(OOC – as Commander Fairhug is still under the weather, allow me to keep the scene going with some milestone ribbons!)
((The I’vish Gallery, Shi’Kahr District, Starbase 118))
Wyn settled himself near the front knowing that, as the station’s executive officer, he had a job to do and part of that job was to ensure this awards ceremony was successful.
Therefore Commodore Taybrim – sneaky man that he was – had tasked him with a few awards to give out to keep the celebration going while Commander Fairhug prepared all the big announcements.
Fairhug: First of all, I want to say thank you, once again, to you all.
Wyn nodded to Madison. He was surprised how lovely this place was, and agreed that she had done a fantastic job.
Fairhug: Our last mission was a particularly stressful one. There were times when I thought, as I'm sure some of you must have, that we might not make it back to the base at all. But as always, this crew never gives up and *always* finds a way.
That was absolutely true. Wyn lifted his glass to cheer with the others, proud of the job that thew crew had done.
Fairhug: So, cheers! To you all.
Marsh: Cheers!
Foster: a toast, to all of you!
He was happy to cheer, to toast and to drink.
Any: Response
Fairhug: As you all know, we have lost some of our colleagues recently. Fortunately, only to other postings, but their absence is still felt, of course. ::pausing:: Lieutenants Tito and Kreshkova are participating in the launch of the USS Thor and Lieutenant Korras has offered his services to USS Khitomer in their struggle against a new and powerful enemy. ::raising his glass again:: We wish them all well in their new roles and hope to serve with them again one day.
The movements of Starfleet were fast and exciting, and he had just a short time to get to know some of the officers who were given opportunities to do fascinating things out there in the delta quadrant and the… he wasn’t exactly sure where the Khitomer operated but he would have to look that up.
He was sad to see them leave and yet excited to see them have new opportunities.
Marsh: It's too bad I wasn't able to wish them the very best. I'll have to send them messages at some point this week.
Willow: Response
Foster: The Thor has been the first major launch after Frontier Day, to much fanfare. Congratulations to all of them!
Any: Response
Fairhug: Now, while some fine officers have departed, others have arrived. It is always a pleasure to be able to introduce new crew at a ceremony such as this, so please, give a warm welcome to ::holding out a hand indicate the Andorian:: Ensign Mi'shune sh'Sonora, our new Helm Officer.
He offered an animated – almost human – grin.
Foster: Welcome onboard!
Any: Response
sh'Sonora: Response
Fairhug: Also, Ensign Lyra Voss, a new addition to the Science department.
He had only seen Lyra in passing, but already could tell she had a sharp mind.
Marsh: Welcome Lyra!
Foster: I’m excited to have you with us!
Any: Response
Voss: Response
Fairhug: ::another slight turn:: Ensign Arlo Zara, who will be joining the Engineering team.
Ah, Wyn had certainly met Arlo. They had a fantastic adventure sailing the high seas… or lake in the city center. Either way it was extremely memorable.
Foster: Welcome onboard matey! May we ever sail the seas together!
Any: Response
Arlo: Hello, everyone! Very excited to be serving with you all.
Fairhug: And last but not least, Ensign James Taylor. Another much-needed Engineer.
Ah, Taylor. He had read Taylor’s medical record and it was interesting to say the least. Wyn cheered again, smiling.
Foster: I’m glad you can join us, ensign! You took quite a trip to get here!
Any: Response
Taylor: Response
Fairhug: It is my honour to welcome you all to StarBase One-One-Eight as newly minted Ensigns. I hope that your careers will be long and successful and I look forward to getting to know you all as time goes by.
Foster: And remember, we’re here to help you succeed!
Any: Response
He stood up, heading towards the center stage as Gogi moved to gather his wits and awards.
Foster: Forst, let me propose a toast! To the crew of StarBase 118! We endure, we preserve, and we support each other! And then we get to play hard because we worked hard! To you!
Any: ?
He drew in a deep breath and headed to the podium.
Foster: Now, bear with me for a moment, because I have a few awards to hand out…
He looked furtively at Gogi, pretty sure the Commanding officer didn’t know about this. But then again, this was by the Commodore’s order. So it was fine, right?
Any: ?
