((Hangar, Landing City, Capricalia))
Edan stared intently at the swirling blue light a few metres away, as the Starfleet personnel began to materialise, in place of it.
Three of them. One of them unmistakably Andorian. The other two, he couldn’t be completely sure of. Possibly Terran, although the female had something on her forehead. Some kind of cultural symbol?
He shrugged and snorted ever so slightly. It didn’t really matter. He was just here to hand over the Theirr.
Femorr: Greetings, Starfleet.
His voice was gruff and though the words were meant to be welcoming, the tone of voice was anything but. Although that was not a conscious choice. It was just the way Edan Femorr spoke.
It was the female with the charm-looking thing on her forehead who spoke first.
Willow: Haukea-Willow, chief of security on Starbase 118 Operations and the USS Narendra, at your service.
The male then smiled and introduced himself.
Wethern: Corey Wethern, I'm one of the Medical Officers on the Narendra. Beautiful ship.
Edan’s eyebrow raised slightly at this remark. Was he being serious? Even the Capricalians wouldn’t have described the Theirr as “beautiful”. Perhaps he was one of those who admired the old “classic” designs.
Willow: We mean you no disrespect. Our technology is the pinnacle of Starfleet. We come with only the best.
Wethern: Neither did I, that is a beast of a vessel. Quantum singularity?
Edan’s eyebrow lowered again. Perhaps he was being serious.
Femorr: Yes. I see you’re familiar. That’s good for you.
After all, they would be the ones piloting the Theirr.
sh'Sonora: ::Offers her hand to shake.:: Ensign Mi’shune sh’Sonora. I’ll be your pilot for today. ::Glances over at the Theirr:: She’s umm… seen a lot of action, hasn’t she?
With a slight frown, Edan reached out and shook the Andorian’s hand, with a firm grip. He had been briefed on this custom, although he had never actually done it before. He wondered if he had performed it correctly. He also nodded in answer to the question, with a grim expression on his face.
Willow: Why don’t you lay out our survey responsibilities? Give our pilot flight instructions?
sh’Sonora: :Nodding:: I see, Sub-Commander. May I inspect her recent flight and maintenance logs and do a visual inspection before I fly her? I just want to make sure there’s no surprises
Wethern: I am looking forward to seeing the interior.
Edan gave another curious glance in the male’s direction. He was certainly more enthusiastic about the Theirr than… well, anyone.
Femorr: Of course, Ensign. I’ll show you to the cockpit.
Willow: Lead the way, I look forward to our collaboration.
They began to walk around the ship. It wouldn’t take long for the Andorian to check the outside.
Wethern: How frequently do you vessels encounter pirates?
Femorr: At first, the pirates would hide in ambush. The raids were infrequent. But lately, they have grown in confidence. We are experiencing several confrontations a week now.
He stated all of this very matter-of-factly. It had become a way of life for the Capricalians.
sh’Sonora: Response
Willow: Response
Corey nodded
Wethern: Must be tough getting supplies through.
Femorr: Indeed. As you can see ::holding his hand up to indicate the Theirr:: our defences are somewhat lacking. Though our pilots do the best job they can with what they have.
Willow/sh’Sonora: ?
They had walked a full circle around the ship and now the ramp descended in front of them.
Edan began to ascend into the ship first, with his hands clasped behind his back.
The interior was dark and the air was stale. To say it lacked creature comforts would be a gross understatement. The chairs were hard and the instruments and consoles were a dark grey colour, with black screens and red symbols adorning them.
It was all very… Romulan.
Femorr: Welcome aboard the Theirr. She is probably quite… different to what you are used to, I’m sure.
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
Edan ran his long fingers along one of the consoles as he slinked around the tiny cockpit awkwardly, having to bend his head slightly to avoid it from hitting the ceiling.
Femorr: Feel free to do whatever checks you deem necessary, Ensign.
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
Edan looked at them each in turn with a curious expression on his face.
Femorr: I’m sorry, you’re under the impression that I’m… coming with you?
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
The Capricalian laughed. It was a strange, throaty laugh that sounded almost painful.
Femorr: That will not be possible, I’m afraid. ::holding his long arms out to illustrate his point:: This ship was designed for only two people. As it is, you will not have the most comfortable flight, but with me onboard as well? ::he chuckled again:: No, I will remain here.
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
Femorr: You will have access to our communications, of course. If there are any problems, we are here to help.
He said this last statement with a slight smirk on his face. If looks could speak, this one would have said, “Let’s see how you like it.”
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
Femorr: I am sure highly trained Starfleet personnel will be more than capable. Now, do you have any further questions before I disembark?
Willow/Wethern/sh’Sonora: Responses
