((Haukea and Amar’s Apartment, Starbase 118))

Haukea stood in the kitchen at the replicator, selecting the requested drinks, mango juice and Jumja tea. For herself she selected a decaffeinated cappuccino. Furthermore, for added flair, the Risian requested the orders in specialty mugs.

Any keen observer, it was clear, could notice the eclectic set of drink wear that Haukea possessed. Each drinking vessel a unique individual, remaining without a match. Tonight, each mug replicated, as was typical, was individualized, attempting to suit the drinker.

Amar, a mug filled with mango juice, would be given an ancient style tin mug, container white with a beautiful pastel purple, pink and green crystal design. As for Madison, personality more fitting, like Amar, towards splashes of color, received a deep forest green mug with gold handle. Lastly, but not least, Haukea provided herself with a cauldron style black mug with constellation design.

By now all three mugs were full of their desired liquids, Haukea balancing them carefully in her hand as she walked back through to the living room, passing off each drink to their respective individual.

Madison, sipping at her drink, slowly, once again juxtaposed Haukea, taking a large swig of her decaffeinated cappuccino.

Marsh: How's your drink? Mine is fantastic, I love drinking various different kinds of tea.

Willow: Cappuccino is lukewarm, but that’s fine by me.

Amar: I really think I prefer fruity things. Mango is soooo good.

Marsh: Response

Willow: ::turning her attention towards dinner:: Speaking of food, Amar you said butter chicken for dinner? Any side dishes?

While, on occasion, it was appropriate to merely consume a single category of food, (Haukea did it often enough during the academy), to have a balanced meal, one had to have access to a variety of meats, vegetables, grains and dairy. Amar, Haukea was proud, was demonstrating positive, if not small, steps towards eating a properly balanced diet.

Amar: uhm.. ::thinking:: what about those kinda fried veggies on a stick?

Marsh: Response

Amar: Yes! Those!

Willow: Butter chicken and vegetables. Excellent choice Amar! I’ll get that started in just a little while.

Marsh: Response

Amar: Sometimes, it's hard to keep track of what is called what, especially when there is so much. And some things are just named weird. There’s even a drink that’s called a warp core breach, but the computer wouldn’t let me try that.

Haukea understood, likewise, in at least some small way, how Amar felt. When, back on Risa, in her early twenties, she was initially applying to participate in the security field, a whole new set of concepts and ideas were introduced to her. Such studies made for several mistakes, if not lessons learned.

Willow: ::emitting her classic bell-like laugh:: I certainly would not try a Warp Core Breach at your age. It’s an adult beverage containing alcohol. It would probably taste rather nasty.

Marsh: Response

Amar: oooooh. Yeah, that makes sense.

Like Alice in Wonderland, which, to be quoted, “I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit-hole—and yet—and yet—it's rather curious, you know, this sort of life! at any rate, there's no harm in trying.” That said, Haukea was pleased at Amar’s abundance of curiosity. Such curiosity provided for a plethora of experiences the child would not have otherwise had within her lifetime.

Willow: I think we’ve talked long enough. You must be starving sweet child. ::Her last comment, jokingly, was directed towards Amar::

Marsh/Amar: Response

Willow: Would either of you like to help set the table while I get the food ready?

Marsh/Amar: Response
