::As welcomes concluded Sal smiled at the assembled.  This was the part he enjoyed the most – the part where he got to talk up his crew and even embarrass them a little.

He was relaxed, dark eyes sparkling.::

Taybrim: Next I’d like to do some recognitions for those crewmembers who made decisive diplomatic inroads with our Klingon allies or helped to apprehend an informant for necessary intel.  To start I’d like to have Commander Nijil join me.

::There was a method to Sal’s madness on this one – award your first officer first and then your first officer can help pass out other awards!::

Nijil: ?

Taybrim: Lt Commander Nijil, you successfully led a team to the hostile space station Miranda VII to apprehend an informant who was successfully protected and extracted.  You kept your team safe and made sure your passenger stayed alive.  For good leadership and success in your mission, I recognize you with the Captain’s Commendation.

Nijil: ?

Any: ?

Taybrim: Stay up here ::He chuckled:: I could use the help in awarding the rest of the crew.  ::Nijil wasn’t sneaking off that easy.  Pairing the Rekarian’s rather dour personality with Sal’s laid back, cajoling one was a growing source of humor for some of the crew.::

Nijil: ?

::Awesome, now that he had hooked Nijil in he offered the rosewood boxes over so that Nijil could do the actual offering of the awards.::

Taybrim: Next if I could please have Lt Commander Solaris McLaren join me?

McLaren: ?

Taybrim: Commander you successfully completed a delicate intel mission and entered combat to protect the informant as well as your team.  You showed strong leadership skills and bravery in a hostile situation.  To recognize this, I award you with the Good Conduct Ribbon.

McLaren: ?

Nijil/Any: ?

::he smiled and then offered her a sealed box.::

Taybrim: Also, I did remember your recommendation that we talked about.  As a department head and a senior staff member I grant you the authority to bestow this to the crew member you recommended.  ::he smiled at that.  She had pushed for Zel Rohan to finally be promoted past Ensign and the two had worked together extremely well.  He felt it would not only be a good leadership opportunity for Sol to present that, but more meaningful for the both.::

McLaren: ?

Taybrim: Thank you for all your hard work, Sol.  ::he smiled, proud of her and what she had accomplished over the past missions they had worked together.::

McLaren: ?

Any: ?

Taybrim: Next could I please have Lieutenant Bailey join us?

Bailey: ?

Taybrim: Lieutenant, you acted bravely on the away team and worked to protect the life of your fellow crewmember Rebecca Owens after injury.  Your quick thinking and actions in support of your team helped make sure your team and the informant stayed safe.  For this I recognize you with the Good Conduct awards.

Bailey: ?

Nijil/Any: ?

::he smiled gently and gestured for her to stay up there.::

Taybrim: Doctor Foster has also noted you have been developing strong skills as a medical officer and under his recommendation I would like to offer you the opportunity to expand those skills as Assistant Chief Medical officer of StarBase 118 Ops.

::he felt she was ready to try this new challenge.  Certainly Doctor Foster was a good mentor and someone she could lean on if needed, but he wanted to give her the chance to show her skills.::

Bailey: ?

Taybrim: Certainly, Lieutenant.  ::he smiled:: Thank you so much for your hard work.

Bailey: ?

Any: ?

::He looked up, eyes settling upon the next crewmember he would like to call up.::

Taybrim: Lieutenant Blackwell, would you please join me?

Blackwell: ?

Taybrim: ::he smiled gently and fondly at the Comm/Ops officer.:: Lieutenant, you were part of the diplomatic team working with the Klingons and you did a fantastic job helping to decode Syndicate transmissions and give valuable intelligence to our allies.  To recognize this I am presenting you with the Joint Meritorious Unit award!

Blackwell: ?

Nijil/Any: ?

Taybrim: You did well, Lieutenant!  You did a tremendous job working with our Klingon allies!

Blackwell: ?

Any: ?

::He took in a deep breath and gave a side glance towards Nijil figuring that maybe he’d give the Rekarian a break.  After all, he had a totally gregarious second officer to rope into some awards service.::

Taybrim: Commander Galven, if you could please join me?

Galven: ?

Taybrim: Commander, you led an extremely successful team of scientists, engineers and doctors into creating a unique solution to the Death Fog that threatened us as well as our Klingon allies.  To recognize your stellar leadership, I award you with the Captain’s Commendation!

Galven: ?

Nijil/Any: ?

Taybrim: ::He looked between Nijil and Galven:: And since you are second officer and we will be recognizing your team next, perhaps you would like to take over for Commander Nijil in assisting me?

::His dark eyes sparkled and one might think he was teasing Nijil just a little.::

Galven/Nijil: ?

Taybrim: Excellent!  ::he grinned. And then looked to the assembled.:: Ensign casparian would you please join me?

Casparian: ?

Taybrim: Ensign you worked with Galven’s team to help come up with a unique solution to the problem of the silicon platinochloride.  And everyone on the team has noted that your engineering skills are strong and you are capable of coming up with clever and unique ideas.  Ensign I predict you will do great things moving forward and I want to recognize your good work by presenting you with the Medical Science Ribbon.  ::He smiled with full confidence.  She had done extremely well for a freshly graduated Ensign and he was confident that she would continue to excel moving forward.::

Casparian: ?

Galven/Any: ?

Taybrim: Again, wonderful work Ensign – thank you!

Casparian: ?

Any: ?

::Once again after the applause died down Sal’s dark eyes fell upon the next erson on his list.::

Taybrim: Lieutenant Stendhal, will you please join me?

Stendhal: ?

Taybrim: Lieutenant, you were a member of same team that saw such successful progress against the silicon platinochloride.  Your knowledge of medicine was absolutely helpful and you have done a very fine job of being an integral member of each team you work with on StarBase 118.  For your hard work I recognize you with the Medical Science Ribbon!

Stendhal: ?

Galven/Any: ?

Taybrim: And there is one more thing, Lieutenant.  ::he smiled:: I know that you are skilled at medicine, but that counselling is your forte.  And as I announced to start this gathering we are sadly down one counselor.  But I know you have interest in moving back to that role.  I would like to offer you the position of counselor on StarBase 118 Ops. :

::Counselor was Sal’s first role in Starfleet and one that was near and dear to his heart,  he knew Karen Stendhal would be a fantastic counselor.::

Stendhal: ?

Taybrim: I’m so glad to hear that, Lieutenant!  I know you will be brilliant!

Stendhal: ?

Any: ?

::Sal took in one last slow breath and his eyes fell upon the last – but certainly not the least person on his list.::

Taybrim: And finally, Mister Taelon, would you please join me?

Taelon: ?

Taybrim: Taelon, your keen mind was the driving force behind the robots that can scrub the toxic silicon platinochloride out of the atmosphere.  Your solution was elegant and quite honestly brilliant.  Now generally we do not award civilians Starfleet awards.  ::His dark eyes sparkled.:: Fortunately I was able to have Admiral Hauke expedite some paperwork.  ::He took out an actual document on thick fabric paper that was rolled up in a ceremonial scroll case:: Taelon, I am hearby able to reinstate your commission as a Starfleet officer in good standing at the rank of Ensign in the science department of StarBase 118.

::He personally offered the scroll case towards Taelon.  He would let Galven offer the rosewood box containing that first shiny pip.::

Taelon: ?

Galven/Any: ?

Taybrim: And now, seeing you are a Starfleet officer I want to formally recognize your excellent work with the Innovation Ribbon.  The robotics you designed will save lives, Ensign.

Taelon: ?

Galven/Any: ?

::He stepped forward and took Taelon’s hands.::

Taybrim: ::quietly:: I’m proud of you.  And I believe in you.

Taelon: ?

Any: ?

::he stepped back and addressed the crew as a whole.::

Taybrim: Once again I want to thank you all and I look forward to working with everyone moving forward.  Please take this evening to enjoy yourselves and relax!  We will be convening not tomorrow morning but the morning after for a mission briefing moving forward.

Any: ?

::he picked up a glass and lifted it.::

Taybrim: A toast!  To you!  The brightest and strongest crew in the Trinity Sector!  You could not make me more proud!  Congratulations!

Any: ?
