((XO’s Office, USS Narendra))
Haukea smiled, nodded and gave a friendly salute towards Doctor Trovek before leaving. The Risian and the nurse walked quietly together towards the turbolift, the nurse calling out the correct floor. Again they rode in silence. Exiting, the nurse silently walked her towards the correct office, leaving to head back to her own duty post only once she had been dropped off at the correct location.
Quickly Haukea smoothed out her uniform, and ran a hand through her frizzy hair. Not looking back she rang the door-chime.
DeVeau: Come in!
Hearing that she was allowed to enter the all important office of the First Officer, Haukea-Willow entered, walking confidently, a welcoming smile on her face as she greeted the woman in front of her.
Willow: Good morning Ms. DeVeau.
While it was polite to call an individual by their name, rank often came as an afterthought. If a person’s rank was unknown, and no time could be given to check the pips on their uniform, It was best to leave it unsaid. At this moment though, Haukea wanted to be perceived as friendly and not as a serious, overly excited new officer, therefore she left rank out of the equation. Ms. DeVeau positively smiled, lips curling up towards her eyes, her head bowing politely in response.
DeVeau: Good morning…
Haukea-Willow’s impression was that Ms. DeVeau was an extremely busy woman. It was likely hard for her to keep track of all the new officers and other individuals that were coming on board every day. Ms. DeVeau not knowing her name on their initial visit, one didn’t surprise her and two did not bother her in the slightest. On the other hand, beyond a busy schedule, Ms. DeVeau, with a beautiful smile, appeared similarly natured to herself; Kind-hearted, and enthusiastic.
Willow: Ensign Haukea-Willow ma'am. Newest security officer. Just on-boarded earlier this morning. Thought I would stop by and introduce myself.
The Risian women's enthusiasm must have been catching in the way her words had Ms. DeVeau’s mouth twitching in obvious glee. Haukea gave a charming tinkling laugh, a smile spreading across her face.
DeVeau: Well, I would hope so. That does tend to be a requirement one shouldn’t overlook.
Haukea-Willow had merely considered the act of an introduction polite. Giving another slight laugh of joy she shook her head, her frizzy waves bouncing, as she recognized the slight hiccup in her intentions. Not that she was embarrassed by it, not in the slightest. Haukea only found it funny and in her own nature to think of politeness above requirements and duty.
Ms. DeVeau in return politely motioned for her to take a seat opposite her at her desk.
DeVeau: Please have a seat.
Willow: Sure!
Haukea sat down across from Ms. DeVeau, crossing her legs and folding her hands on top of her knees. Slouching in a comfortable position was not the first impression she wanted to give. Yet, out of habit she allowed her spine to hunch in. No excessive ridgeness for her. As she waited she noticed the way Ms. DeVeau tapped on her console.
DeVeau: Well, why don’t you take a moment to tell me a little about yourself.
Willow: My file says a lot of it already. What more do you want to know?
DeVeau: What I see will give me information, yes, but I find it much more interesting to hear things strange from the source.
Reminded Haukea of the way she liked to paint not from reference photos but by being out in nature, with the source of her inspiration being right in front of her.
Willow: Well I grew up on Risa. Suraya Bay to be exact. Which meant a large deal of tourism every year due to the Festival of the Moon.
DeVeau: Response
Willow: What else?! Well, I’m into oil painting and holo-photography. Oh and before my academy days I was in the Risian security force.
DeVeau: Response
Willow: That’s correct. I went from the Risian security force to security officer in Starfleet. There are distinct differences in the way the two divisions work. Yet I plan to not let them influence me.
Haukea spoke with an excited lilt to her voice. Her words nearly running together with their speed. However there was no stopping her. Haukea was a naturally fast talker.
DeVeau: Response
