Madison had received a mysterious communication in her inbox that morning. She could not put a finger on who sent the communication, but she had her own ideas of who it could potentially be. Could it have been Corey? Lieutenant Tito? Commander Fairhug? There were several options and she decided to accept the mission. It was not in her nature to decline such an intriguing mission opportunity.

Taybrim: Ah, Lieutenant. I’m glad you accepted!

Well how about that? It was Commodore Taybrim, her first Commanding Officer straight out of the academy. He had hand picked her to be assigned on Starbase 118 Operations and the USS Narendra. In addition, the Commodore had sponsored her application to Starfleet. Madison made an effort to ensure that she had solid recommendations from her high school, but decided to put the icing on the cake with a Starfleet Commodore’s recommendation. She stepped forward and greeted him with a warm hug. That felt nice considering the temperatures in the simulation made it a bit nippy.

Marsh: Commodore Taybrim, it’s good to see you sir. ::She pulled away from the brief hug:: What’s the occasion?

Taybrim: Oh, I’m here to take some leave. I love diplomacy, but it gets droll after a while, and I need to move around. I hear your last mission was challenging.

His reasoning was sound and she could identify with that. The Commodore had a high profile role in a demanding assignment. Everyone needed a shore leave here and there to reset. It was both a mental and physical opportunity to recharge. Her last mission was both arduous and unforgettable after she missed being sucked into a black hole by a hair.

Marsh: Challenging to say the least, there was a lot at stake, but fortunately the crew came out on top.

Taybrim: Of course I want to hear all about it!  The reports leave out all the important details. ::he approached her and smiled.:: Like the all-important question of how are you doing?  Are you holding up?

How was she doing? Madison was doing swell when she wasn’t trapped in a transporter buffer, being attacked by the holo-demon Lemoncable, and temporarily not having to wake up at 06:00 for her duty shifts. In a nutshell, she was a proud member of Starfleet that truly required a little rest and relaxation.

Marsh: I’m doing well now that I’m on shore leave and get to see you! What kind of mission did you have in mind? ::She grinned:: Clearly I accepted your challenge sir.

Taybrim: Well, if you’re up for a challenge I have been meaning to try the skydiving. ::Taybrim always had a love for extreme sports.:: Though if the last mission was stressful and you wanted something a little less intense there’s Andorian kol’kaatan which is like tobogganing I think.

While she personally would have opted for the Andorian tobogganing, the Commodore seemed to want to try something new. On top of that, he outranked her by several levels, so there is this almost unavoidable reaction to lean towards what the superior wants to do. Not if it was unethical of course, but she wanted to align with him here. She appeared to ponder in thought for a moment.

Marsh: Um, let’s go do skydiving! However, it’s going to be hard to catch up much in free fall if you know what I mean.

Taybrim: Then at the bottom of the mountain there’s a chalet where we can chat.

Madison crossed her arms casually and relaxed her posture. It was going to be an experience that both of them would remember. Skydiving is a rush that gets one’s adrenaline pumping. They were about to be wired. She gestured with an outstretched arm to Taybrim.

Marsh: Lead the way sir.

Taybrim: ?

Her boots crunched in the snow as they began their short journey to the skydiving area. She nudged his shoulder playfully and smiled.

Marsh: So ::short pause:: How long in total did you serve here on 118?

Taybrim: ?

Being an extrovert she wanted to fill their walk with social interaction. Madison was a conversational energy sucking vampire as she did not enjoy being alone and didn’t want to be cooped up. Madison’s eyes widened in surprise at his answer which provoked a follow up question.

Marsh: That’s a long time! Have you seen everything on 118 by now?

Taybrim: ?
