(OOC – I summarized some things to keep this a little shorter!)

((Beachfront, Raskor II))

This was not Wyn Foster’s first rodeo. Nor his second or third or fourth. As far as he knew it might be his forty fourth.

And yet, despite knowing the script he felt a strange nervousness.  His head was full of thoughts and he tried very hard to separate himself from that big puddle of thoughts and to focus on the ceremony.

Taybrim: Gathered friends, faces new and old. I want to welcome you all to Raskor II, and to this celebration of your accomplishments. ::he placed a hand on his chest:: I am humbled and thrilled to be able to share this time with you. However, to start I do want to let you know that Captain Fairhug did arrive on Bardeez safe and sound, and the Bardeezan doctors were able to apply the memory recovery that our medical staff pioneered. He hopes to return soon, once he is fully recovered. He shares his well wishes and pride at your accomplishments. I promise I will pass on any communications I receive from him. ::The Commodore paused and continued:: But let me turn towards those present. I want to start by welcoming back Lieutenant Haukea-Willow, our Chief of Security, and Lieutenant S’zurak, our tactical officer.  You both missed quite the interesting mission, and we’re very glad you are back!

Hey!  He knew both of them!  He still remembered having an absurd conversation with S’zurak about trading pants – formal party slacks in fact. Because of course Wyn’s mind went to the most absurd conversation he had ever had with a person.

Then again he didn’t think he ever had an absurd conversation with Haukea-Willow.  She was a very lovely person and all their conversations seemed sane.

Wyn would chalk that up to Willow being sane.  The jury was still out on his sanity.

Willow/S’zurak: ?

Foster: Welcome back, both of you!

Taybrim: Now, onto official welcome, starting with Ensign Alok Munshi, you joined the crew of StarBase 118 during the New Year’s awards ceremonies and while it is quite overdue, I could not let you get away without an official welcome!

Munshi: ?

Taybrim: I am thrilled that you are here to join us again, and I’m glad you were able to help the crew out on the last mission.

Munshi: ?

Ross: Welcome to the show!

Foster: Welcome, Enisgn!

Taybrim: And StarBase 118 has been particularly fortunate with our incoming Engineers, for not only do we have Ensign Munshi, but we also officially welcome Ensign A’Mayri!

A’Mayri: ::respectful bow of her head:: Thank you sir, and to all the crew. It is an honor and privilege.

Taybrim: I could not have asked for a better graduating class to join our ranks!

A’Mayri: My fellow graduate and I are eager to provide support.

Taybrim: And in saying that, let me officially welcome your fellow graduate Ysatch Tori, our new Communications and Operations officer!

Ysatch: :: smiling his most normal smile :: Thank you sir, very excited to join the crew.

Taybrim: I am very excited to have you both with us on Ops and I know you will both be fantastic additions to the crew for our upcoming missions.

Ysatch: For anyone I haven't had the chance to meet yet, let's chat soon! Tonight! Not now, after this! I'm going to stop talking now.

Foster: Welcomes to the both of you!

He beamed, hoping he would get a chance to know any newer crew he had not met yet better as they worked through their upcoming mission.

Taybrim: And now let me propose a toast, to the crew of StarBase 118 Ops. To the seasoned officers who guide with experience and wisdom, to old friends who we have shared many adventures with together.  To the experienced officers who lead though passion and energy, who are growing and learning and become a bridge between old and new. To friends who we are growing close to. And to our newest officers, bring new ideas, new skills and bright new futures to the team. New friends who fill us with excitement and energy. To all of you.  Thank you for sharing this evening.

Ysatch: Here here!

Sylvax: To all of you.

Voss: To 118!

Ross: Cheers, guys.

McLaren: Welcome all!

A’Mayri: To future endeavors.

Foster: Cheers to an amazing crew!

Any: ?

Wyn settled back as Commodore Taybrim started handing out awards.  He noticed Evan Ross’s nervous energy – oh he very much empathized with that energy. The only reason Wyn wasn’t feeling the same was, well, experience really. You do it enough times over and over again and you get used to it.

He beamed and cheered for Ryden as he was recognized, very personally thankful that Dr. Sylvax had been able to help them all restore their memories.

He congratulated Alok Munshi for his hard work, remembering the man joining the crew on New Years during the last celebration.  He had immediately jumped in doing a laudable job.

Of course he cheered for Sol. She was one of his best friends, like a sibling. He always wanted a sibling when he was a kid and found them only in Starfleet. He was happy when the Commodore said he was proud of Sol. She had worked so hard and recently was showing how much experience had trained her into a leader as well.

Taybrim: Ensign Voss, Ensign sh’Sonora and Commander Foster – all three of you experienced the memory loss effect. Now, I will admit there is no award in the Starfleet database for those who experience memory loss and still focus your will and your actions towards working with your crewmates to make the mission a success despite the hardship you are undergoing. But I did want to personally recognize that each of you made the choice, even with the memory loss, to focus on what needed to be done. To trust your fellow crew, and to work together to successfully reverse the memory loss, protect the starbase and keep over one hundred thousand civilians safe.

Voss: ::with an awkward little nod:: Thank you.

sh’Sonora: ?

He could almost sense the weird, awkward energy, despite the Commodore’s warm tone.  So Wyn moved forward and spoke with the confidence and calm that only experience granted him.

Foster: Thank you, Sir. We appreciate the recognition.

Taybrim: If any of you ever doubted that you belonged in Starfleet or that you have earned the accolades you receive, wipe that doubt from your mind. Under the greatest duress you all achieved what others in the galaxy could only dream of.

Voss: Hey now. I don’t think I want any more things wiped from my mind, even if they’re doubts.

Wyn echoed Evan’s chuckle.

Foster: I agree, I worked too hard for these memories and experiences to lose them again!

sh’Sonora: ?

Ross: Well done, great work!

Any: ?

And then the awards continued.  Wyn was boggled at how the Commodore could keep track of all of this. Then again he wasn’t surprised.  He had helped give out awards and seen Gogi’s script.

Taybrim: Ensign Voss, after researching what had happened, you ventured into the civilian sector with Lieutenant Drex and Doctor Wethern to locate the source of the memory loss. You focused your fellow crew, you helped create a containment field, that rendered the artifact inert and that allowed our medical teams to enact the reversal procedure. All of this while you were struggling against the effects of the very thing you worked to contain. For this I recognize your excellent efforts with the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon.

Voss: That’s very… ::ahh, very what? no, abort:: Thank you.

Ross: ::quietly:: I gotta watch you, sounds like you're taking my job!

Foster: Excellent work, Ensign!

He meant it, he had been glad she had been on his team, even if it was a confusing time.  She helped them navigate the absurdity.

Any: ?

Taybrim: Ensign sh’Sonora, you had some close encounters. But you also were an integral help in getting the Beau Soleil back on course and helping your team control the weather patterns in the civilian sector. Your skill at piloting was critical, and it is even more impressive how much your retained of that skill with the memory loss. For your extraordinary focus in your chosen discipline, I want to recognize you with the Spliced Mainbrace Distinction.

sh’Sonora: ?

Voss: Nice work, Mi’sh!

Foster: Your skills shine even though hardship ensign!

Mi’sh was someone he admitted he was intensely curious to spend more time with.  She had an energy that was infectious and a refreshingly rebellious when it came to all the stuffy aspects of Andorian culture that wyn tried to avoid.

Any: ?

Taybrim: And Commander Foster, despite memory loss, you remain one of the most dedicated and experienced doctors in the Trinity sector. Your willingness to be the test subject combined with your sharp medical observations helped Dr. Sylvax develop the best and safest way to reverse the memory loss. For this I want to recognize your work with the Innovation Ribbon.

He did his level best to not flush navy.

Foster: Thank you, Commodore.

He was proud of his medical skill.  Once upon a time he thought that was the only skill he needed.

Oh boy had the universe decided otherwise…

Any: ?

Taybrim took a deep breath and let the moment settle.

Taybrim: I think that just about covers things. ::His dark eyes sparkled once again:: Well, almost.  But before we get to the final stage, let me take a moment to once again congratulate this crew. You have proven that even when things are difficult you will work together, protect the people under our care and ensure a positive outcome.

Wyn raised his glass and settled back for the end of the show.
