((Starbase 118 Ops - Turbolifts))

Haukea, having received a message, with orders no less, to report to the dungeons for computer upgrades, jumped into action. She didn’t question the order, didn’t ask how high to jump, merely headed for the nearest turbolift without question.

Upon entering the turbolift, shaking leftover glitter out of her braided space buns, Haukea was greeted by a cheerful Klingon.

Korras: Good morning. ::pausing to let the other ensign speak her destination::

Willow: The Dungeons. ::Pausing, allowing the computer to process the information:: Good morning to you as well.

Korras: Ah, I am heading there too. I was told someone from security would be heading there as well.

Willow: Perhaps the message said you would be joining me, however, I didn’t read it fully, so here I am.

She never normally read such messages to the letter, it wasn’t in her nature, besides she got a slight thrill out of the unknown.

Korras: Let us hope there will not be too much trouble.

Willow: One can only hope, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Haukea spoke from direct experience. One didn’t normally call in a security officer when the situation was going smoothly.

((Brief timeskip))

((Starbase 118 Ops - Commercial Sector - The Dungeon - The Playhouse ))

As the pair entered into the Dungeon Playhouse, It was clearly evident by the gathered crowd, centered around a single officer, that an issue had already arisen. Haukea herself was glad her hair had been tied back in this instant, she meant business. Having her hair down allowed for far too much unwanted attraction.

Snezhana: You the help? ::she asked, knowing the answer.::

Korras: ::Nodding:: We are, yes. What is the problem?

Willow: Security officer Willow. ::Haukea dropped her rank in the introduction not wanting to scare others off with the mention of her being an Ensign. Even then her voice was firm, showing she meant business::

Snezhana: Great ::she was a tinge annoyed but clearly not at them. But at Guant and she turned to glare at him.:: Engineering reported that HE refused to allow them access to his systems.

Guant: This is a violation. ::he hissed with to much tung and barely opening his mouth.::

For a Ferengi it would certainly be difficult to turn a prophet if vital, if not personal systems, were compromised. Yet, in equal measure, a prophet could not be made if cooperation and contracts were not maintained. Haukea was already beginning to rack her brain for a valuable Rule of Acquisition to use in her favor.

Korras: ::Frowning:: A violation of what? This stations bylaws allow us to work on Starfleet systems as needed.

Willow: It is clear use of Federation equipment is in play here. If that doesn’t change, it’s by use of such equipment that they have to allow us to perform regular and routine maintenance on it.

It was clear tensions were high, if not climbing, what with the defensive nature of the parties involved as well as Korras’ crossed arms and the tactical officer’s thrown hands. Haukea herself hid an internal laugh, lips in a tight line, a feeble attempt to keep from smiling. The whole situation at hand was certainly amusing. It was petty. She had certainly handled worse before.

Snezhana: I tried to tell them that. Unless they bring a generator and never use our computer or power, they have to give us access to their connecting computers.

If one dislikes what’s presented, an argument ensues.

Gruant: I never agreed to this.

Associate 1: Nor did it ::he spoke nearly overtop the Ferengi.::

Freely willing to let the individuals argue themselves out of breath, Haukea made little response. As a security officer she knew full well a response would merely add fuel to the flames. Yet, Korras, as he typed at a data PADD, appeared to have reasonable justification.

Korras: ::Raising his voice slightly to be heard over the arguments::  Gruant, is it not? ::lowering his voice to a normal level again:: This is your agreement for utilizing this space, with your signature. Subsection 24, paragraph 2, it reads ‘Agreed Person shall allow Starfleet personnel access to Starfleet network and/or computer interfaces as necessary’. You did agree to this. Now, you can take this up with your lawyers. However, I am sure my colleague here ::gesturing to Haukea-Willow:: will let you off with a warning for all the security violations here, instead of closing your establishment, if you cooperate with our engineers.

Willow: Don’t you remember Rule of Acquisition 17? ::The security officer was attempting to appeal to their Ferengi relations:: A contract is a contract is a contract. ::She left out the last part, hoping they wouldn’t notice::

Gruant: Response

Associate 2: What of our work? We don’t want everyone knowing our trade - its not for sale!

Gruant: Can you keep it safe? Are you trying to take information from us?

Starfleet, and particularly its officers, weren’t in the business of stealing the information of others. In order to do system upgrades, sure, they might have to identify the information, yet they would never sell, tell or give it to others. Even then the annoyance of the tactical officer was clear based on the grimace plastered on their face.

Snezhana: Yea… Real fun. ::a bit louder to the others.:: If you’ll just calm down - ::like duh, hush up!::

Korras: We can give you thirty minutes to disconnect and shut down whatever of your systems you have hooked up to our equipment. What you do with that we do not care. ::Glaring at the Ferengi:: Unless you have any illegal activities going on on those.

Willow: To me that sounds perfectly reasonable. I’d hope you agree.

Gruant: Response

Korras: So, what will it be?

Willow: No? Well, do any of you remember Rule of Acquisition 76?...Every once in a while declare peace, it confuses the hell out of your enemies. You might want to try it.

Gruant/Korras/Snezhana: Response

Willow: Or what about Rule of Acquisition 16, a deal is a deal?

Gruant/Korras/Snezhana: Response

Willow: I could keep quoting Rules of Acquisition until I find one that satisfies your tongue if you like?

Every once in a while Haukea, only in the name of being a security officer, could be spicy, sarcastic, letting go of her traditional, natural neutralness.

Gruant/Korras/Snezhana: Response

OOC: It only seemed fitting to include the Rules of Acquisition in my response. I figured as a Starfleet officer posted on a busy space station Haukea would know them.
