Kasun: ::She took a deep breath. :: Well?
Govarek: Orion? You didn’t make it seem that Kovs purchased you…
Aitas: ::calmly:: I paid off my debt; I manage my own contracts now.
Govarek: I see. ::He turned towards Ishani:: and you?
Kasun: My father’s culture puts a great deal of emphasis on music. It was important to him that I learn to sing and play an instrument.
Govarek: You play? Which instrument?
::Aitas stepped back a bit now that the dance was over, watching as Govarek questioned the others.::
O’Conner: I’m not musically inclined ::motioning to Aitas and Kasun:: as my fellow crew members.
Kasun: :: Her jaw shifted side to side in discomfort, her teeth scraping against each other, before answering. :: An erhu alone is not meant to be danced to.
Govarek: My interest in dancing is sated. ::He replied evenly.:: But I would be pleased to hear a song.
Aitas: From whom? And what song would you choose?
Kasun: ?
Rhoansa: If you are in the racing circuit perhaps you know the dirge they played when Mos Albeit died in the 2394 championships. ::She was both serious and canny::
O’Conner: I haven’t been “apart” of the racing circuit for long. I’m aprivate security and I just recently came into the employment of Kovs Shipping and Trading. Usually when we go on these scavenging expeditions I’m joined by two others for security. We didn’t see much for a risk assessment so, I was hired for a solo security job. ::laughs:: security, well looks like this little adventure isn’t going to look good on my performance record.
Aitas: Which dirge? It is tradition to perform three in such a case. ::A raised eyebrow.:: Though I'll admit you didn't strike me as the racing types.
Kasun: ?
Rhoansa: I care little for racing, but we keep abreast of the news in the immediate vicinity.
Genvrek: People cared about his money. ::It was the first time the boy had spoken. He had a soft voice, without the paranoia and coldness of his father and sibling, though he held a tinge of passionate disgust for the bloated celebrity they were discussing.::
O’Conner: Smart boy.
Aitas: You don't see many tears for racers who die in poverty.
O’Conner/Kasun: ?
Govarek: Well isn’t that why you care about your employer? Because of his money? ::He queried, testing for weaknesses::
O’Conner: Not going to lie, it is a big factor and motivator. As I mentioned, I only recently came into the employment of Mr. Kovs. Before that I was in a private security firm. It was good work and good pay. Never asked to anything that questioned a man’s conscious, until my boss sold the company. I left the firm and done an odd jobs here and there until I met up with a recruiter looking to hire for security for Kovs.
O'Conner: It paid well, not too risky. It’s more than a decent wage from a decent company, so I took the job and::sarcastically:: and now here I am. ::raised his writs brandishing the cuffs:: having a jolly with your family on the bridge with provocative Orion dancing.
::Aitas raised an eyebrow at his comments, not letting concern show in her expression. It seemed O'Conner was growing closer and closer to his limit.::
Aitas: Funny, you never complained about my dancing before.
Kasun: ?
Govarek: Come, let us hear the song.
O’Conner: ::sarcastically:: Yes dance and sing my little turtle dove.
Govarek/Kasun: ?
::There was a spike of emotion from O'Conner; perilous and useful. Whatever he was about to do, she'd have to be quick and careful to take advantage..::
O’Conner: ::sarcastically and angrily:: You are a real piece of work Govarek.
Govarek/Kasun: ?
O’Conner: You should have the father of the year award. Bringing prisoners in front of your children and exposing them to tormenting them as they are forced to dance and sing! Don’t get me started on the dancing…..
Aitas: So you're jealous you can't afford me?
::Her voice was cutting. The line between O'Conner as a distraction or a threat that Govarek would remove was all too thin, here. Best to make sure the ensign was viewed as the former.
Still, the guard activated O'Conner's cuffs.::
Govarek/Kasun: ?
O’Conner: Are you going to shoot me?! Then do it! Lets add execution to the list of what your children get to witness, ::sarcastic:: that will help them grow into functional adults
Govarek/Kasun: ?
::Aitas gave a dramatic sigh, shaking her head. O'Conner's distraction might prove useful...but it could also get him killed if it went on too long. She doubted it would be the first death Govarek's children had seen.
After all, she'd killed people when she was younger than them. A child with a disruptor was still a danger.::
Aitas: It seems my...companion is overexcited. Perhaps he could use some time to cool his head.
Govarek/O’Conner/Kasun: ?
