((OOC: Since we don't have a lot of time before we hit up Bajor, I'm going to push this along to the next phase. We don't have to do it complex, we can keep it simple since we may be short on time. Apologize for my delay in getting this out, OOC stuff happening.))
((Bridge, USS Glenn))
Monroe knew the Glenn wasn't for everyone. She wasn't setup to be the most flexible ship in the fleet. And to many, it did seem odd to have such a large ship dedicated to a relatively singular purpose. But Galaxy's were being pushed more towards being second line ships as the
Galaxy Problem became more and more evident.
Renot: It does seem odd, though I am an engineer, not a diplomat, so what do I know? I just fix things and make starship go zoomy zoom and give big base big power.
Monroe noticed the young lady in attendance trying not to laugh aloud. She liked this pair though, they seemed very informal for officers, a trait she actually preferred on her ship.
Vargas: And I give holograms personality. ::she shrugged:: So I am all for extravagance.
Monroe: It's a more subtle way of negotiating. By making representatives feel more at home, they often feel more compelled to listen and negotiate.
Diata: Understood.
Renot: I dunno about diplomats, but food wins me over.
Vargas: Same.
Monroe: The Glenn is really a testbed. For Engineering ::gesturing to Renot:: technology and upgrades for the future, all the way to new tactics and methods of diplomacy. A return, if you will, to pre-war methodology.
Diata: Interesting.
Renot: Isn’t it?
Monroe: Well, I'm glad you all think so.
Diata: I imagine you must be very proud of this fine ship, Captain.
Egil quietly nodded in agreement with Diata’s words, and so did Catherine.
Monroe: I am. Of her and especially my crew. Our mission, being so focused, has been quite successful.
Diata: Would we be allowed a more personal view of the modifications you have mentioned?
Renot: I am quite curious myself; though I think I am the only one who understands the technical stuff in detail? Not to assume or anything, I meant you can spare the engineer babble for the other’s sake.
Vargas: Me too, please. I've never seen a ship with these modifications before.
Monroe: Absolutely, we can. We'll get to that shortly.
Diata: ?
Renot: Has changes been made to the warp core, or is it still the original?
Diata: ?
The curious Engineer seemed enthusiastic about learning more.
Monroe: Actually, we currently are running the OR-300 from the warp fifteen project.
Renot: What about the impulse drive? Does the strange shopping centre decks affect hull or bulkhead integrity and pressures?
Monroe: We haven't seen any of those issues. Everything seems to be working just fine.
She gave the man a gentle smile. His enthusiasm seemed to be getting the better of him, at least it seemed he felt that way.
Diata: ?
Vargas: I would really like to see the holodeck and how the increased energy requirement is accounted for.
Monroe: They're quite impressive. We'll definitely tour them as well.
Diata/ Renot: ?
Vargas: I was on the USS Rheinfels during their experiment and I remember the holoemitters were always a point of concern.
A beeping began to eminate from the Ops console on the fore-port side of the bridge. Crewman th'Zaahlis, seated there, began to tap away at it.
th'Zaahlis: Cap, we're getting a message from 118. It seems there's a distress call from a civilian freighter that was enroute to 118 and they're asking us to check it out since we're not docked.
Monroe: Must not be too dangerous since they know we have a skeleton crew aboard.
Diata/ Renot/Vargas: ?
th'Zaahlis: Last message said they were under attack by pirates, Cap.
Monroe: Very well, let's get to it then. Red alert!
The lights dimmed and were quickly replaced with the pulsing crimson glow. The air filled with the sound of the klaxon.
Monroe: I need some volunteers. ::pointing to Renot:: Can you man the Engineering console? ::pointing towards the back of the bridge:: We're going to need the warp core up to full speed.
Renot: ?
Monroe: ::pointing to Diata:: Can you take the Helm?
Diata: ?
Monroe: Good, since we don't know what kind of ship it is, we may need to move quick in there...as quick as a ship this size can anyways.
Diata: ?
Monroe: ::to Vargas:: And you, young lady, you mentioned holograms, but can you run a science station?
Vargas: ?
Monroe looked around at the few others still standing around, she was just now noticing that Mel and his short friend were missing.
Monroe: Where the hell...?
Just then, the pair emerged from the corridor on the starboard side of the bridge.
Monroe: ::making a zipper motion up the front of her jacket while staring at Aine:: You, tactical, now. ::to Martinson:: And you, you're number one for now.
Sherlock: ?
Martinson: ?
Monroe: Helm, set an intercept course. ::taking the center chair:: Engage.
Diata/Vargas/Renot: ?
