Cradling her mug Solaris shrugged, bringing the beverage to her lips. Haukea mirrored the action, sipping at her own cup of coffee.
McLaren: Could all be a bunch of lies... we don't know... that's what makes it fun!
Willow: The journey can often be more enjoyable than the planned destination. What will you do if the alcohol is found?
McLaren: If we come back with it... we'll definitely be sharing it with everyone... but other than that no real holiday-type plans. ::She would have loved to spend them with someone special, or her parents but that didn't appear in the cards.:: What about you? Just spending time with Madison and Amar?
Willow: Despite planning a trip with Madison, she’s done most of it. It was her idea after all. Afterwards, the three of us were going to officially move into our new house in Little Risa.
Considering Amar, Madison included, the green clad woman smiled widely. Likewise, it could have been equally applicable to others, she would have found it enjoyable to visit her cousin, her siblings for the holiday season, yet, after forging a strong relationship with both Madison (as her girlfriend) and Amar (her daughter), Haukea found it desirable to spend time in togetherness; more so considering it was their first holiday as a family. Furthermore, due to a recent move, the reestablishment of routines and traditions was imperative.
McLaren: ::Smiling widely:: That's wonderful! Are you all excited?
Willow: I do know Amar is excited. She gets her own bedroom.
McLaren: That must be quite a feeling!
Sol nodded, sipping at her tea. To Haukea it had become clear that while Amar chose to sleep on the couch, the singular bedroom offered as a more reasonable and private consideration, the ability to have an entire space dedicated to herself was a luxury the 12 year old had never experienced before. For Haukea herself the extra space of the house in Little Risa gave way to private intimate space for each of them while including gathering space as a family; bonus points in which the square footage was large enough for their dog as well.
Willow: Otherwise, not much at all. There is always paperwork and medical appointments, which should be done, but I feel I need a mental break from it all.
Despite finding thorough enjoyment in readying the house, Haukea genuinely wanted to spend quality time with both Madison and Amar, if not to avoid the uncomfortably awkward emotion and reactions that had crept up during the last ‘mission’, her harrowing experience of being sequestered in the holodeck. Which, as a Risian, was completely uncharacteristic for her, having a genetic tendency to code out such genes for phobias, mental disorders and typically negative emotions. Lately it had been leeching her of energy, and while one day she would get to the root cause, for now she currently wanted to leave it be.
McLaren: Yes... its always good to have a break from things like that. ::She smiled:: How are you doing in Security, settling in nicely as department head?
Even as Chief of Security, Haukea had hardly any dedicated time to the new position. Working tirelessly in the Crisis Response Department the transition was practically seamless, yet the mountain of PADDs with which to answer, forms to complete, was still, as of this current moment, left unscaled. Haukea planned, in the new year, to dedicate time, energy and organizational prowess to the role as Chief.
Willow: I am settling in nicely. However, missions have yet kept me away for my other duties in the role.
McLaren: ::Nodding:: It can be a bit overwhelming at first. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call!
The offer of assistance from Solaris, who was becoming far more than a crewmember but a friend as well, was admirable. Haukea would have to take her up on said offer one of these days.
Willow: I appreciate the offer. I’lll have to keep that in mind the next time I get into a jam.
McLaren: ::Smiling, nodding:: But knowing you... you'll tackle it with the same grace and determination as you do everything.
Willow: Thank you, I appreciate the sentiment. Now tell me, besides treasure hunting you must be doing something worthwhile for the Holidays. I mean, as crew, I can’t have you spending them on your own now can I.
McLaren: Response
Willow: Well, if you ever find yourself in request of company, call.
McLaren: Response
Willow: I would consider us friends at the very least. It's no trouble.
McLaren: Response
