment confused her. It had her wonder what was going on in his head. Hopefully it would be a sound idea.

Foster: Let see if it works first, okay?

Munger: I think he means whatever the percentage is for a ship full of people, reduce that number by how many drones and the assimilated on the Andromeda.

That still didn’t make much sense.

Bailey: What if we combine those sedatives with the aesthetic we’ve already created? That should give us a super drug so to speak.

Harper: I would recommend running a test through a model to make sure that the combination won’t automatically cause a problem.

Munger: Why exactly would we need to do that?

Taelon: Borg drones are not all the same, um, species. What attacks the nanites in one species might attack vital processes in, um, others. So...please run as many tests as you can? Otherwise….

Foster: Otherwise we’re gonna have a lot of dead people on all sides.

Bailey: What about putting that new form of the drug in a gas form?

If they were to combine all these unique drugs into one (a gas) Bailey didn’t want to run the risk of any crew becoming incopasitated if they ended up in contact with it. Masks would be the most effective sort of protective equipment. Gloves would also be effective.

Galven: Like through the ventilation system?

Foster: How busted up will the ship be when we get to it? How effective is this drug as a gas?

Harper: It has been shown to be effective in a gaseous state.

Munger: So many things could work with that, but also wouldn’t. ::sighs::

Taelon: W-well, there’s, um, an issue with -

Every idea the others throughout made sense. Any addition to the drug would have to be tested. Good thing it seemed they had time for one last addition before the drug was needed, and likely on an actual patient no less.

A commline call cut through and cut Taelon off.

The conversation with straight and to the point. It seemed that most of them had a new task to work on, even if they weren’t directly on the away team. Those not going would have to hold down the fort.

Munger: Sir?

Foster: Where are you going?  You weren’t in the call. ::he hoped.::

Sheila herself stayed silent. She wasn’t sure what to say in this situation.

Galven: I'm going to my office to update the mission report on what we've achieved so far. Good work, everyone!

Seemed like Glaven had a plan on what to do, though it seemed odd that he would start on a mission report in the middle of the mission. The whole idea made her nervous. What was going on in Glaven’s head?

Munger: I don’t think --

Galven: Make sure that the super drug is going to work and let me know what you all find.

Bailey: Sir? Shouldn’t you stay….? ::She wasn’t entirely sure where she had been going with that sentence which left it to trail off::

Too late the Denobulan was gone, racing out of the room. Bailey herself was at a loss. She wasn’t sure what to do and even if she decided to follow after him she would be too slow.

Munger: Something is up with him. I’ve been around for far too long that I have a gut feeling about this being a bad idea.

Foster: You don’t say. ::he replied, flatly.::

Taelon: I- um, yes…

Munger: Anyone want to follow the Denobulan?

The young Elaysian woman would have followed the Denobulan scientist if she felt she wasn’t restricted in some way. For one she felt she would be too slow to catch up to him. Two she had a voice in the back of her head telling her that she shouldn’t get involved in others personal issues. Sure it affected her but how was she to know that.

Harper: Perhaps I can offer assistance to Dr. Galven?

Taelon: That’s, um, a good idea. He - he’ll need it.

Foster: Do I medically need to remove him from duty?

Harper was off after the Denobulan, and Foster turned towards Sheila for some better information.

Bailey: I’m not sure.

Taelon: I think I should - um, I think I should...check with the Commander.

Foster: Yeah, please. I don’t want him being a liability. To himself or others.

Bailey: Please. I don’t think he should be alone right now.

Foster looked towards her and tipped his antennae downwards. She wasn’t sure what that was supposed to mean. The action though was easily brushed off as something she didn’t need to worry about.

Foster: Sounds like you also have an away team to prepare for, so I’ll finish up these tests and get your supplies replicated for you so all you have to do is pick them up. Sound good?

It didn’t seem like she was going on the away team just yet. No one had told her anything directly but she would at least be prepared to go. On the other hand she was grateful for Doctor Foster’s help in finishing up. It saved her the mental energy and allowed her to focus on the next step in the mission.

Bailey: That would be highly appreciated.

Foster took a step forward and spoke more quietly.

Foster: You’ve done a great job so far. Stay safe out there, ok?

Bailey: I’ll do my absolute best.

With that Bailey and Foster parted ways. She ended up in main sickbay at a desk able to get ready for the next step. Hopefully German would be okay, if not she promised herself that she would be there for her friend. Be there in any way that she could. It would be hard, both the personal and collective aspects of mission. The hope that she allowed herself was the thought that everything would end up okay. It may not be the same as it was before but hopefully it would be okay.
