((Beachfront, Raskor II))

Commodore Taybrim had just walked towards the stage, and without announcement, he commanded attention from the entire crew. S’zurak took a seat in the back as usual. One too many times people had pestered him about not being able to see over him. He’d learned just to avoid that confrontation altogether by sitting in the back at events.

Taybrim: Gathered friends, faces new and old. I want to welcome you all to Raskor II, and to this celebration of your accomplishments. ::he placed a hand on his chest:: I am humbled and thrilled to be able to share this time with you. However, to start I do want to let you know that Captain Fairhug did arrive on Bardeez safe and sound, and the Bardeezan doctors were able to apply the memory recovery that our medical staff pioneered. He hopes to return soon, once he is fully recovered. He shares his well wishes and pride at your accomplishments. I promise I will pass on any communications I receive from him. ::The Commodore paused and continued:: But let me turn towards those present. I want to start by welcoming back Lieutenant Haukea-Willow, our Chief of Security, and Lieutenant S’zurak, our tactical officer.  You both missed quite the interesting mission, and we’re very glad you are back!

A sobering thought. It only took S’zurak one month to recover and become fit for duty again after losing his memory. Gogi was still missing action. Thankfully his memories had recovered, but he knew all too well that the recovery and therapy process after regaining those memories can be straining.

On the other hand, the crew was now celebrating the return of their Chief of Security, Willow, as well as their Tactical officer, himself. Though he might not outright say it, S’zurak was pleased to see the familiar presence within Security back in action. Security would not be the same without her.

S’zurak stood and raised a clawed hand.

S’zurak: Thank you all. I would not rather be anywhere elssse. ::Turning to Haukea:: And it is very good to have you back with us.

Willow: ?

Foster: Welcome back, both of you!

Taybrim: Now, onto official welcome, starting with Ensign Alok Munshi, you joined the crew of StarBase 118 during the New Year’s awards ceremonies and while it is quite overdue, I could not let you get away without an official welcome!

Munshi: ?

Taybrim: I am thrilled that you are here to join us again, and I’m glad you were able to help the crew out on the last mission.

Munshi: ?

Ross: Welcome to the show!

Foster: Welcome, Enisgn!

Taybrim: And StarBase 118 has been particularly fortunate with our incoming Engineers, for not only do we have Ensign Munshi, but we also officially welcome Ensign A’Mayri!

A’Mayri: ::respectful bow of her head:: Thank you sir, and to all the crew. It is an honor and privilege.

Taybrim: I could not have asked for a better graduating class to join our ranks!

A’Mayri: My fellow graduate and I are eager to provide support.

Taybrim: And in saying that, let me officially welcome your fellow graduate Ysatch Tori, our new Communications and Operations officer!

Ysatch: :: smiling his most normal smile :: Thank you sir, very excited to join the crew.

Taybrim: I am very excited to have you both with us on Ops and I know you will both be fantastic additions to the crew for our upcoming missions.

Ysatch: For anyone I haven't had the chance to meet yet, let's chat soon! Tonight! Not now, after this! I'm going to stop talking now.

Yes, S’zurak had been out for a bit, and hadn’t the chance to meet or get to know the newer ensigns. He made mental notes to at least make their acquaintances soon.

Foster: Welcomes to the both of you!

Taybrim: And now let me propose a toast, to the crew of StarBase 118 Ops. To the seasoned officers who guide with experience and wisdom, to old friends who we have shared many adventures with together.  To the experienced officers who lead though passion and energy, who are growing and learning and become a bridge between old and new. To friends who we are growing close to. And to our newest officers, bring new ideas, new skills and bright new futures to the team. New friends who fill us with excitement and energy. To all of you.  Thank you for sharing this evening.

Ysatch: Here here!

Sylvax: To all of you.

Voss: To 118!

Ross: Cheers, guys.

McLaren: Welcome all!

A’Mayri: To future endeavors.

Foster: Cheers to an amazing crew!

S’zurak: To the hunt ahead. Together.

Any: ?

The mob settled down only for awards to begin handed out that would inevitably rile them up again. Taybrim called each recipient up one by one: Ross, then Sylvax. S’zurak wanted to show extra appreciation to Ryden Sylvax. Part of that mission was bringing in a violent Gorn safely into medbay. He did exceptionally well.

The rest of the recipients arose and received theirs as well: Munshi, McLaren, Voss, sh’Sonora, and Foster. S’zurak cheered for all and was proud of his crew on 118.

Taybrim: If any of you ever doubted that you belonged in Starfleet or that you have earned the accolades you receive, wipe that doubt from your mind. Under the greatest duress you all achieved what others in the galaxy could only dream of.

Voss: Hey now. I don’t think I want any more things wiped from my mind, even if they’re doubts.

Wyn echoed Evan’s chuckle.

Foster: I agree, I worked too hard for these memories and experiences to lose them again!

sh’Sonora: ?

Ross: Well done, great work!

S’zurak: Congratulations!

Any: ?

Taybrim: Ensign Voss, after researching what had happened, you ventured into the civilian sector with Lieutenant Drex and Doctor Wethern to locate the source of the memory loss. You focused your fellow crew, you helped create a containment field, that rendered the artifact inert and that allowed our medical teams to enact the reversal procedure. All of this while you were struggling against the effects of the very thing you worked to contain. For this I recognize your excellent efforts with the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon.

Voss: That’s very… ::ahh, very what? no, abort:: Thank you.

Ross: ::quietly:: I gotta watch you, sounds like you're taking my job!

Foster: Excellent work, Ensign!

Any: ?

Taybrim: Ensign sh’Sonora, you had some close encounters. But you also were an integral help in getting the Beau Soleil back on course and helping your team control the weather patterns in the civilian sector. Your skill at piloting was critical, and it is even more impressive how much your retained of that skill with the memory loss. For your extraordinary focus in your chosen discipline, I want to recognize you with the Spliced Mainbrace Distinction.

sh’Sonora: ?

Voss: Nice work, Mi’sh!

Foster: Your skills shine even though hardship ensign!

S’zurak: Congratulations to you too!

Any: ?

Taybrim: And Commander Foster, despite memory loss, you remain one of the most dedicated and experienced doctors in the Trinity sector. Your willingness to be the test subject combined with your sharp medical observations helped Dr. Sylvax develop the best and safest way to reverse the memory loss. For this I want to recognize your work with the Innovation Ribbon.

He did his level best to not flush navy.

Foster: Thank you, Commodore.

Any: ?

Taybrim took a deep breath and let the moment settle.

Taybrim: I think that just about covers things. ::His dark eyes sparkled once again:: Well, almost.  But before we get to the final stage, let me take a moment to once again congratulate this crew. You have proven that even when things are difficult you will work together, protect the people under our care and ensure a positive outcome.

S’zurak cheered, and returned to his seat, on the edge of the seat now. He was trying to follow Taybrim’s gaze to see who he was looking at. It would be likely he’d call them up for promotion. This was his favorite part of awards.
