((Deck 2 - Turbolift - USS Narendra.))

Yes, as an Ensign it was only right to pass the information towards the Chief of Security so that they could make the final call. It certainly was not their place to decide such things. Besides, as Ensign Sill-con mentioned, it was in their duty to determine the information worthy of giving towards the Chief’s attention, rather than potentially wasting other departments time with unnecessary information.

Equally, Haukea understood how such a basic question could appear strange towards a more experienced officer. Again it was merely part of her nature to double check her knowledge. To make sure that she had everything correct before proceeding. Similar to how the ancient mythical creature Santa always had a list and checked it twice.

Willow: I can certainly see the validity in letting the Chief decide on the usefulness of the information rather than going directly to other departments.

Sill-con: They are the chief of security, they have wisdom in such manners.

Willow: What other areas do you survey?

Sill-con: All of it.

Willow: I agree. Better to check all areas and be safe than sorry. The safety of the crew comes first.

Sill-con: Indeed… this is the last lift I have inspected. We shall inspect deck 4 at the main shuttle bay, then we head to deck, then deck 30 to make sure that the backup systems are ready in case of an emergency.

Willow: What about the backup systemes? I assume it would take far longer than necessary to inspect it all. Also I imagine we don’t have the exact qualifications.

Sill-con: A valid question, of course we won't inspect the backup system ourselves, we do not have the qualification for it, to obtain the information for the inspection we ask the Engineering department for the status of the backup systems.

((Deck 4 - Main shuttlebay - USS Narendra.))

Ensign Sill-con finished speaking right as the turbolift gave a high belled ping, doors opening to reveal the wide, expensive Main Shuttle bay. Many shuttlecraft could have been stored within such a space, providing for an expansive collection. Haukea, upon seeing the room, nearly wanted to hold out her arms and spin, taking in the grandness of the space. However, with such an action not being particularly professional, she held back. Even then the room could have been mistaken, what with the aforementioned grandness, for something it was not. No matter, since she knew what its use was for, Haukea-Willow stepped out of the lift, having been motioned by her fellow officer to exit first. Once Ensign Sill-con joined her, he moved slower than before. Haukea noticed, since he could be seen slowly observing the shuttle bay before them.

Haukea-Willow herself took a peaceful moment with which to solely observe Ensign Sill-con gazing about the room. People watching was an act that Haukea often participated in. Usually when she set out her paints and easel on the beach her eyes drifted to watch the other individuals playing in the sand and water. Never though did she judge the acts of the individuals she observed, merely wondered, created stories and entertained herself with her own observations. After a time Willow spoke, breaking the silence.

Willow: The Shuttlebay is rather large. We going to be able to inspect the whole area in the time we have?

Sill-con: Despite the size of the main bay it shouldn't take too long to inspect, we only need to make sure the surfaces are safe for shuttles to land on and the gates are well maintained.

Willow: I don’t believe you have mentioned the docking and gate systems before.

Sill-con: ::nod:: Indeed, the reason I haven't mentioned checking on the docking and gate operation systems is because these do not concern security. Systems and software get diagnosed and tested by specialists, the difference between these and the backup systems is that the backup systems are only used under emergencies while the other systems and internal mechanisms of the ship are getting actively used and therefore have a higher chance to detect errors earlier unlike the system that rarely if not never gets used.

Willow: That’s fair. I can see the reasonableness in inspecting only that which is used often, as you want to make sure it's in good condition so that it can continue being used. Shall we get started?

With that Haukea-Willow and Ensign Sill-con walked the length of the room, inspecting all necessary areas including the balance of the floor, to make sure it was level. Haukea mostly walked behind Ensign Sill-con, noting the way he conducted his duty, taking mental notes for her own record. Ensign Sill-con, surprisingly, was able to make steady work of the large area, the quietness allowing for dedication and focus.

Sill-con: I see that the main bay is operational and in good condition, some signs of usage are there but it is nothing major, only an expected consequence. I am in the hope that this detour so far has brought knowledge to you, what do you think so far?

Willow: I do believe the detour has been of use. I have taken several mental notes and now understand a larger aspect of our duty post.

Sill-con: I understand, well then i-

???: wait wait SLOW down!

An exuberant exclamation shouted, cutting off Ensign Sill-con as he spoke. A gate officer, attempting to do their job, had shouted, in surprise at the speed with which an incoming shuttle entered. It was definitely, by her knowledge, a speed that was far too fast to be safe, yet, by some miracle, managed to scrape against the floor grating, sending up sparks and slowing their descent.

Haukea, watching the scene unfold, noted the calm Ensign Sill-con held. She herself was just as calm. Her combat training and time in the Risian Security force allowed her to steady her breathing, assess the reaction of those around her and react as appropriately as possible. Yet, her curious nature sent a shiver down her spine. Haukea most definitely wanted to know what was going on.

Willow: Hello?! Somebody there?

Sill-con: It seems that someone has been slumbering in piloting classes… officer Willow, on me.

Ensign Sill-con, to Haukea’s eyes, remained calm as he walked towards the shuttle still speaking. Willow certainly wondered what they would find. Who would they find? Why were they here? Various thoughts tumbled through her brain as she lept to cover Ensign Sill-con’s six.

Willow: I got your six. Let's move slowly. We don’t know if there is more than one individual.

Sill-con: Response

Willow: Got it! I’ll come around next you once we fully enter the shuttle.

Haukea-Willow kept covering Ensign Sill-con’s six, walking into the shuttle backwards, stopping when they came just before the pilot's cockpit, sure no one else was following them.

Sill-con: Response

Willow: I’m certain no one else is out there other than us and that voice we heard.

Sill-con: Response

Willow: We should still be careful. I would hate to startle the poor officer.
