Taida cringed when Ysatch hit the wall. She grabbed an object from the table - she wasn't even looking at it was - and threw it at CHRLI. It hit the armored shell as it spun.

Bremi: No! Bad, Charlie!

CHRLI’s black opal eyes turned a deep crimson, and locked onto Bremi

Bremi: Oops.

CHRLI: ::Mechanically, as if through a broken speaker:: GGGGggggrrrrrrrrr…

CHRLI squeak of rage wasn’t accompanied by a snarl, a bite, or an attack of any sort. It turned its back on Bremi, curled itself into a pouncing position, and shot out like an old-fashioned bullet towards the door. Only it didn’t hit the door itself. It smacked its twirling armadillo body into the door’s open button, swishing apart as soon as CHRLI landed on the floor, darting out to escape.

sh’Sonora: ::Forlornly:: So that’s why I wasn’t allowed to have a pet. ::Resigned, she shrugged.:: Alright folks, new mission. We’re wrangling CHRLI! Let’s go get ‘em!

Bryce: I guess the 'babysitting' just became a 'search and rescue.' Or just 'search and recover' before it finds a senior officer's office.

Ysatch: ::still a bit dazed:: Yeah, and I still need to get its insurance information.

Munshi: If that thing has insurance, I hope it covers 'anomalous hardware displacement.'

Because if it finds the Captain’s ready room, we’re going to need a very persuasive defense strategy. And possibly a new set of careers.

A’Mayri’s effortless removal of a cabinet door, using it as an improvised shield, gave the Andorian ensign cause to pause.

sh’Sonora: oO Damn… don’t hack her off. She’d toss me like a skipping stone. Oo

Bryce: If it’s as smart as it looks, it’s going to head for the heat vents or the maintenance ducts. Let's move!

Voss: We can’t all go clambering through the duct work - we’ll end up on top of each other and he’ll just slip past us. If we –

A’Mayri: ::Tucking the heavy drawer under her arm:: I apologise in advance for my abruptness, but I will now be in active pursuit for CHRLI as well.

Voss: Roger that, wouldn’t dare try to stop you. Bryce, Mi’sh, A’Mayri, Ysatch - why don’t you guys track him down. Bremi, Munshi, and I will see if we can find out anything more about our little friend and how to chill him out once you get him. Keep in contact - let us know if you need us to run interference, and we’ll let you know what we find out. Sound good?

Ysatch: Sure, we can do more damage that way!

Munshi: A logical division of labor. While the pursuit team tracks his physical coordinates, I will attempt to access the lab’s local network archives. If I can isolate CHRLI’s original programming logs, we might be able to find a remote 'standby' command—or at least find out if his diet includes primary power relays.

The team jogged out of the lab.

Mi’shune snatched herself up a tricorder, wrapped up a cleansuit around her other arm, and followed the group.

Her purloined ‘net’ and ‘tracker’ were more applied to robotics and cybernetics work, but she could argue this was in the same lane. Taking on, and capturing, a robotic (or cybernetic) creation. One that was cute as a LCARS button. And one with the mischievous nature of a Tellerite prankster.

She wasn’t looking forward to the confrontation. It was faster than anything she’d ever seen on legs, and she’d once saw a warp-slug at the Laibok Exoplanetary Zoo.

It wasn’t just about besting the little creature, however. By bouncing off her shoulder and scrambling for the exits, CHRLI proved something that got under the skin of the diminutive Andorian ensign.

Until she bested it, that thing was faster and wilier than her, and her pride couldn’t allow that to remain permanent.

Thoughts of revenge distracted the usually alert, reactive Andorian. Ysatch was first to spot the little mechanical menace

Ysatch: ... did it just wink at us?

sh’Sonora: GET IT!

And before anyone else reacted, Mi’shune was off like a shot, running as fast as she could sprint, madly waving the cleansuit like a standard bearer’s flag.

Bryce/A’Mayri: ?

They didn't have long to consider this behavior because CHRLI was on the move again, down the hallway and out of sight. Not wanting to lose visual contact, Tori took off at a sprint. He got to the junction and he could once again see CHRLI at the end of the hallway, but then it was gone again. Another hallway sprint later, there's CHRLI. There goes CHRLI. Bye CHRLI. Tori slowed down his run and turned back to his other ensigns.

Ysatch: Does anyone else feel like we're being baited? It's fast enough that it could probably lose us if it wanted to.

Mi’shune spent CHRLI’s agility demonstration trying to keep pace, and losing badly to it. An accomplishment, considering the Andorians’ daily cardio and wing-chun routine.

sh’Sonora: ::panting:: That… little… bastard… ::She slumped against the wall, chest heaving in air.::

Bryce/A’Mayri: ?

Ysatch: If we know that it's not just gonna disappear into the station -- that it WANTS to play with us -- maybe we can use that to our advantage.

He opened up his tricorder and pulled up a schematic of the deck. He was still pretty new to the starbase and unfamiliar with its layout, but the Federation made it and anything the Federation made must have ...

Ysatch: Jeffries tubes! It's sticking to the corridors, so what if one of us used the Jeffries tubes to get out ahead of it and flank it?

sh’Sonora: At this point, I’ll try anything short of flushing it out into space.

Bryce/A’Mayri: ?
