((Temporary Quarters of Sera, USS Narendra))
Sherlock: ::slowly a grin crept across her face:: Perfect. I do really appreciate this. Anything you need, anything, you just let me know.
After she had just
warned Lieutenant Sherlock about making promises, the human goes ahead and promises
anything.
ANYTHING.
Sera: Anything, Lieutenant Sherlock? Very well. Your terms are satisfactory. I accept.
She walked over to her bed and quickly removed her meditation robe and laid it carefully on the flat surface. The sentimentality regarding this particular garment was illogical, but Sera did not care. It was important to her, and thus she treated it appropriately. Grabbing her duty jacket, Sera slipped it on and zipped it up and then grabbed her boots.
There was no time like the present to get started.
She had yet to be assigned a shift schedule, so this would be a most satisfying project to occupy her time in the meanwhile.
Sherlock: Umm...how long do you think it will take?
Sera halted her inner musings immediately at Sherlock’s question.
The exact numbers lined up to be uttered, but she stopped herself.
Most non-Vulcans did not appreciate such a degree of precision.
It was unfortunate, really.
Vague answers invited chaos.
Sera: …not too long.
oO There. That should be an acceptable answer. Oo
Sherlock: Can we do it now? Can I watch?
Sera’s brows crept up slightly at what she identified as…anticipation in Sherlock’s dual questions.
Sera: ::answering the questions as they were received.
Yes. And it was my intent to obtain the necessary components now.
You may watch if you wish…however, I have never had anyone inquire to observe my work…it is an…unusual request.
::switching gears::
Please bring the phaser.
My tools have not arrived from Denali; we will have to find suitable tools within main engineering.
Sherlock: I can write the dispensation as we walk.
Sera: :tilting her head slightly in a Vulcan version of a nod: Imminently logical, Lieutenant.
They both exited Sera’s toasty warm quarters and she forced herself to suppress a shiver as the chilled
air, in her estimation, rushed over her form.
Starfleet said they kept environmental controls at an average range that was acceptable to most species.
Sera would like to meet with that environmental engineer one day and what was it?
Oh yes, give them a piece of her brain.
Sera started walking down the corridor with Sherlock walking beside her. She realized what she was doing and slowed her pace, knowing that the other officer could and most probably would keep up with her ground-eating stride…but that would not be considerate.
While Sherlock was tapping on her PADD—creating a mea culpa in case this little adventure went sideways—Sera pulled out a small PADD from her uniform jacket and pulled up the Narendra’s maintenance request forms. Scrolling through the rather substantial list, Sera stopped and accepted one of the requests.
Sherlock: response
Sera: ::looking down at Sherlock with either a blank expression or a subtle satisfied smirk – it was open for interpretation:: I have accepted a maintenance request for the main armory. Apparently, it has been discovered that there were an unspecified number of faulty power cells sent over in the last armament requisition, and these faulty cells caused a number of phasers to malfunction. They have been removed from service and need to be recalibrated and returned to the armory for redistribution.
Sherlock: response
Sera: It will be most unfortunate that one phaser will be rendered completely non-functional due to the faulty power cells and will be sufficiently documented as destroyed.
Sherlock: response
Sera: Well, yes. It could be seen as marginally perfidious. ::deflecting:: Have you completed the dispensation paperwork, Lieutenant Sherlock?
Sherlock: response
Sera: Lieutenant Sherlock, I am an engineer. I have the capabilities of acquiring just about anything on this vessel, given the appropriate motivation…In case you wish to owe me more favors…
Sherlock: response
