((Sannin VII – Kapitol City Flower Festival))

The atmosphere of Sannin VII, in Kapital City, was blissful. The usual ecosystem, and climate patterns, indicated little seasonal change. To the outside observer it was spring all year long. To Haukea-Willow it was home. A warm climate, not too hot, not too cold, a slight breeze, reflected similar climate and weather patterns to Risia, with its climate simulator. To Haukea it was blissful, claming, an atmosphere she could get lost in, painting, taking photos and napping.

Currently, wearing a spaghetti strap black polka-dot thigh length dress, cropped black leather jacket, thick black vintage platform leather Louis Vuitton boots, and thin wildflower crown, Haukea carried her holo-camera, a vintage model, admiring the landscape. Every so often, pausing, absorbing the warmth of the sun on her skin, Haukea would snap a photo. She was planning to use them as reference for paintings later.

Strolling at a semi-brisk pace around the Federation Embassy Haukea spotted Commodore Sal Taybrim through the lens of her camera. In a moment of delight, Haukea snapped a candid photo of Sal leaning against the side of the building, the sun shining in such a way as to slightly obscure the officer’s face. She would, naturally, not wanting to seem like a peeping Tom, offer to send the photo to the Commodore.

It would seem she would get her chance sooner than later as Taybrim pushed off the wall walking towards her.

Taybrim: Ensign Haukea-Willow. You look chipper this morning!

Haukea, in casual circumstances, opened up to Taybrim. She was desperate, if not lightly so, to engage with the Commander who appeared distant, mysterious, and highly professional. Like all people, she was curious to know the individual better.

Willow: Good morning Commander. You up to anything on this fine day?

Taybrim: No, I don’t have anything planned other than checking out this festival that everyone keeps talking about.

Haukea had briefly heard mention of the Flower Festival. It, in her mind, equated to the Moon festival each year on Risa. The inhabitants of Sannin VII adored the abundance of sweet smelling, soft flowers present in their landscape. The bright colors jutting out against a background of dark leaves. So much so that they hung garlands of it from between buildings, doorways, kiosks. Haukea herself mostly wanted to take pictures of the flowers, hoping to find flora of light oranges, pinks, stunning dark purples, or edged in purple, dark pinks. Similar qualities to her favorite flowers from Earth; The Iceland Poppy and Desert Rose.

Willow: I’ve heard about this festival. Reminds me of the Moon Festival back home.

Taybrim: I was about to head out and explore.  Would you like to join me?

Willow: Certainly. I was planning myself, to take reference photos of the flora with my camera. ::She held up her holo-camera::

Taybrim: Come, let’s see what Kapitol City has to offer!

They walked together at a steady pace. A pace in which both could walk side by side, talk, interact without getting winded or otherwise lost in the growing crowd.

Willow: ::Coming right out with it, voice rapid:: I saw you leaning up against the building there a moment ago. I hope you don’t mind, I took a candid photo. I’d be happy to send it to you. Don’t want to seem creepy or anything.

Clicking through the photos stored on her camera, Haukea leaned over towards Taybrim, showing him the photograph she had taken. Bright sun lighting over Sal’s face, illuminating the orange in his hair as he leaned casually against the building.

Taybrim: Response

Willow: I’m glad. I normally don’t take photographs like this. I usually only take reference photos for my oil painting.

Haukea still spoke in a rapid voice, excitement bleeding into her words.

Taybrim: Response

Willow: I’m glad. Now tell me, do you have a favorite flower?

Taybrim: Response
