OOC: I apologize for the delay in this scene.
((Little Risa - Near Beach - Starbase 118))
Willow: However I believe any style of music will work nicely as the festival is more about gathering together with the community.
Stendhal: I have some doubts about classical Vulcan music. You know, that emotionless screeching of strings and flutes can be quite perplexing.
Sal chuckled at the statement, likely reminiscing about the intricacies of Vulcan music.
As with all styles of music, each had their own unique qualities; timber, tone, tempo etc. Vulcan music merely contained elements of string as well as wind instruments, often from a harp or flute like instrument, that created a fascinating blend of meditative pleasure. Such as was particularly useful for meditative practice, giving way to an often lack of emotional resonance.
Taybrim: I think they will focus on keeping things lively and geared towards the setting. Probably no Vulcan classical, Klingon metal or Denobulan throat singing,
To Haukea, barring Vulcan classical, most Klingon metal or Denobulan throat singing ran at prestissimo, somewhere between 200-208 beats per minute, a rather heart pounding pace, with several instances of dissonant chords which felt crunchy, with a need to be resolved. Classic Vulcan and Risian melodies, on the other hand, held a tempo of andante, landing the musical playing at a comfortable relaxed pace of around 100 beats per minute, leading to several open, resolved chords. Consequently music of the andante variety, able to fade into the background, was more suited to a relaxed, casual environment.
Stendhal: Yeah, I'm sure they won't play that either.
Taybrim: I venture to say whatever they play will be enjoyable.
Traditional Risian ballads, holding a tempo of andante, leveling around 100 beats per minute, used a variety of musical instruments and techniques to create a magical, mystical and romantic atmosphere. A large majority of traditional Risian ballads contained at least one of four elements, voice, drone (a single note held), drum or strings. Utilizing a combination of these elements many a tale was sung of sea voyages, ancient gods, along with the moon.
Willow: I would love for them to play traditional Risian ballads. You both would love such music.
As the three of them walked they drew closer til they were nearly shoulder to shoulder. A great deal of species, including Risians, valued the comfort, pleasure and romantic notion of touch. Even so, in an opposite fashion, several more species thought it unprofessional to touch another individual in such public places.
Stendhal: I truly missed this place.
Willow: Then it is a pleasure to have you back.
Taybrim: I can say with full conviction, Counselor, that we missed you, too.
Willow: If I had known you before, I can say I would have missed you. Yet going forward I will.
Stendhal: Response
Taybrim: ::Smiling, turning towards Willow:: I am thrilled you suggested this on Sannin VII. In fact, I am glad we made this time to spend together. There is something incredibly … affirmative? Life affirming? Wonderful about spending time in such a welcoming place among people you feel a comfortable connection to.
Haukea smiled in a way that hurt her face in all possible ways, not that she wanted to stop. Sal had expressed how she personally identified, yet could not express in words. If appropriate she would have wound her arms around both Stendhal and Sal, never letting go, melting into the touch.
Willow: I couldn’t have said it better.
Stendhal: Response
Taybrim: You know, I was wondering something similar. Who else on the crew do you think would enjoy something like this?
Haukea thought for a moment before a silly notion entered her mind.
Willow: I think Madison Marsh would particularly enjoy such an event. Though that could just be me and my affection towards the woman.
Stendhal: Response
Taybrim: I am always open to suggestions!
Willow: Come, let’s find a good spot by the band. We can talk more there.
Haukea led them further through the crowd as the band began playing.
Stendhal/Taybrim: Response
Willow: The song?
Stendhal/Taybrim: Response
Willow: It is a Risian ballad but not one I am intimately familiar with.
Stendhal/Taybrim: Response
