((Holodeck 1, Deck 463, Administration Section, Starbase 118))
Comms: Captain, we are receiving a distress call from the Kobayashi Maru. ::pausing while listening:: A civilian freighter ::pausing again, a growing look of concern evident on their face:: in the Klingon Neutral Zone.
She had her dark blonde hair tied in a bun and donned the traditional command gold uniform top. Her rank insignia on her sleeves denoted her as Captain rank. Instead of wearing a skirt, she went with black pants and leather boots.
Marsh: What is the status of the freighter?
Comms: The ship has been disabled and heavily damaged ::pause:: and we are the only ship in range.
Madison turned her head in the direction of the helmsman and navigator as she pondered in thought for a moment. This was a difficult scenario to be in for a Federation Starship because you want to preserve lives, but also not start a war with the Klingons that would cost a significantly more amount of lives.
Marsh: Being in the neutral zone certainly complicates the situation. If we enter the neutral zone it would violate our treaty with the Klingon Empire.
Fairhug: What are your orders, *Captain*?
Madison turned her head to look at Lieutenant Commander Fairhug. She spoke in an assertive tone and was clearly invested in finding a solution to the situation.
Marsh: Number One, I need more information that you can help us find. Scan the Kobayashi Maru freighter, I need additional details. What is the actual status of the ship? What is the crew compliment? Compose the vital information on the view screen so that we can work the problem.
Fairhug: Response
Madison’s ocean blue eyes widened when Fairhug told her the population of the freighter. It was a significant amount of lives at stake and could not be ignored. According to the read outs on view screen, the Kobayashi Maru was heavily damaged by a gravitic mine and their life support was failing. She stood up from her chair and paced for a moment before approaching Fairhug.
Marsh: We are pretty far out in deep space. ::Her eyes shifted to the Comms Officer:: Comms, How long would it take for a message to get to Starfleet command to get permission to enter the neutral zone?
Ideally it would be better to enter the neutral zone with approval from command. Considering it was a rescue mission perhaps exceptions could be made in this case between opposing parties. She wanted to exert all of her options.
Comms: Response
Her eyes shifted slightly to make contact with Gogi. A look of concern evident in her expression. She bit her lip a little in anticipation for the response that she wanted to hear. However, it was unlikely that she would get that.
Marsh: And how long can that freighter hold up in its current state?
Fairhug: Response
