Ryden leaned back against the side of the boat, bare toes grazing the wood, letting the salt breeze whip across his face. The steady rhythm of the waves had lulled him into a calm, but Sasch’s sudden burst of energy drew his attention.

He grinned as she spoke, watching the way her whole expression came alive.

Kel: You don’t have to feel guilty. I mean... maybe a little... but this? This is incredible, Sasch. Quantum Slipstream? That’s not just rare, that’s practically mythological. ::He leaned forward, eyes widening a little in awe.:: I studied those drives in my first year at the Academy. Most people never even see one up close, let alone fly with it.

Kreshkova: I vill usually be flying at a warp factor of 9.99. It’s state of the art technology and most ships don’t haf a drive like zhis. As corny as it sounds, zhis really is zhe chance of a lifetime.

Kel: That’s not corny. That’s epic. ::He gave the mainsail rope a lazy tug to adjust course, then looked back at her with a smirk.:: But I’ve gotta ask... what are you most excited about? The speed, the tech… or just the bragging rights?

Kreshkova: And Yes! I haf named the nacelles, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr. I know. Horrid names, but zhose are zhe names of zhe two goats zhat pull ::Scrunches up her face:: Thhhhor’s chariot. ::She laughed.:: I am going to hate trying to say zhat name! I zhought it fitting.

Kel: ::He laughed, head tipping back, wind catching the bangs of his hair::
You named the nacelles after Thor's goats? That’s... okay, honestly, that’s very you. Absolutely unhinged and weirdly poetic.

The boat tilted slightly as the wind caught full in the sail, sending them skimming forward with a soft whoosh of speed. Ryden grinned, bracing himself with one hand while the other adjusted the rudder.

Kel: Okay, now we’re moving. You weren’t kidding... this thing really flies when it wants to.

He glanced over at Sasch. There was a brightness in her eyes he hadn’t seen in weeks. It made something settle in his chest... relief, maybe. Gratitude. A reminder of why this mattered. Why they mattered.

Kel: You’re different out here. Like… not weighed down. I like seeing you like this. You deserve it.

Kreshkova: ?

He let the words hang there for a moment, then looked back toward the horizon. The station felt like a world away out here... its pressure, its people, the silence in his quarters since Sam left. The ache he’d been ignoring nudged closer, uninvited but persistent. He exhaled slowly.

Kel: It's weird, you know. I thought I was getting used to change... transfers, new quarters, new missions. But I wasn’t ready for Sam to leave.

He didn’t look at her, not yet. Just focused on the water slipping past the hull.

Kel: It wasn’t just… what we were starting. It was how solid he made everything feel. Like… even when things were chaotic, I could find my center around him. And now... ::He finally turned, giving her a small, self-deprecating smile.:: Now I’m back to figuring out how to balance without a counterweight.

Kreshkova: ?

A gust of wind tugged at his curls. He let it go, let it lift the heaviness for just a moment.

Kel: Anyway. I didn’t bring you out here to be depressing. Just… thanks. For being here. This helps more than you know.

Kreshkova: ?

((OOC: feel free to move to a more light-hearted subject matter if you'd like).
