((Timeskip - Quo’nos district))
Upon entering the Quo’nos district an audible commotion could be heard. Shouts, accompanied by screams, curses, childrens’ laughter and even various electronic sounds. Overall it was a various mix of sights, sounds and overstimulation, not that anything different was expected. What did surprise Haukea however, was the fact a small robot had run straight into Korras’ foot, prompting him to pick it up and thankfully in time to step aside from a charging Klingon. Eventually, taking the Klingon out of brandishing his weapon, they walked off, keeping Korras with the tiny mocking robot friend.
Over time, as they continued to stand amongst the crowd, a small figure, if not child-like, brushed past Haukea at a rapid spead. In equal fashion she drew the phaser holstered, as a precaution, from her hip, pointing straight ahead. Every one of her muscles tensed, putting her on edge. Yet, no more than a few seconds later did she lower the weapon having spotted the figure a few feet ahead in the crowd. She certainly had an unsettled feeling towards the child’s intentions. Time to go with her gut, trust her training.
Willow moved forward into the crowd, rapidly catching the child’s wrist in a loose hold. After a few moments of the child’s eyes fixated on hers, they weaseled out of her grip.
Kid: Let go of me!
Korras equally moved to position themselves in front of the child, however they, a little girl, managed to weasel around the Klingon as well.
Willow: Get back here! We only want to help!
Kid: Just let me go!
Korras: We need to get her before she runs into one of the other klingons. Right now, they will not be very discriminate.
Haukea, with all her previous training, her time before Starfleet, she knew exactly how to handle children. She had often dealt with younglings that were separated from their guardians, crying out for their mother. Though the current case was certainly a vast leap from the tourist-filled beaches of Risa, Haukea had a strong sense that the young girl was in a vulnerable position, needing to be kept in their care.
Willow: Follow my lead. We don’t want to scare her, but getting a hold of her will be tricky.
Korras: She moves faster than a Targ!
Snezhana: We need to get around.
Willow: Korras you stay back, watch our six. Snezhana, you and I will try and come around her from the side.
Snezhana: Yes ma’am. ::she nodded formally::
Snezhana went to circle wide around the little girl from one side, Willow from the other. Korras as instructed stayed back, willing to trap the child should she double back, hoping to escape. She was certainly a tricky soul, believing wholeheartedly that she could outsmart the trio, moving in delicate patterns like a practiced ballerina. Yet, she wasn’t so lucky.
Willow: ::Shouting back towards Korras:: She’s coming your way!
The little girl had darted behind her and Snezhana, heading straight for Korras who was swift on the grab.
Girl: LET! ::kicking at him:: ME! ::kicking again:: GO! ::kicking::
Korras: ::raising his voice for the other two ensigns:: Got her! ::In a normal voice again, to the girl:: It is not safe to head that way, not now. I would appreciate it if you would stop kicking me.
Whether or not the girl was actually scared of Korras it didn’t matter as she ceased her kicking, deflating in her attempts at escape, finally realizing she wasn’t going to succeed. With the turn of events both Haukea and Snezhana came back to join their Klingon friend.
Korras: What is your name?
If she showed no fear before, she certainly had fear present on her face and in her eyes now, as fat tears ran rivers down her cheeks.
Girl: Amar.
Snezhana: Well, Amar ::her voice kind.:: Are you okay? It’s a bit scary with the lights out.
Amar: Response
Willow: Don’t worry, you’re safe with us.
Korras: Response
Amar: Response
It would have done them best to move out of the Klingon district now that they had found the little girl Amar. Various belching, bellowing sounds, many verbal threats could be heard from a variety of Klingons that took to the streets. It was an unfit location to be standing with a young vulnerable child.
Snezhana: Well we can’t leave her out here alone, and I’m the only one most familiar with the area. ::she held up the PADD with their location.:: So… ::she let the question hang in the air.::
Willow: Amar, sweetheart, can you tell us why you were running?
Korras/Snezhana: Response
Amar: Response
Willow: You were running from monsters?
Korras/Snezhana: Response
Amar: Response
Willow: Did the monsters look like my friend Korras here ::She gestured to the Klingon officer:: Or more like little robots?
Korras/Snezhana: Response
