((Transporter Room, USS Narendra))
Haukea-Willow, an average sized, short blond haired, freckled, grey-blue eyed and tanned Risian woman, bounded through the transporter system, appearing on board her first posting, having recently graduated from Starfleet Academy in San Francisco. She wore her uniform, grey scale with a hint of yellow-gold appearing underneath the collar. A white backpack was slung over her shoulder, packed full of all manner of semi-useful artifacts such as paintbrushes, tubes of replicated oil paint, and a holo-camera.
Hitching her backpack higher on her shoulder, Haukea, smiling like a ray of sunshine, took in her surroundings. She had come on board the USS Narendra, at the end of a recent mission, before the crew traveled back to their home, Starbase 118 Operations in the Trinity Sector; her first assignment as a security officer. Yet, based on her nature, Haukea hardly cared where they went. They could be traveling to the Delta Quadrant for all she knew and she still wouldn’t mind. What mattered more to her was the people she surrounded herself with.
It all came down to the open-natured, care-free spirit of growing up on Risa, surrounded by beaches, shockingly vibrant sunsets, and festivals bringing all sorts of tourists to the planet. Furthermore, growing up Haukea laughed, played, and showed a fiercely independent and protective personality, leading to a desire to serve, in both the Risian security force and Starfleet. Even with a previous background in security, she knew not to let it influence her current work, appreciating the stark and subtle differences between the two operations.
Nevertheless, stepping down from the transporter platform, Haukea turned to greet the officer waiting for her.
Willow: Ensign Haukea-Willow. Security. You can call me Haukea. You must be…
It was rude to not know a crewmate's name, according to Haukea. She considered it a point of pride to be able to recognize all crewmates, their name and preferred name off duty. Yet, with the information she had been given she was merely told someone would be greeting her, not exactly who that person would be.
Trovek: Response
Willow: Nice to meet you Trovek.
Willow held out a hand, gesturing for a handshake, a human habit she had picked up during her time at the Academy.
Trovek: Response
Willow: Why thank you. I appreciate the gesture.
The woman greeting her had curly brown hair, flowing down her back in soft ringlets, and blue eyes. If Haukea didn’t know better she would have considered her beautiful. However, now was not at all the time or place, not that she was looking for something of that sort, comfortable with where she was at.
Trovek: Response
Willow: I do have some on-boarding procedures to take care of such as a medical exam, counseling screening and a check in with the Chief of Security. But I don’t see why I couldn’t postpone those for a few hours for a warm welcome.
