((Docking Bay, Deck 86, StarBase 118 → Ivory Tower))

Sael: Then lead on, Captain. I will decide what is worth seeing.

What an odd way of saying "Pleased to be here."

Fairhug: Absolutely, Chancellor. Please, follow me.

Ross simply nodded and followed along as they started moving. It was still an odd feeling to be part of important meetings like these - was he the right person to represent a union he hadn't been a big fan of most of his life?

Then again, maybe this circumstance made him perfect for the job. He understood reservations against the Federation better than most people, although the military appeal of the Aemoneian was unsettling and strange to him.

As they neared the turbolifts, Fairhug’s combadge vibrated. Ross exchanged a quick glance with Bryce, but she stepped into their line of sight immediately - so he stayed where he was, hearing Corey's trusted voice through Fairhug's badge.

Wethern: =/= Wethern to Fairhug or Ross =/=

Fairhug: ::tapping his badge:: =/= Fairhug here. Go ahead. =/=

Wethern: =/= Yeah we have a slight situation in sickbay. Foster and Drex have started to what all I can say is regress. It's like babysitting cadets. =/=

Ross frowned in confusion. Regress? That didn't sound good.

Fairhug: =/= Lieutenant, I’m not sure what you mean, but now is not a good time. ::he looked over his shoulder, making sure Sael couldn’t hear the conversation.:: We are with the Ameoneian delegation. I suggest you tell them to stop whatever prank it is they’re pulling or find a way to snap them out of it. =/=

Wethern: =/= We will look into it but suggest we keep our guests at least away from sickbay for now until we know what is going on. =/=

Fairhug: =/= Understood. Fairhug out. =/=

There was no privacy to discuss this - but Ross could sense the same feeling of unease in Bryce and Fairhug. Regress. That could mean anything and nothing - but it wasn't a good thing with their guests around.

Fairhug: We will be taking the turbolifts to the Ivory Tower. The base’s diplomatic hub. It’s a short ride.

Ross gave a thoughtful nod, gesturing at the lift.

Ross: Please, after you.

Dylan offered Sael a small, deferential gesture toward the turbolift doors, inviting rather than ushering.

Bryce: The Ivory Tower is designed to be calmer than most of the station. If you prefer more or less security presence around you while we travel, please tell us and we’ll accommodate within station protocols.

His colleagues were doing the right thing - focusing at the task at hand. Still, Ross couldn't help but throw a worried glance towards the window frames of the docking bay before stepping into the lift. Whatever was going on in Sickbay, it didn't sound good.

(TBC)
