(2 Days after the Narendra’s return, a several hours before Ishani’s meeting with Sal)

It was near midnight when the yacht came out of warp, the Station’s lights reflecting across its polished surface. Long, graceful, and beautifully designed, the luxury ship came towards the stardock slowly, engines cooling.

The berth assigned to it was a fair distance from the major Starfleet ships, but the yacht detoured slightly inside the dock, slowing as it passed the battle-damaged Narendra. The great ship was swarmed with repair rigs and people working on patching the hull.

Jakarn sat on one of the couches in the main living area of the yacht, looking out the windows with his eyebrows raised, shot glass in hand. He glanced over to Ishani.

Jakarn: Seems the Narendra’s been in a bit of a scrap.

Kasun: :: Ishani eyed the Narendra’s damage with a frown as they flew past. :: Looks like it.

Jakarn paused for a moment, gaze going to the far distance. His yacht was full of luxuries; one near him, a golden cat statue, shifted as he looked inwards. It was a small tic that meant he was checking his implants’ information feeds.

Jakarn: I don’t have any priority messages from Starfleet, so I’ll be optimistic and say they made it out alright. Shall we detour to the admin section? I can beam you to the check-ins directly, if you’d like to rush.

Kasun: :: She gave him a weak smile. :: I’d rather walk to be honest. Being transported hasn’t agreed with me lately. :: She subconsciously placed a hand on her belly. :: Besides, gives us a bit more time to catch up.

He smiled, understandingly.

Jakarn: Alright.

Kasun: How long are you planning to stay this time?

Jakarn: A week, maybe two if my agents don’t catch up with me. Long enough to buy an apartment.

Kasun: Buy? I didn’t know you were looking for anything?

Jakarn: Ah, I’ve been eyeing one in the commercial sector. You’ve plans, though, surely? Did you keep that nice home you had before?

Kasun: I knew I would be coming back eventually so I didn’t sell it when I got temporarily reassigned. It also gave Taelon and Cyri a place to stay until they found their own abode.

Jakarn: Sensible. ::He drained his shot glass, setting it aside.:: I’m sure he’ll be happy to hear the news. Seems fatherhood’s been good for him - I hope you find out the same.

Kasun: I hope so too.  :: She smiled softly. :: It gives him someone external to focus on that needs and loves him. That alone is a boon to his self esteem.

Jakarn: Mm.::He looked reticent for a moment. Taelon was a sore spot all round. Unsurprisingly, Jakarn preferred they focus on Ishani.:: I’m sure he’ll be happy to help once the time comes.

Kasun: No doubt. I’ve got time to prepare myself thankfully. Mom was pregnant with me for nearly a year and a half.

Jakarn: I remember. ::He chuckled.:: She’d call me and yell. I, ah, hadn’t realized that might be an issue back then...

Kasun: :: She laughed :: Well you were not alone. Apparently her doctor was quite alarmed at my slow progress. :: Her smile faded into a distant look. ::

Jakarn: I miss her too, yeshna.

Kasun: I do wish she was still around, or that I had this idea while she was still alive. But I wasn’t ready at the time. :: Her divorce had been recent enough back then that the desire to have children left a bitter taste in her mouth. ::

::He smiled, reassuringly, though he matched her aura of regret. Her mother had been a remarkable woman, one he’d respected and enjoyed spending time with. But like so many of the Alpha Quadrant’s residents, she’d been short lived compared to him. All he could do now was carry her memory and look after their descendants.::

Jakarn: ::He perked up, changing the subject slightly.:: How long do they expect it to take for you?

Kasun: Based on El Aurian  and my own development time, the doctors are expecting a year and a half from now, though it could be two years until she makes an appearance. They’ll be monitoring her growth so we’ll have a better idea of when I’ll be going into labor when she’s further along.

Jakarn: I hope it goes well. Given your job… ::He trailed off.:: Don’t feel like you need to carry her all the way. If your duties expose you and her to danger…

::A security officer’s role wasn’t exactly the safest - especially for someone whose later terms would last for quite a long time.::

Ishani frowned, and clamped down on her knee jerk dismissal. She would be pregnant for a long time and while most of her job could be boiled down to desk work there was still a high chance of being in physical danger.

Kasun: Maybe. We were able to adjust to Aitas’ pregnancy, but... I guess I’ll play it by ear.

Who knew, maybe after a year she would just want her daughter out just so she wouldn't have to be pregnant anymore.

Jakarn: Well - ah, we’re here. ::The ship was sliding into its berth, the holding arms swinging into place. The deck shuddered as the ship came to a stop.::

Kasun: Looks like it. :: She slowly stood up and stretched. :: Are you going to go immediately to the real estate office or are you going to visit Taelon first?

Jakarn: I’d have liked to see Taelon, but he’s not answering. ::Jakarn frowned, glancing out the windows at the Narendra again.:: My realty appointment is in 12 hours, so I’ll just find a hotel.

Kasun: I’m sure he’s just busy.

Her father smiled at her, reassuringly.

Jakarn: I’ll see you soon, yeshna. Don’t over do it.

Kasun: I won’t, Dad. Love you too.
