((USS Rahuba - Turbolift to Science Lab 4))
Alora stepped off the bridge and into the corridor, her boots
sitting a quick rhythm against the floor as she hurried down toward
the turbolift. The crew had been tasked with studying a unique
anomaly, one that only appeared every 106 years. As far as anomalies
go, that one was rather unique. Generally, they were not quite so
regular. But this one was a proverbial Black sheep, and since it
appeared once more, now that the area of space was more inhabited,
they have the opportunity to study, observe, and learn. But, things
do not always go as planned. That was pretty standard when it came
to explosion in space, and Alora was no stranger to strange things
happening on missions. At least they didn't have to worry about
Klingon cultists, or insane overlords.
As they stepped into the turbolift, Alora and Ishani, set upon a
course to answer the questions that were now filling everyone's
minds. What had happened? Why had they been knocked out? How long
had they been unconscious? And now? It wasn't just a question of
where they were, but when they were. The data collected by the
probes had given her enough to know that this was beyond simply
moving in space. Something was off. Way off. Alora of course had a
theory, but she wasn't going to make any definitive declarations
until she had more concrete information. After giving the command
to the computer to send them to the proper deck, Alora tapped her
combadge.
DeVeau: =/\=DeVeau to Ensign Kevlak, report to science lab four.=/\=
There was little time for the discourse before the turbolift doors
opened, and Alora stepped out onto the deck. She wasted no time, but
immediately hastened down the corridor to the science lab in
question. Once more Commodores parted, allowing both her and Ishani
to enter. The ensign must have been nearby, for he was just behind
them.
DeVeau: All right.
Alora made her way over to a console, fingers tapping over the
surface.
DeVeau: Welcome to the team, Ensign Kevlak. In today’s episode of
‘What’s Going On Anyway’, we’re trying to figure out what just
happened with that anomaly we were sent to study.
Kasun/Kevlak: Response
Alora flashed a smile at the Tellarite. He was quite new, having
just been assigned right before the Rahuba launched. While no
longer her direct jurisdiction, Alora kept an eye on the Science
department, and she saw the man had potential. Well, he was about
to get some experience under his belt.
DeVeau: Okay, what we know. This anomaly appears in the same place
every 106 years. No one knows why, what it’s composed of, and we
were sent to find out more. We launched some probes, there was an
ionic spike, and boom. Lights out for everyone.
They still weren’t sure how long everyone had been unconscious, but
fortunately that particular event had been mild. Now, however, an
ionic storm was brewing behind them, and while some of the crew got
to deal with that, she and the other officers needed to find the
other pieces of the puzzle.
Kasun/Kevlak: Response
DeVeau: Upon waking, probe data confirmed the presence of a large
conglomeration of tachyon particles, temporal radiation, and that
suggests we may no longer be in our own time.
Alora was rehashing, but it was as much for her benefit as anything,
laying out the course of events that had brought them into the
present.
Kasun/Kevlak: Response
Alora glanced over at Ishani. El-Aurian’s were sensitive to that
sort of thing. She would know, though there were still other
questions. For instance, when exactly? They needed to get data
from the surrounding space and compare it to the ship’s internal
chronometer.
DeVeau: Kevlak, run a scan of the surrounding area, compare it to
what’s in the database and extrapolate what, if any, time difference
there is.
Kasun/Kevlak: Response
At the console she had claimed, Alora continued to run through the
different bits of information that had come pouring in. There was
another issue at hand as well.
DeVeau: We also need to -
Another shaking of the ship caused all of them to grip the
consoles. Another lash from the storm? That one was also less
severe - had the ship moved away? They needed to leave that to
the bridge crew while they tried to get other answers.
DeVeau: We also need to find out what happened to the anomaly.
