T'Reyna: These type-2's being handed by yourself, Commander, may boost morale and courage. Having a personal trust in your crew by physically being handed the weapon by one's superior is comforting in dire times.

This time he did look up and he responded with a knowing nod.

Fairhug: That's a good idea. However, time is of the essence. We'll hand these out to the personnel on this deck and those on deck one. The rest will have to collect the type twos from the various closest Security stations to their positions.

oh. Right. Yes, that makes sense.
T'Reyna was indeed out of ideas and spitballing was not doing wonders for logic. She should have conceived their limitation of time before speaking.

T'Reyna: Understood, Sir.

Arming everybody aboard the ship is quite the task. All seven hundred of them? This may require more than boxes. She considered briefly using the replicators to deconstruct and remateralize the weapons across the vessel, but it would take too much energy. The sheer amount of power consumption that would require is wasteful.

Fairhug: I take it you are familiar with the idea of booby traps, Ensign?

She paused and turned to Gogigobo, raising an eyebrow.

T'Reyna: Traps, Commander?

Fairhug: Unfortunately, we have to consider every possible scenario, including us losing control of the ship and having to take it back.

T'Reyna: A dire circumstance to prepare for. Guerrilla tactics are often a last-resort...

He was expecting the worst.

Fairhug: We should double check our forcefield generators and make sure there are no gaps. We may need to use them. There are also certain types of gases that we could vent into specific areas of the ship to incapacitate invaders.

With a nod, she moved over to a nearby console in the wall. She would check the status of such devices manually from the terminal, looking over the digital charts and figures with an inquisitive stare.

T'Reyna: All shields should be operating a nominal capacity. We should divert additional power to shield generators for both combat effectiveness, protection from hull breaches and your plan for these... 'booby traps.'

A strange term. Language often retained ancient teases. Yet this one somehow survived because it just sounded amusing.

The Commander looked over to the Ensign with a curious frown on his face.

Fairhug: What kinds of measures do Vulcan ships use for such situations? I'm sure you must have a few clever tricks up your sleeves.

T'Reyna: Sh'vhal Cruisers maintain similar specifications to Starfleet vessels, due to utilizing the same technology we share. Our primary reliance in the rare situation of being boarded is either quarantine via forcefields or automated turret systems. Should either fail, we may initiate self-destruction sequences.  ::She paused, looking at the Commander intently::  Do you wish to utilize unconventional warfare?

Vulcans are not Romulans, who paint their ships the same colour as blood. Whilst a military is maintained by the Vulcan High Command for domestic affairs, it is nothing compared to the might of Starfleet's own, which the Vulcans readily help construct. Their own ships do not have such unethical tactics within their construction because neither do Starfleet's ships. Nearly all the Sh'vhal vessels are science ships now, despite their capacity for warfare.

Fairhug: ::chuckling slightly:: Come on, you've heard that Terran expression, I bet - all's fair in love and war.

T'Reyna: A confusing sentiment, comparing desire of affection with that of battle with a foe. Are you certain this is not a Cardassian phrase?

Humans were always an enigma. Their warlike past coaxed with modern enlightenment hides their biological desire for combat. Vulcans were volatile when emotional, yet few Vulcans today are violent. Humans could be, given the right circumstance, even given heroic status if they were true warriors.

Fairhug:  ?

T'Reyna: Anesthizine gas is the most universally used anesthesia for inducing unconsciousness across most known species. Should I put in an order for containers to be delivered to the ship whilst docked at Starbase 118?

They have a few containers of it aboard, but not nearly enough for a potentially ship-wide sleep-inducting for invaders. It was a medical gas for hyposprays, never stocked to excessively. Whilst they could replicate the gas, again, it would cost more energy than T'Reyna wishes to spare. Their shields are going to need all the power they can generate.

Fairhug: ?

T'Reyna: Quarantine a compromised section or deck via forcefield generators, then flood the compartments with such gas. Providing there is no resistance or masks used, it theoretically may save our own crew and halt the invading force also.

Not much could get through a forcefield. Borg could, but that was because the nanobots in their blood adapted to the shield temporarily to pass through. Even a level-10 forcefield, however, blocked their communication from the Collective. That is testament to their effectiveness.

Fairhug: ?

T'Reyna: We did use traps against the Jem'Hadar in ground warfare. However, they were primarily explosive and a final desperate act of stranded soldiers. I would not advise using explosive devices aboard a starship.

Ground combat was far different in space than it was on a planet. She hoped they would not need to use any of these theoretical 'booby traps' to begin with.

Fairhug: ?

With a nod, she put an order in for Starbase 118 to deliver them containers of knockout gas upon their arrival. She would also put a request in for additional power to their shield and forcefield generators.
Hopefully Rustyy Hael did not mind such a request..
