Lt Haukea-Willow: Variables.

OOC: Given the pace of sims I am skipping the new ship announcement and responding to my tags here from Ross, S’zurak and Box. Hopefully I understood the scene progression correctly and that it is understandable; that’s what I get for writing tired. Likewise all opinions are that of Haukea and do not reflect onto the author or their views of characters or players.
((Corridor outside Security Offices, Deck 2, USS Aurora-A))
Haukea-Willow was certainly not a ship class nerd, she could hardly care less the name or sub-class of vessel she was posted to. Nevertheless, in all her time serving with the crew and under the location of Starbase 118 Operations, the Aurora-A, a Rhode Island class, was her initial launch vessel, one both new to her and the quadrant, whereas the Narrendra had been taken out for her maiden voyage years prior to her arrival on the base.
Today the agenda, specified by Ross, dictated she convene with several crew members, Ross, S’zurak, and a new officer McRoberts in the corridor near the security offices, which being the Chief of Security, was merely a stone's throw from her current position.
McRoberts was the last officer of the quartet to arrive.
Ross: Welcome! I hope you recovered from yesterday's party?
S’zurak: ::S’zurak tilted the glass in his hand:: A ssspiced tomato juice really rejuvenatesss the body. I highly recommend it.
McRoberts: ::he nodded:: I'll give it a try.
Willow: I’ll stick to my mocha thank you.
Ross: Excellent. ::he pulled out a PADD displaying the ship's layout:: I called you in for a little bit of exploration today. Let's try to get a general idea of this ship's layout and any critical locations we should consider for tactical reasons. I'm sure you noticed Deck 2 is pretty crowded. I guess it's no coincidence Security Offices are located here.
S’zurak: Aye, Sssir. For a sssmall ship, I expected to feel cramped. However… it is not so bad.
McRoberts: Well, there's the weapons and shield systems, I guess we could start there. I gave the layout a look and I'd say most systems seem to be adequetly defended, but we should still give them further inspection.
For a Rhode Island class The Aurora was hardly picturesque, however Haukea found herself with a middling opinion regarding the exact strengths and weaknesses of the vehicle. For herself such positives and contra were underdeveloped, being explored through practical experience.
Willow: I for one find it dependent on the exact nature, or goals, of the perpetrator. Various critical systems are vulnerable to varied attacks, methods, and entry scenarios.
Ross: I was thinking of a bit of role-playing here. Imagine you're an invader. Which point of entry would you choose and what would be the most straightforward way to hit us where it hurts? 3, 2, 1. ...best Romulan wins.
S’zurak: We are not Romulan… ::looking to Box:: Are we?
McRoberts: Adopting their mindset is what I think Lt. Commander Ross means.
Having recently participated in a medieval fantasy role play within the holodeck Haukea was versatile in suspending her disbelief, nevertheless, she found Ross’s concept of a practical simulation a touch arbitrary, unpredictable and containing excessive variables, that is was considered unscientific.
Willow: Once again, given an exponential amount of goal potential, a scenario such as this is incredibly difficult to judge. One target may find a weakness in say in accessing computerized systems due to outdated technology usage or find computerized systems redundant as they remain outside the scope of their action. It's hard to say what may impede an individual in such a vague situation.
S’zurak: ::looking at Ross:: Are the shields up? Did they transssport aboard? ::pointing to his PADD with the ship layout on display:: Deck 2 hostsss the main transporter room as well as the brig.
Willow: See? Extreme variables.
Ross: Response
McRoberts: Sounds like a plan, Lt. Commander.
S’zurak: Shuttle baysss are on deck four. As are the Junior Officers' Quarters. ::looking to McRoberts:: That’sss us. I’ll protect you. ::The Gorn grinned::
McRoberts: I suppose we should get going then.
Willow: If you insist, I can believe it provides an opportunity to discuss these hypothetical situations.
Ross: Response
It was at that particular moment that Box McRoberts and S’zurak, a 7’1” Gorn, exited, heading towards the turbolift, leaving Haukea-Willow, feeling somewhat bewildered, with Ross.
Nevertheless, through the continued length of time Haukea gave towards understanding the given hypothetical, the further she had in creating or finding useful places to at least gauge, and monitor the situation.
Turning back to the security offices, the chief officer motioned for Ross to follow her towards the computer bay where a bank of monitors were set.
Willow: While the given scenario may contain too wide of variables, the security offices do contain an array of monitoring equipment which can alert to the location of unauthorized personnel.
Ross: Response
Typing in her master access code, Haukea gestured towards the security detail.
Willow: True, it only works best if we have someone posted to monitor and be present for any changes. Hillary Anderson-Andrews is our most qualified officer in cyber security.
Ross: Response
Willow: However, I highly doubt that’s entirely what you meant for your scenario.
Ross: Response
Willow: I can’t say for certain. Having too many variables and a realistic situation is throwing me off. I know too little to be able to properly predict what I would do. I’m much better at role playing in a fantasy world.
Haukea provided blunt honesty to the present reality before them.
