Ray enjoyed hearing the monk explain the cultural and religious significance of the Cela-leaf, and once the conversation moved to the aromatic properties of the tea, Ray’s mouth began watering as if he was one of Pavlov's dogs.

Sutter: ::addressing the monk:: Do you have any tea we can try or perhaps buy to take with us?

Ray really hoped the monk had some to try. The tea was abundantly available, so he could buy some elsewhere, but he really wanted to try some now. Of course, buying from the monk would be ideal as it would support their efforts.

DeVeau: Same question.

Monk: Absolutely! Please follow me.

The monk turned and led them to a small building just on the other side of one of the fields. Ray did not know what the original purpose of the building was, but he knew that its purpose was modified for the celebration due to its configuration.

The room had a cozy come in out of the rain feel with plenty of comfortable places to sit and enjoy some tea. As Ray was evaluating the room, a teapot full of Cela-leaf tea was presented to them along with three simple but elegant tea cups on a rustic tray. Accepting the tray, Ray followed Alora’s lead and sat down at an empty table near the back of the room.

Emlott: ::to DeVeau:: Thank you for taking me along, Alora. I really enjoy my time here. And on the Narendra.

DeVeau: Nonsense, I’m very glad you came.  I hope this means the opportunity to get to know you better in the future too.

Sutter: I second that thought, Ferri. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you a bit on this short adventure. Hopefully, we will have future adventures together.

Emlott: ::to Sutter:: I am Ambassador Zorkal's aide. But... ::she hesitated, and maybe she even blushed a little:: I admit I start to like how things are done in Starfleet. Even if they are different on Cardassia.

Sutter: I completely understand. Duty must come first, but I’m sure you have some time to get away ::glowing smile::. Also, I think Starfleet is awesome, but every organization has their strengths and weaknesses. That’s why I believe we can learn from each other. Everyone can alway improve.

DeVeau: Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying your time among us.

Emlott: Did you always know you wished to become a science-tist?

DeVeau: I would not say that I always specifically *knew* I wanted to be a scientist. I was, however, a collector.

Ray sipped his tea enjoying the feeling of the warm liquid in his throat while listening to Alora’s and Ferri’s exchange.

Sutter: Well, I always knew I wanted to be in Starfleet, but not necessarily a science officer. That interest did not develop until about two years before I joined the academy. Up until then, the only thing I was sure of is that I wanted to get out there and explore the stars ::motioning and looking towards the sky::.

Emlott: response

DeVeau: Ray has been witness to my small collection of plants, but back on Earth, I collected a few animals as well. Any time I found someone injured, I’d bring him home.  Inevitably, I became a scientist, specialising in Botany and Zoology.

That was an understatement. Ray felt like he was in a small jungle while standing in Alora’s quarters.

Sutter: Boy am I a witness. While I was in your quarters ::eyeing Alora, then looking at Ferri:: I felt as if I was on safari in an unexplored jungle ::laughing::.

Emlott: response

DeVeau: What about you Ferri?  Did you always seem to work in diplomatic relations?

Emlott: response

Sutter: Well, I have a great respect for people in your line of work. Navigating scientific data is one thing, but navigating people is something completely different. I don’t think anyone wants me in charge of diplomacy ::laughing::.

Ray’s mom was the master negotiator. She could always tell what people needed before they said anything and at times, even before they knew what they needed.

DeVeau / Emlott: response

Ray finished his tea and picked up the teapot to pour himself another cup but realized that there was only enough for one more. They must have drunk more than he thought.

Sutter: ::picking up the teapot:: It looks like there is only enough for one more cup. Any takers? ::looking at both Alora and Ferri::

DeVeau / Emlott: response
