((Paws and Tails Day Spa - StarBase 118))
Shandi: Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!
::The usually jubilant young Dreon assistant for the Paws and Tails day spa was rushing around in a near-panic, eyes widened as her breathless protests filled the air.::
Madam Prokovief took in a deep breath and tried to settle the hyperactive young woman before she disturbed the clientele.::
Madam Prokovief: Calm, child. Be calm. What is it?
Shandi: D-d-d-Duchess! She... she dug out of her pen!
::This wasn't unusual. Targs were expert escape artists.::
Madam Prokovief: ::With the grace of an aging matriarch who had seen it all.:: Did you check the food cellar.
Shandi: ::She nodded an assent:: I did! It was eaten through! And no sign of Duchess!
::That gave the Madam pause. She was used to the diva targ, and used to the high prices her diva owner paid to have her pampered at the pet spa. But Duchess didn't tend to disappear too far. She predictably stuck closest to where the best food, alcohol and pampering was available.::
Madam Prokovief: Really? Are you sure?
Shandi: And... the back door is open... ::Squealing a little in panic::
Madam Prokovief: Oh no!
Shandi: Oh yes!
Madam Prokovief: Oh no! ::She took in a deep breath and headed towards her office.:: Secure the spa for the other guests, I need to make a call...

((Ops Hub - StarBase 118))
::It was a quiet afternoon on the Ops hub. It was usually a quiet afternoon on the Ops Hub hen the senior staff was away. Funny that.
Ishreth Dal was unusually quiet lately. His altercation and subsequent dismissal from what he had hoped to be a quiet and relaxing evening had hit him harder than he cared to admit. He missed his homeworld and the many layers of family support that living in a clan structure brought. Out here in the depths of space it hammered home to him how big space was, and how far away home was.
For some people StarBase 118 felt like home. He knew the Captain was one of them. Ishreth hadn't warmed up to the base in that way - not yet. He didn't know how long he would be posted here so he was always wondering what was coming next in life. Each new day felt a little like he was muddling through a quagmire of Starfleet duty while trying to raise a growing and lovely little girl. He kept wondering if he was doing it right.
Actually he wished the hub would get busy so he would stop pacing and dwelling on such things.
One should be careful for what they wish for.::
Uzalla: ::The communications officer turned towards him:: Major, you have an incoming call from the Ashalla district.
Dal: ::His antennae flared upwards in curiosity:: I'll take it in the ready room.
::Ready room was the nickname for the extra office that was open for whoever was covering the hub who was not the CO or ExO. Captain Taybrim has a lovely personal office that stayed locked when he was not there. Commander Whittaker had a smaller but still lovely personal office that stayed similarly locked. The "ready room" was a small, comfortable but bland and impersonal office that was never locked and served as the place for whoever was acting command at the time to, well, take calls from the civilian population like this one.::
Dal: =/\=StarBase 118 Ops hub, Major Dal speaking... =/\= ::Professional. Cool.::
Madam Prokovief: =/\= Oh, Major! I need your help! =/\= ::She gushed, leaning towards the screen:: =/\= It appears we have a doggy-napping at the Paws and Tails Day Spa! =/\=
::Ishreth paused, perking a single antennae up in irritation::
Dal: =/\= Madam...=/\= ::He looked her name up:: =/\=Prokovief... station security can handle a case of a missing dog...=/\=
Madam Prokovief: ::with a tiny huff:: =/\=They sent me directly to you.=/\=
Dal: =/\=Why...?=/\= ::He queried suspiciously::
Madam Prokovief: =/\= Because... it... it isn't a doggy napping. It's a miniature targ napping and we can't find Duchess anywhere! She not even within range of our scanners!=/\=
::Ishreth closed his eyes putting two fingers to his temples. This could become a massive headache.::
Dal: =/\= I see.=/\= ::pause:: =/\= I will look into it, Madam.=/\=
Madam Prokovief: ::Gushing again:: =/\= Oh thank you Major! Thank you!=/\=
::The Andorian slumped back into the office chair as the commline closed. How was he supposed to track down a famous missing targ without alerting the civilian population? Well, step one was scan for Duchess. The problem being that internal sensors were keen but they took a long time to pinpoint something in the commercial sector. Starfleet ships had sensor relays in every corridor and along every junction. StarBase 118 had the same in the Starfleet parts of the base - but in the civilian sector the sensor relays were largely omitted to give some respect and privacy to the people living within. Of course the station could scan externally and could monitor things they found suspicious; but just picking out a particular biosign from the masses? That took preparation and time.
Ishreth needed help in this...::
Dal: ::Standing and tapping his commbadge:: =/\=Major Dal to Lieutenant Kro...=/\=
Kro: =/\= ?
Dal: =/\= I have an unusual assignment for you, Lieutenant. We have a missing persons report for a sensitive subject who we need to locate in the civilian sector and return to her family as quickly as possible.=/\=
Kro: =/\= ?
Dal: =/\= yes, grab Rozera and Gazkra if they are available. In fact, grab anyone who is available and able to operate quickly and without drawing too much attention to themselves.=/\=
Kro: =/\= ?
Dal: =/\= Up on Ops hub, I'll see you shortly. =/\=
Kro: =/\= ?
::As he hung up the line he made a call to various other departments soliciting help and asking everyone to gather at the hub. With any luck they could find this targ and fix his thing before the Diva found out...::
