((StarBase 118 – Promenade))
The shorter woman tilted her head slightly to the side as if to meet Haukea’s gaze, a look of understanding obvious on her features.
Marsh: Well, I haven't been around as long as you. ::Smirks in a joking manner:: I'm not saying that you are old, just that you have more life experience in Starfleet. My opinion on ships is purely researched based, because I have spent most of my time planetside in hospitals or classrooms. They seem to be more adventurous than being on a station, as I do enjoy traveling and perhaps less competition for career progression. However, stations are lovely due to the various shopping options, abundance of people, state of the art medical facilities, casinos, and for dining options, genuine food is not as scarce.
Willow: Ah, so more like 50/50?
Madison briefly winced, exaggerating the amount by moving her index finger closer to her thumb. Haukea was certainly puzzled by the movement, smiling wide, waiting for a verbal confirmation. Though as an officer herself she certainly preferred Station life, since, as a security officer there was more ground to cover, more interesting cases to be called out to.
Marsh: More like 75/25 station over ship. I think that is a fair assessment based upon my own personal assessment.
Willow: Hmm, ::changing the subject abruptly:: What’s your take on nature?
Haukea’s curiosity had gotten the better of her, wanting to know Madison’s opinion before they reached their destination. Likewise, she wanted to know if Madison would be fond of what she had planned. Though, as evident by the smile that graced the other woman’s lips, Haukea had nothing to be anxious about.
Marsh: Prior to becoming a Medical Doctor, Science was one of my two majors during undergrad. My primary focus was on Biology, so I have an appreciation for animals in nature. It is good fun to go on a Safari from time to time to study animals in their natural environment. I am a plant lover as well, in fact, I still have my gift from Commander DeVeau in wonderful health. Tell me about your take on nature.
Willow: Well, I grew up near the ocean on Risa and some say I do have a birthmark on my shoulder in the shape of a Risian sea turtle. So, I do have a fondness for nature.
Madison and Haukea continued walking across the promenade, Haukea leading the way. The lengthy walk was not disliked, enjoyable even, providing extra time for the two individuals to converse.
Marsh: I see. The second degree of my double major is in Counseling. I enjoy helping others improve their own mental health as well in addition to their physical health. The Science and Counseling degree fields can also provide me with additional career options down the road. I love being a Medical Doctor, but I like being able to diversify my skill set. Anyways, enough about me, did you major in Security at the Academy?
Haukea, while not directly holding a disinterest in the medical field, knew the material was difficult for her to understand, making her tune out a large portion of said information. However, she admired Madison’s drive to continue her education, advance her career. She greatly admired a driven woman.
Haukea and Madison matched each others’ gaze before Haukea spoke, answering the other woman’s question.
Willow: Before I joined the academy I had been a part of the Risian security force so it was only natural to major in security once I joined. Besides, I didn't want to do much else.
Marsh: Are you happy with your career field choice?
Madison lifted a brow, much like a Vulcan might, in curiosity, beaming in delight and wonderment, obviously interested. Haukea smiled in response. Not only at Madison’s interest but likewise at the proximity to their destination.
Willow: Knowing I had a previous background in the field certainly helped. If not security than engineering. But I’m nearly too old to learn a whole new academic field. You?
Marsh: Response
Willow: So you eventually want to enter the command track?
Marsh: Response
Willow: I love this about you. This drive you have.
Marsh: Response
((Night Garden - Promenade - Starbase 118))
The location was full of a variety of night blooming plants from all corners of the galaxy, some tropical, some of other varieties. All of which scented the room with a lightly sweet aroma. Around the perimeter of the room was a wide walking path.
Willow: Welcome to the Night Gardens.
Marsh: Response
