((Security Center, StarBase 118))
Haukea-Willow was one individual that actually preferred to be kept in the dark on information. Certainly having any information at all aided in the process, yet, in order to form her own opinion she found it necessary to not be swayed by others’ opinions. Plus, Haukea found it intriguing to act as a detective solving a mystery, piecing the information together as she went. It was no surprise that she walked into the Security Center on Starbase 118, wearing her gold uniform, with only a small handful of questions.
((Later...))
Sherlock: Commander, Ensign, Ensign.
DeVeau: Lieutenant. Ensigns.
Sill-con: Lieutenant commander DeVeau, Chief of Security Lieutenant Sherlock, Ensign Willow. ::he acknowledged each individual in this room::
Haukea-Willow nodded, waiting to be given the first pieces of tangible information before asking any pertinent questions. Waiting assured that she was asking relevant questions. Sill-con himself stood at the ready.
Sherlock: This is Raban. As you can see, he is a Suliban. He is actually descended from the Cabal and can change his appearance.
Haukea watched as Sill-con, a large, wide Brikar, blinked in what could only be called surprise. Haukea, limited her own surprise. She was passive, taking in the information.
Willow: Our task?
Sherlock: You two are going to interview him. Find out everything you can about his terrorist cell, who may have sent them, and what their plans were if they had succeeded.
Haukea made a list of the topics Sherlock mentioned.
Who sent him?
What are their plans?
What is the success rate of their plans?
She was, unlike Sill-con, it seemed, who blinked again at the order, relatively thrilled to interview Raban. It was her chance to act as a detective, piece together information, form her own opinion. It gave her a heart racing thrill that mission work did not. It was equivalent to conjuring up fantasies, daydreaming.
DeVeau: I would suggest you act like you know more than you do.
Haukea did well to mask her elation, keeping her face, body language, mannerisms, and conversation professional, something she often dropped when off duty.
Willow: What can you tell us?
Sherlock: All I can tell you right now ::beat:: is that he's a terrorist and may be partially responsible for the loss of a Starfleet vessel. The rest is classified. Which also means any information you get from him, will be classified.
DeVeau: Ask the hard questions. Hopefully you’ll get some answers.
Haukea, like with Terra Prime, was no stranger to asking the hard questions. She wanted to ask the hard questions. The hard questions revealed the best and most surprising answers. Such questions were what allowed for the puzzle to be pieced together. Though unlike with Terra Prime, Haukea was going to approach the “interview” with an internally rational mindset. Sill-con however didn’t seem so sure.
Willow: What can we expect when we go in?
Sherlock: Him? What to expect?
Haukea only asked the most relevant questions that prepared her for what she was going into initially; not about information she might obtain from Raban.
Sherlock: ::turning back to the others:: He's a right c.... ::beat:: controlling person. He'll manipulate and attempt to instill fear in search of that control. He's dangerous. But even restrained, don't ever think you're safe. Just assume at any time he could come at you, even if he can't.
Haukea, as a security officer, and previously considered semi-police of Risa, anticipated an unrestrained, uncooperative. That was an opinion she had formed previously from past experience, she allowed herself to bring it forward in anticipation of the new one.
DeVeau: Get as much information as you can. The more details the better.
Sill-con: As you command commander... I... we shall endeavor to commit our best.
Willow: Aye.
Sherlock: Response
DeVeau: We’ll be watching from here. If anything happens, we’ve got your back.
Sill-con: ::brows furrowed:: The gesture is appreciated Lieutenant Commander.
Sherlock: Response
DeVeau: Good luck.
Luck meant many things to many people. Haukea still wasn’t sure what it meant to her yet. Nevertheless, the gesture was well meant. She nodded, showing her acknowledgement before voicing one last question.
Willow: How long do you expect this “interview” to take?
Sherlock: Response
Sherlock’s answer satisfied Haukea. She expected as much. ‘As long as it took.’ Plain and simple. With that Haukea-Willow and Sill-con made way towards the “interview room”, their interviewee waiting inside. For a brief moment the two stopped to formulate a plan. Sill-con certainly wanted to be on the same page, more wary than Haukea with the lack of information.
Sill-con: Officer Willow.
Willow: Ensign Sill-con.
Sill-con: Before we enter the room there are some things I need to resolute with you.
Willow: And that would be?
Sill-con: Doesn't this scenario strike you as... odd?
Willow: Not one bit.
For a moment Haukea lets her professional mask drop, showing an enthusiastic grin.
Sill-con: Very well...What I mean is, this procedure is sudden, vague and we are not the most suited to handle it with no time for preparation. And we are not provided information that could aid us in this... there is something... unseemly about this.
Willow: I say we are given all the information available. That is all we need.
Sherlock/DeVeau/Sill-con: Response
Willow: We know what to ask, ‘who sent him? What are their plans? What is the success rate of their plans?’ We know he will be dangerous, will try to grab at us. That is all the information we need.
Sill-con: Response
Willow: Let me rephrase that. That is all the information I need.
Sill-con: Response
Willow: I can tell we have different working styles. I highly prefer to go in blind, gather information as I go, formulate my opinion, piece together the puzzle. You do not.
Sill-con: Response
Willow: I would prefer to come to a compromise so these styles don’t clash.
Sill-con: Response
