((Impound Bay 42 – StarBase 118))
Having tracked down a dangerous power core in the civilian sector, beaming it into T’Liss’s lab before the thing could melt down, and sending a message to Commander McLaren, Zel felt like he did more than a day’s work (he had started said day flying by the almost literal seat of his pants in a ship with a faulty shield generator.
He almost – almost – decided to fall asleep on one of those massage beds, but as the memory loss faded the proprietress came back, thanks both he and T’Liss for their help and offered them both a complimentary massage session during shore leave and Zel might just take her up on that offer. But he figured that it would be bad form to use her bed for napping.
So he slunk back to his quarters, sent a message to Lieutenant Hernandez, and fell asleep for about fourteen hours straight. It was glorious.
Melisandra had booked him an appointment for sickbay the next day, with the not so subtle hint that if he didn’t go she would have one of the nurses chase him down. On the flip side she offered eggs and yamok sauce if he did go.
Dang it. How did she know exactly what made Zel tick?
So here he was, clean, with a clean bill of health, full of more eggs and yamok sauce than you would think would fit in such a small wiry frame, reading his duty messages. He really needed to sit down with Sol at some point to regale her with all he had learn on his mission, but the top message was from Commodore Taybrim.
Which probably either meant Zel was fired or he needed to show new people into Bay 42. And he couldn’t think of a reason he would be fired (though his imagination could always create disasters out of thin air, even if it was entirely out of character for Starfleet in general and Commodore Taybim in specific. He spent over thirty years living in the dangerous fringes of the galaxy. Old habits died hard.) So it was probably bay 42.
Three words in he had confirmation. Absolutely it was ‘get our new folks acquainted with Bay 42.’
Well, save for the damaged Ferasa Shuttle. Fixing that was his shore leave project. The rest of the bay was in a serene state of tidy readiness.
So Zel got on the commline and decided to reach out to some new folks.
Zel: =/\= Lieutenant Zel Rohan to Helm, Ops and Engineering. You read me? =/\=
Zel’s voice was a bit hoarse, a bit high pitched a more than a bit fast.
Sh’Sonora: =/\= ?
(Ysatch/A’Maryi/Munshi: =/\= Optional ? )
Zel: =/\= Well, welcome onboard, or welcome for a while. Didn’t get to ride with you guys for the past few missions. Anyways, Commodore Taybrim wants me to open up Impound Bay 42 and let you guys see what we got inside. =/\=
Sh’Sonora: =/\= ?
(Ysatch/A’Maryi/Munshi: =/\= Optional ? )
Zel: =/\= Basically Bay 42 is where not where we keep impounded ships to be released after impound. That’s Bay 17. Bay 42 is where we have non-Federation, non-Starfleet ships that we fix, curate and use in undercover missions. So yes, it’s restricted. No, you shouldn’t talk about it. And yes, we’re gonna be flying some of these ships soon. =/\=
Sh’Sonora: =/\= ?
(Ysatch/A’Maryi/Munshi: =/\= Optional ? )
Zel: =/\= Ok, you got me, By soon that could mean ‘today.’ =/\=
What helm officer could resist such a tantalizing offer. And there were some good ships in here. Zel had personally flown and tested all of them. Stress tested even.
Sh’Sonora: =/\= ?
(Ysatch/A’Maryi/Munshi: =/\= Optional ? )
Zel: =/\= I’m already down in Bay 42. I’m sending you an access code that will let you in once you’re here.
Sh’Sonora: =/\= ?
(Ysatch/A’Maryi/Munshi: =/\= Optional ? )
