((Briefing Room, USS Narendra))

Haukea-Willow, as was common, had drifted off into daydreaming once her hyperness had worn off and professionalism had taken over, only coming around once the information immediately concerned her. Now realizing that the briefing was officially over, Haukea stood from her seat, getting ready to converse with Sherlock. Yet, Sherlock turned towards her, leading her over towards Taybrim who had gestured over to them.

Taybrim: Lieutenant Sherlock, Ensign Willow, before you head to Sannin VII, would you like to accompany me on the bridge and meet one of our newest crew members?

Haukea found it absolutely thrilling to introduce herself to new individuals. Each person had their own unique story and experiences which she found fascinating to get to know. Even Taybrim and Sherlock seemed to agree, what with their enthusiastic smiles and head nodding.

Sherlock: Absolutely I would!

Willow: It would be my pleasure.

Taybrim: With any luck, straightaway. I’m headed to the bridge now, if you care to join?

Willow: I’ve got nothing else other than planning.

Sherlock: Getting new Ensigns is like Christmas morning.

The reference to Christmas was strange. While Haukea had heard of the holiday from her time during the academy, she still didn’t quite understand the meaning behind it. She guessed it was similar to the Moon Festival on Risa, a time to celebrate. Nevertheless, the reference did little in the way of enhancing their understanding of the task at hand, greeting new Ensigns. As such, the three of them merely made their way towards the turbolift and the bridge.

((Bridge – USS Narendra))

Stepping onto the bridge was like stepping into a world of well ordered chaos. The bridge was busy and Haukea thought it must have been a normal occurrence, since it was her first time in such an environment. She couldn’t even tell which station was which other than the helm at the front; the most logical place for it to be.

Soon after arriving, among all the chaos, a tall, blue, Andorian officer greeted them.

Dal: Greetings Commodore, Lieutenant, Ensign.  May I introduce you to Doctor Corey Wethern, one of the newly assigned officers to StarBase 118? Doctor Wethern, may I introduce Commodore Sal Taybrim, Lieutenant Aine Sherlock and Ensign Haukea-Willow.

The Andorian gestured to each officer as he spoke, giving the new Ensign a chance to put names to faces. Haukea herself smiled, giving a controlled wave when her own name was mentioned. She wanted to make the new officer, Doctor Wethern, who appeared human, feel welcome.

Taybrim: It is wonderful to be able to meet you, Doctor Wethern!

Wethern: Sirs, it is a great pleasure to meet you all. I am looking forward immensely to working with you all. I will do my upmost to not let you down.

Sherlock: Welcome aboard, Doctor.

Willow: We are so glad to have you.

Taybrim: I wanted make sure that I was able to touch base with you when you arrived, before we headed down to Sannin VII.  And, of course, give an official welcome.

Wethern: Thank you Sir, Commander Dal has been very informative in filling in some of the gaps in regards to what is not in the Starfleet written briefings.

Willow: We love a good welcome around here. Again, glad to have you.

Sherlock: It's good timing you joined us when you did.

Wethern: I was reflecting with the Commander this is very reminiscent of Earth history with a substance called Asbestos. I am keen to get started as soon as possible, even if that is just keeping the ships sickbay going whilst my colleagues are on the surface. However, it is an intriguing aspect that the chemical only targets Bajoran-Cardassian hybrids and the only thing I like more than a good puzzle is a good single malt Earth scotch.

Sherlock: A medical mystery. We need all the doctors we can get.

Willow: We need people, period.

Wethern: Happy to help in whatever guise I can, just point me in the right direction. ::Wethern smiled:: No please literally I still haven't figured out my way around the ship as of yet.

Taybrim/Sherlock: Response

It was at that moment that three new officers entered the bridge from the turbolift. One of them was Risian, wearing a blue collar, while another had pale grey-green skin and pointy ears, some sort of hybrid, wearing a red collar. The final individual was a Romulan female wearing a green collar. Haukea had never been introduced to any of them before. Either they were brand new or simply hidden away on the Starbase, what with how big it is.

It was the Romulan female that introduced the other two officers before disappearing herself along with the Andorian.

Merek: Commodore, Lieutenant, Ensign. ::She gestured to her charges:: Ensigns Arake, and Ksivi-Sava.

Willow: Arake and Ksivi-Sava. I don’t think I’ll ever get those names straight. But welcome aboard.

Taybrim/Wethern/Sherlock: Response

Merek: Ensigns this is Commodore Taybrim, Lieutenant Sherlock, our Chief of Security and Tactical and Ensign Willow, one of our security officers. You'll be in good hands.

Arake: Greetings. I am Ensign Sojtis Arake. I am a Science Officer specializing in sociology, anthropology, and archaeology. I believe my areas of expertise should at least be somewhat relevant to this mission, given this situation's similarities to other times where building materials were found out to be dangerous. I also want to know what material we are dealing with here.

It was sad to say that Haukea was completely lost in Arake’s words. She had no idea what they were even talking about. Sure, it might have been mentioned in the briefing but it all sounded so medical that it was likely she tuned it out, not being a doctor herself. However now was her chance to figure out what she actually needed to know and commit it to memory.

Willow: There will be plenty of time to figure that out, don’t worry. It usually takes a while before the action hits.

Ksivi-Sava/Arake/Wethern: Response

Taybrim/Sherlock: Response

Willow: Again welcome aboard. We are so glad to have you.

Ksivi-Sava/Arake/Wethern: Response

Taybrim/Sherlock: Response

Willow: Is there questions I could perhaps answer, or could Chef Sherlock provide a tour of the bridge? I mean, that is if we have time for that. Otherwise…we should be getting to it right?

Ksivi-Sava/Arake/Wethern: Response
