With the introductions of the new crew complete, Ryden felt the energy in the room shift. Now came the moment to look back—not just at arrivals, but at the actions that had brought the Narendra home from its first outing since Frontier Day.

Gogi Fairhug lifted his glass of champagne, took a measured sip, and set it down again before addressing the crowd. Ryden always admired how easily the Bardeezan could command attention without needing to raise his voice.

Fairhug: Now, as always, it is my pleasure to recognise the bravery and ability of the crew I am so privileged to serve with. First of all, Commander Foster, Lieutenant Wethern and Ensign Kel. For your actions in facing the Romulans and thereby helping to save crew members and refugees alike, you are all awarded the Gold Lifesaving Ribbon.

Kel: Thank you, sir. I only did what any one of us would have done in the same situation. I’m grateful to have stood alongside such capable officers—without them, I wouldn’t even be here to accept this.

Foster/Wethern: Responses

Ryden clapped firmly, knowing how much weight such words carried. The Gold Lifesaving Ribbon wasn’t given lightly—it meant people had survived because of decisive choices, because of courage under fire.

Fairhug: Your efforts in the face of such danger were commendable and Ensign Kel, for sustaining injuries in the line of duty, you are also awarded the Purple Heart.

Kel: I… thank you.. And I promise, next time, I’ll try to make it through without giving sickbay quite so much work.

Any: Response

Injuries in the line of duty came with the territory, but being recognized for it reminded everyone just how high the stakes had been.

With a nod and a smile, Gogi turned toward Marsh and Ross. Ryden knew what was coming next; he remembered the story, the tension when their fates had hung in the balance.

Fairhug: Lieutenants Marsh and Ross. Your extraordinarily heroic efforts in staying behind on the shuttles while the Narendra sped off to rescue the crew of the Valiant, ensured that the crew of the Borealis were also able to make it out alive. For this, you are both awarded the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon.

Marsh/Ross: Responses

Ryden joined the applause, a flicker of awe running through him. Staying behind like that... knowing the risks...t wasn’t just bravery. It was sacrifice.

Fairhug: ::with a slight grin:: But don't ever scare us like that again, the way you did with the pattern buffers.

Marsh/Ross: Responses

Laughter rippled through the crowd, Ryden’s included, easing the tension of the memory. Still, he knew there had been nothing funny about it in the moment.

Gogi’s eyes swept onward, landing on two officers whose trials since Frontier Day had been anything but easy. Ryden felt the same hope Gogi must have—that fortune would give them a reprieve sooner rather than later.

Fairhug: Commander McLaren, Lieutenant Willow, for your steadfast action in facing off against Commander Metet, you are both awarded the Silver Star.

McLaren/Willow: Responses

Ryden felt a pulse of admiration. The Silver Star was no small recognition—it meant valor, clear and undeniable. McLaren and Willow had stood between danger and the crew, and here they were, still standing.

Fairhug: Your actions protected the crew of the Narendra. Something you have both been doing for a long time now. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how truly grateful we all are for that.

McLaren/Willow: Responses

The applause swelled again, heartfelt. Ryden clapped until his palms stung, grateful for leaders who had time and again shouldered burdens most couldn’t imagine.

Then came a newer face—someone Ryden had already noted as sharp, precise, and hard to miss in any crowd.

Fairhug: Ensign S'zurak. For your innovative work on the Bridge, in particular the way you collaborated with Lieutenants Tito and Kreshkova, you are awarded the Spliced Mainbrace Distinction.

S'zurak: Response

Ryden studied the Vulcan, impressed by the poise he had shown on his very first mission. To innovate under fire wasn’t something everyone could manage, but S’zurak had.

Fairhug: I know your first mission was very much a case of being thrown in at the deep end, but you conducted yourself with great professionalism under incredibly difficult conditions. Well done, Ensign.

S'zurak: Response

Any: Response

The list went on... more names, more honors to be passed on through the proper channels. Ryden felt pride warming through him as he looked around. These weren’t just crewmates; they were people who had proven, time and again, that they had the strength and resolve to rise above impossible circumstances.

And as the applause rose once more, he knew the congratulations tonight would not be ending any time soon.
