((Haukea and Amar’s Apartment, Starbase 118))
Today, due to the longevity of Haukea and Madison’s relationship, the Risian was ready to introduce her adopted daughter Amar to the former doctor. It was true, the two women had previously conversed about the integration of the 12 year old Amar into Haukea’s lifestyle, yet, Madison had thus far not been physically introduced. By the end of the day, if not within the next hour, that would change.
Once the doorbell rang, Haukea rose from the couch, admitting Madison into her quarters, greeting her with a warm hug.
Willow: Welcome. We are just through here in the living room. Amar sweetheart?!
Haukea called out to the child, providing a verbal warning of her presence before arriving. Such an action allowed for the formation of trust, along with respect. Yet in the mere moments from warning to arrival, Haukea gave a glance at Madison, having the perspective of a chasm of time since their last meeting. In the brief seconds Haukea had, admiring Marsh, it was clear the shorter woman had dressed in a more casual manner, white v-neck tee under a denim jacket paired with black skinny jeans, and leopard printed flats. Her sandy blonde hair free flowing. The Risian herself thought the ensemble made Madison appear all the more adorable.
Marsh: Hi there, you look nice.
Amar: Hello!
Entering the living space, Haukea took special care to notice Amar’s reactions, only on the off chance she had to intervene. Naturally Amar, face transforming from uncertainty to curiosity and finally glee, set the Risian at ease.
Amar: Is she ::pondering briefly:: your girlfriend?
Madison, face full of curiosity, passed the torch towards Haukea, allowing her to answer the question, and for good reason. While Madison had been informed of the adoption, it was true, the couple had yet, if not now, omitted to discuss if Amar knew the status of their relationship.
Willow, not wanting to be untruthful, stated the facts.
Willow: Yes Amar. Madison is my girlfriend.
Amar: Are you staying for dinner? Do you like chocolate? Have you ever been to the beach?
Despite the biological differences, Amar could have easily been mistaken for Haukea’s child. If only for the fact that the girl talked nearly as much and as fast as Haukea herself. Madison, certainly, which was lucky, seemed comfortable, taking a seat on the couch, conversing with the 12 year-old.
Marsh: Yes, I'm staying for dinner. Here come take a seat and I'll answer your questions.
Willow: ::Laughing in her bell like way:: It’s Amar’s turn to decide what we are having. Amar?
Amar: Response
As Amar gave her dinner selection, Madison shifted her gaze fully to the young girl. Haukea, herself, found joy simply in watching the two interact, eventually finding her way to an available seat.
Marsh: I do love chocolate, especially Cadbury. One of Earth's customs is to celebrate a holiday known as Easter. Candy shops made chocolate covered with a delicious candy shell. It's one of my favorites, have you ever tried it? If you haven't perhaps you can try some for dessert if that's alright with Haukea of course.
Willow: ::Laughing once again:: Chocolate for dessert?! It’s fine by me. So long as you brush your teeth real good afterwards.
Amar: Response
The beach, certainly for Haukea, was a staple for relaxation. Risa, naturally, being a planet with numerous beaches, meant that she was never far from one as she grew. Now, stationed on 118 with Little Risa at her fingertips, she attempted to make a trip to the beach at least every couple shore leaves, she had even taken Amar a time or two.
Marsh: I absolutely love the beach. Do you?
Amar: Response
Willow: If I’m not mistaken I took you to the beach on Little Risa on one of our first days together.
Amar/Marsh: Response
Willow: I’m sure she would love to.
Amar/Marsh: Response
Shifting in her seat, not from any form of anxiety, though perhaps underlying, if not subconsciously, Haukea considered her role as host. Providing for the comfort of Madison and Amar, while the two became acquainted, gave her a sense of pride and joy. She only hoped, seeming accurate, that Amar would like Madison, if only so it made for ease in future planning; though more importantly provide Amar with a stable environment.
Willow: We still have some time before dinner. Maddie, can I get you anything to drink? Amar?
Amar/Marsh: Response
