((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Enterprise NCC-1701))

As the Enterprise made its approach to the coordinates of the Kobayashi Maru, Madison pressed on her arm chair comm button to reachout to the Chief Engineer. She wanted to ensure that all survivors made it back to the Enterprise in one piece, but also get out of dodge immediately afterwards. She did not want to be a sitting duck in the neutral zone for too long.

Marsh: Engineering Chief, lock on to the surviving crew of the Kobayashi Maru and beam them over to the emergency transporter pads. ::She looked over from her chair directly at Gogi:: Number One plot the most optimal course that will ensure that we make a swift return to federation space after acquiring the crew.

Fairhug: Aye, Sir.

But at that exact moment, an alarm sounded from the helm.

Fairhug: Two K’t’inga-class battle cruisers decloaking off our port and starboard bow, Captain!

Her eyes widened slightly, but not in full surprise as she had figured her string of good luck would end eventually. The mission would be far too routine if there was no adversity included in the plot. She maintained her composure and spoke in an assertive tone of voice. Madison actually sounded like she was the Captain of a starship, not a poor fit for an Ensign.

Marsh: Hail the Klingons and inform them that we are on a rescue mission.

Fairhug: No response!

She remained alert and focused on the task at hand. The ship had to raise its defenses and prepare to get the heck out of there. Hopefully they were able to save at least a portion of the survivors of the Kobayashi Maru, but they may not have made it close enough for the transport as everything had happened so fast.

Marsh: Belay the transport order, shields up, full alert! Evasive maneuvers pattern delta.

The red alert alarm was fully engaged as Madison was rocked in her chair from the direct hit of the Klingon torpedo. She could see her Chief Science Officer lying still and being a Doctor she had a strong feeling that he had met his end, Gogi then confirmed by checking their pulse.

Fairhug: ::looking up at Madison:: He’s dead, Captain.

Madison made direct eye contact with Gogi, still maintaining her composure, but added empathy to her tone of voice. Her goal was to keep her living crew focused on continuing to live on. There was nothing they could do for those that passed away except try not to themselves. Her experience with seeing others pass away helped get her through the situation a bit easier than others.

Marsh: This is a terrible loss and they will be honored in time. However, right now we need to focus on the task at hand. ::She pressed on her arm chair comm :: Engineering, what is the damage report?

Chief Engineer: Main energizer is out, Captain.

Fairhug: Response

Their rescue mission had failed as they were now forced to deal with the Klingon ships. They were outmatched, but Madison would not back down. She would try to find her way out of this situation. The goal was obviously to come out alive and spare her own crew.

Marsh: Without energizers, we can not save the rest of the Kobayashi Maru crew. Number One, proceed with attack pattern alpha, fire phasers and torpedoes at will.

Chief Engineer: Shields are at 40% Captain and decreasing.

Fairhug: Response

She grit her teeth slightly in a bit of aggravation that she was failing on all cylinders. What difficulty did Commander Fairhug set this simulation on? Perhaps he overestimated her abilities. It was not like she graduated from command school, guess the chair was more arduous than it looked.

Marsh: Get us out of here helm, we don't stand a chance without weapons and shields dropping. Do your best to get us back into Federation space.

Fairhug: Response
