((XO’s Office, USS Narendra))
With another beaming smile offered by Ms. DeVeau, Haukea-Willow smiled back, her cheeks blushing in the process. She had been complimented on her combat skills and even if it sort of rolled off her, she was proud and confident of the protection she could provide for many various and diverse individuals during her time with Starfleet.
Willow: Thank you Ms. DeVeau. I appreciate it.
DeVeau: I’m always happy to hear more about others, as I enjoy learning about people. But if you’re tired of talking about yourself, I can go ahead and help you pick out quarters so they’ll be ready for you when we get to Ops.
Haukea could talk about herself and interests for a long while when given the chance, yet, she was equally excited to learn more about her residence on the Starbase. She wondered if she would have enough room to set up her easel and what sort of view of the Base and stars beyond she would be given.
Willow: While I love talking about myself, I think I would like to learn more about the Starbase and residence there.
DeVeau: Understandable! Do you have any questions?
Of course she had questions, Haukea always had questions, even so basic and simple as why? Questions opened up doors, allowed her to discover new words and opportunities. While Ms. DeVeau tapped on a data PADD Haukea spoke.
Willow: What sort of quarters are given to new officers?
DeVeau: Do you have something in mind?
Ms. DeVeau looked up from her data PADD screen, eyes shining bright as she flashed another smile. Haukea nodded, indicating her thought process. Knowing that most officers on ships had to share quarters, Haukea was unsure how the procedure worked on a large Starbase with a seemingly endless amount of room. Frankly, whether or not she had a roommate she would be happy, so long as she got her own space and room to paint. A good view, of the stars or the main thoroughfare, was merely an extra special, golden star worthy bonus.
Willow: I don’t mind what I am given. I just hope there is enough room to set up my easel.
DeVeau: Your easel?
The bright-eyed Risian could have sworn she mentioned her talent for traditional style paintings previously when talking about herself. Either way, she never grew extremely frustrated due to having to repeat herself, so of course, she jumped right in to explain.
Willow: Yes, for my painting. I do a lot of oil paintings. Traditional I know. Mostly I paint landscapes. Back on Risa I often painted the beaches around Suraya Bay.
DeVeau: Oh, that sounds wonderful. I’d love to see some of them when you get them set up.
Willow: I’d love to show you some time, once I’ve gotten them set up. Do you paint?
The question was more important than the answer in this case. It was away to find entry to get to know the person, Ms. DeVeau, that she would be serving with. As she waited for an answer Ms. DeVeau finished tapping on her PADD and handed it over.
DeVeau: No, actually, I’m more into music, but I appreciate art and the skill behind it. Now, you’ll see there one layout that’s available, and if you scroll, you’ll see more. You can choose what you like. Alternatively, you can also check out what’s available in the commercial district - we do have some officers who live there.
Willow: I see…there is so much to choose from, I think it might be somewhat difficult. ::Her voice was light and joking::
DeVeau: You can also always change your mind at a later time if you so desire, so don’t feel too much pressure.
Willow: I’m sure I’ll be happy with whatever I choose. I’m not really that picky.
DeVeau: Response
Willow: I do see that there is an apartment complex in the Hong Kong Subdistrict. That could provide for some interesting people watching.
DeVeau: Response
Willow: Do you have any recommendations? Places with a good view?
