((Shuttle - time skip))

To say that Ishreth Dal felt a little uncomfortable was an understatement.  But did it show?

Not really.  He almost always presented himself as stiff, polite, and formal.  A soft sort of formal that didn’t oppress others, but cool nonetheless.  That was his well-practiced high society mask, one that was engrained into him as a young child.

It served him well as a marine.  He always appeared to be some shade of stiff, dutiful, well-mannered formality no matter how comfortable or uncomfortable he was.

Still, he did have an honest desire to help.

Ki’yara: If you are willing… I am speaker.  I can connect with you more directly.  ::She looked to Ishreth first and then towards Blackwell, Trovek and Kasun.::

They had wondered about telepathy.  It seems that was now confirmed.

Dal: Are you comfortable with telepathic communication?

Blackwell::She nodded:: I am.

Kasun: I am also fine with it.

Trovek: I am.

As all three answered, he turned back towards the quite tiny woman and tipped both antennae forward.

Dal: I am also willing.

Did he love the idea?  No.  Was he looking forward to it?  No.

But was he willing?  Yes.

Ki’yara: Then please, stay still.  I can speak from here.

He tensed, wondering what the sensation would be like, but the telepathic touch was soft and polite.

And once again he was reminded of his daughter.  Was this Speaker just a girl?  Did she have parents on the ship?  Was she the only telepath left?

He tried to focus as her thoughts connected with his.  The ship was a geodesic dome.  They were suffering from an illness.  The Jenatris cloud had done damage to their engines and they were stalled.

Ki’yara: Please, help us…

And her father had recently died.  Oh no.  She didn’t mean to send that, he was sure.  He hadn’t meant to be curious.  But she reminded him of Tyva and that was the question weighing on his mind.  Her own telepathy was mild and her internal shields and barriers were weak.

She was a student.  And the master was murdered.

She had held her dying father in her arms.  It put a chill down his spine and empathy welled in his chest.

Dal: I think we can help you.  I think you can also help us.

It was the most formal, polite way of saying that, but internally his heart bled for her and that smoldering Andorian passion was stoked.

Blackwell: If we can get a detail of your ship - we can assist on repairs, and hopefully you might be able to help us. ::She nodded and offered as well:: I’d be happy to help with transcription and translation as we  communicate as well.

Kasun: They are highly trained engineers with extensive experience with different kinds of ships.

Ya’faemi: If they’re willing to listen to my team and not just assume then I’ll take the extra paws.

Dal: I have faith in Engineer Hael that he will be a team player.

Ishreth didn’t know of a single officer on the starbase that was more of a gentle soul and a team player than Rustyy Hael.  That, combined with being an engineering genius, was exactly what this situation needed.

Trovek: I’d like to review your medical database and the information you have on that …. illness. It sounds to me a bit like what my own species encounters in times of stress, but I would not want to want to make any assumptions.

Blackwell: I can agree that we’ve all had enough stress so I think…making it as easy as possible is a good start.

Ya’faemi: Things have been off but I figured it was due to the storm.

Ki’yara: Healer Se’vayan has all the data.  Though I believe he was going to try to contact your ship directly.

Dal: I’ll let Alora know.

It killed him to use first names, but he was deliberately avoiding rank and mirroring the Risuan’s titles.  Healer.  Engineer.  Speaker.

Commander might be construed as hostile.  And they had recently fended off a hostile attack.

So, ancestors forgive him, he called her Alora.

Trovek: ::she nodded:: It’s something we should be aware of when helping. Physical and Mental illness do complicate it.

Ishreth excused himself to make a few courtesy commline calls to the Rahuba as the Speaker remained with the group.

Ki’yara: Our group has been slowly getting ill.  It started after the first attack of the Vesuans, and greatly escalated when we entered the Endless Storm.  ::She paused:: What you call the ‘Jenatris Cloud.;

Blackwell::She finally glanced around:: So…how do we proceed? ::She glanced between Dal and Ki’yara::

Ya’faemi: I’d like to talk to your engineering team. If they’re going to be helping out it’s best to get things settled and established as soon as possible.

Kasun: Then I suppose we should start here with making sure it is safe for us to interact while the others are being called?

Ishreth returned looking at the group.

Dal: I can confirm, Healer Se’vayan contacted our Scientist Alora DeVeau, and they will be working together with the Healers from the Rahuba.

Scientist DeVeau… it wasn’t perfect but it would have to do.

Ki’yara: He is stiff in his ways, but is the best of generations.

Trovek: ?

Dal: Actually, understanding the damage they’ve taken and where their people are trapped, Doctor, if you’re up to it I could very much use the help extracting trapped crew.

Was he already planning how to rescue people?  Yes.  Because that was his primary job for decades and he was good at it.

Trovek: ?

Blackwell: I’ll do whatever I can to help ::She nodded, speaking through her mind was odd, and she caught herself saying it verbally and mentally::

Kasun: Indeed.

Ya’faemi: :: To Dal :: If you can connect me to the team then I should be able to take it from there.

Dal: Absolutely,  Engineer Hael is expecting your call, let me connect you.

Ya’faemi: ?

(OOC – we can assume you peel off into the new scene here  )

He drew in a breath and turned towards the group.

Dal: We’ll need EVA suits or a common atmosphere that we can both breathe.  ::He looked directly towards Trovek and Kasun:: Which most accessible?

Trovek/Kasun/Blackwell: ?

Ki’yara: I can request it, yes.  ::she tipped her ears downwards.::

Dal: Then I’d like to work on getting your crew out of the damaged areas.  By our scans it looks like the section of … ::His mind fished for the words she had used telepathically:: Old Green Woods sustained the worst damage and has lost all power and life support.

She tipped her head forward fractionally.  There was so much damage that she was having trouble keeping track of it, but when she checked quickly with Le’jun the answer was scary.

Ki’yara: We estimate there is four hours of atmosphere remaining in that section and there are two areas of collapse.

She tried to sound official.

She didn’t.

She sounded like a young teenager attempting to sound like an adult, but the fear and sadness rushed through despite admirable control.

Trovek/Kasun/Blackwell: ?

Dal: We do have that equipment.  ::He tipped both antennae forward.:: On deck 14, in the 292nd storage bays.

One of the benefits of having a support ship – you could clean out all the long term space voyage habitat areas and use them for storing useful things like more scientififc equipment or in this case more marine equipment.

And that wasn’t always weapons.  The 292nd Iron Jaegers had a quadrant renowed SARS team that was well trained in recovering victims from a variety of bad situations.

And this seemed like the perfect time to show off some of the pride of the 292nd in a more humanitarian way.

Trovek/Kasun/Blackwell: ?

Dal: Let’s get suited up, with the correct atmosphere and take a look at what we’ll be working with.

Ki’yara: When you are ready I will lead the way.

Trovek/Kasun/Blackwell: ?
