((Valley of Fire Park, Nevada, Earth))
In spite of the pair being familiar for over a year, they had only a small collection of holo-photographs of either. Haukea observed herself to be responsible, having a hobby in holo-photography. Yet, with recent missions, Amar, Madison, other more stimulating obligations intervened. Nevertheless, with a chance of usefulness, Haukea brought her personal olive green holo-camera with her.
Willow: Why don’t you set your backpack to one side? That way it’s out of the way for the photo.
Marsh: I see your point.
Willow: One moment, just making sure the pack is out of frame.
Extending her hand in preparation, Haukea pressed into Madison’s side, ready to produce the surprise; Holo-photographs developed in crisp definition compared to a regular PADD. Quietly pulling the camera from their pack, Haukea lowered Madison’s arm, gesturing to the camera.
Marsh: Aside from your extended reach, what makes your holo-camera better than my PADD at photos?
Willow: You seem to have forgotten dear, photos appear much clearer with a holo-camera. Besides, I have the longer arms. Shall I?
Gesturing to the olive green camera, Madison smiled, angling her head in order to make contact with Haukea’s own for the photo. Haukea herself, smiling wide, had the inclination the image was going to be of special magnificence, framed and hung on the wall.
Marsh: Say cheese!
Willow: Cheese?
While the Risian was familiar with several Human customs, such as shaking hands, the act of saying cheese to the camera was certainly not one of them. Madison, intimate with the custom, able to explain as she stepped out of the frame, eyes peering upwards to meet Haukea’s own.
Marsh: Saying cheese prior to a photo is an old Earth custom is all. I may be Centauran, but I might as well be an expert on humanity as well like my mother. I spent enough time on Earth to learn a ton, that's for sure.
Willow: I see, makes sense. I’d love to learn more.
Madison grinned at the taller Risian woman. Haukea herself merely pondered further. The pair had been familiar, dating as girlfriends, for over a year, yet, having recently committed to living together, their relationship continued steadily onwards. Likewise, with Amar in their lives, a child of twelve, a significant commitment was to be made. For Haukea that brought forward the prospect of marriage, a significant event she wanted, yet could not commit to the timing. Though perhaps for now a mere promise could be held for the time.
Marsh: You know, with our new lovely home in Little Risa, I would like to visit actual Risa. I want to learn more about your race and customs since we've been a couple long enough and I don't see that ever changing.
All the time spent pondering, which wasn't long, Haukea had created and produced a shiny, delicate opalescent Risian pearl ring, left securely in the back of a drawer until now; the ring lay, without a box, in the pocket of her black puff vest. Fidgeting with the delicate object, Haukea spoke, Madison having announced her own commitment.
Willow: Madison, I adore you and the way you want to love and learn about me and Amar. With that I have been considering for some time giving you this.
Haukea produced the ring from her pocket, holding out to the other woman. She was certainly not down on one knee, the act a promise rather than proposal.
Marsh: Response
Willow: I researched an old earth custom. Promise rings. I want to marry you. However the timing has never felt right. That said, with this ring, I, we, can commit to a long, stable relationship.
Marsh: Response
Willow: If you don’t like it we can pick out a different one.
Marsh: Response
