((Sickbay - USS Narendra))

At that Haukea turned sharply, exiting sickbay, coffee abandoned. She would walk back to security, taking the comm call along the way. Such an act allowed for efficiencies; they couldn’t afford any more delays. She couldn’t afford any more missed time away from the information that truly mattered.

Halfway between sickbay and main security, The Narendra cast acutely to one side, listing. Her balance, while solid, wasn’t what it once was, causing her to nearly lose her footing. Though remaining upright, hand on the wall for added support her combadge chirped.

McLaren: =/\= McLaren to Willow. Could you meet me in the main security office. I'd like to track down these potential systems breaches, and we may have some Romulan involvement. =/\=

Willow: =/\= Willow here. I’m already on my way. =/\=

McLaren: =/\= See you there. =/\=

((Main Security - Deck 2))

Main security held a large open space, allowing for conference, yet contained several computer banks down the edges. Likewise, security accommodated numerous small-scale rooms for offices, including her own, and weapons banks.

Entering main security the pair got straight to work.

McLaren: Thanks for meeting me. We certainly seem to be in the thick of it again, don't we?

Willow: That’s part of why we signed on, didn’t we? For the adventure.

For ‘Ad Astra Per Aspera/To The Stars With Difficulty.’ A phrase of Starfleet marketing that inspired an undesirable longing of hope, betterment and not least of all adventure. She was certainly one of many caught in the advertisement.

McLaren: Your team found systems breaches, correct? Can you tell me what specifically? I'm just trying to get a handle of what is happening.

Despite her desire to entertain more action within her own position as chief of security, Haukea found it unusual to be in lack of information, yet be called to for opinions, answers, and plans of attack.

Willow: I’m not entirely sure myself what was found. Kel and Wethern described it as sensor ghosts within the computer systems as they were prepping medical equipment. What is known is that an individual, or perhaps a team, did access the coding and tamper with it. Slight enough changes to not be noticeable or heavily impact operations. Yet who can say what was actually done.

Being chief of security was a kin to fishing in the ocean. Even on Risa a fascinating portion of the oceans it contained were unexplored, species unknown. You could understand its mechanics, the act of fishing, sailing, swimming, surfing yet still face an unexpected storm. The current predicament, regardless of the metaphor, which tended to obscure reality, totally hinted at their current predicament.

McLaren: ::Leaning against the desk:: There were no indications of who might have done it?

The storm, chalk grey clouds, fluttering on the horizon, their plight was coming in fast.

Willow: We are still trying to work out if it was one of our own or not.

McLaren: There's a possibility it could be Romulan involvement... ::she paused, wondering how it could have happened while they were underway already:: One of the ships trapped in the black hole is Romulan.

Willow: That is a distinct possibility.

A high likelihood that she did not dare imagine, though had to face. McLaren herself fished through the data, accessing the results Kel and Wethern had found.

McLaren: If they managed to access our systems through all this interference... I would be nothing short of impressed. The Narendra has some of the most advanced computer security in the fleet... I saw to that after Frontier Day.

Hesitation that she did not pry on. Though scientific advancements, at a rate ny unstoppable, necessitated improvements.

McLaren: I hesitate to think there might be an agent aboard, but we have run into them quite a lot recently...

Willow: Until we know for certain we have to assume we have an infiltrator.

McLaren: It's definitely Romulan in origin...

Willow: That will allow us to cancel out a great deal of individuals who are not at fault. Unless our Romulan friends have partnered with a non-Romulan species.

McLaren: But none of the changes occurred until we arrived in the system... why I wonder?

Willow: Proximity, control. They may want us to go home limping.

McLaren: Response

Willow: Despite it, we are creating system back ups. I am almost hesitant on what to do next, apart from doing a full system scrub which is time consuming.

McLaren: Response

Willow: On the other hand, it is worthwhile to prepare weapons. Thoughts?
